Who was the Khalifa in Earth(the one mentioned in 230)?
The khalifa in earth(230) was Dawood, not Adam.
In verse 230, Allah informs the malaika/?angels? that He is making a khalifa in earth. The malaika respond by asking ?Would You make in it(earth) those who would corrupt in it??
230 And your Lord said to the Angels "I am making a successor in earth." They said "Would You make in it those who would corrupt in it, and spill blood, while we sing Your glory, and praise You?" He said "I know what you do not know."
Verse 3826-28 tells us the name of that khalifa, Dawood, and also asks if Allah is expected to make those do believe and do good, like those who corrupt in earth (the question which the malaika had asked in 230).
3826 O Dawood, We have made you a successor in earth. Therefore, you shall judge among the people with the truth, and do not follow desire, lest it diverts you from the way of God. Surely, those who stray off the way of Allah ,for them is severe punishment for forgetting the Day of Reckoning.
3827 And We did not create the heaven and the earth, and everything between them, in vain. Such is the thinking of those who rejected. Therefore, woe to those who have rejected from the Fire.
3828 Or do We make those who believe and do good works like those who corrupt in earth? Or do We make the righteous like the wicked?
Who was Dawood's predecessor? How was Dawood made a successor/khalifa?
Dawood was a successor/khalifa to Talut. Talut was a king/malik (2247), and he and his soldiers set out to fight Jaloot and his soldiers (2249-250). And when they defeated Jaloot?s soldiers and when Dawood killed Jaloot, Allah gave the kingdom/al-mulk to him(2251). That is how Dawood succeeded Talut as a king and was made a successor/khalifa in earth.
What is it that malaika did not know and Allah knew(230)?
The malaika confused al-qitaal/the fighting with fasaad/mischief/corruption. They argued that the khalifa(Dawood) was causing fasaad in earth. But what Taloot, his soldiers and Dawood were doing was al-qitaal(which is good for us, 2216), which was prescribed (2246) by Allah (for self-defense), which is a means of preventing, not causing, fasaad in earth (2251).

The logic your following I beleive is flawed...
The need to explain to the angels that a successor is being placed on the earth would denote that the action has not happened yet......or is in the process of happening
now logically we can see Adam was before Dawood in the time space realm of the physicality of Earth...
so to take verses out of context and make "claims" and "interpretations" is highly dangerous
If Dawood is a successor..that is clearly what the verse states right? does it say He was the first successor? The most you have proven is that if...Adam is the first successor or the quranic arabic "khaleefatan" and David is also called a "khaleefatan"..this proves to me that is David is a prophet/messenger and so is Adam.. doesnt this prove that there is no contradcition but in fact maybe khaleefatan are the prophets and messengers..not an indivuidual person
from my arabic experience....khaleefatan the ending doesnt it denote a possible plural if not why isnt the word khalifa singular used????
this would imply that the only khaleefatan are prophets and messengers not just any human being...
my view may evolve but provide for me some quranic proof to have me to beelive otherwise....

ps if the following is true....this would mean that "islamic" khalifahood is done and no longer a goal to achieve and thus would make sense as to why the "sunnis, shias" who try to establosh a islamic khalifa have not been successful since the prophethood is done with Muhammad....

Yes, Allah was explaining about an action not happened by then. He was telling something about the future, and Dawood would come in the future, right ? So I can't see the flaw in logic.

The verse does not say first successor. All I was saying is that Dawood is the khalifa mentioned in 230.
And Adam was not a prophet or messenger.

The word is singular. The plural is "khalaaif".
this would imply that the only khaleefatan are prophets and messengers not just any human being...
Verse 2455 Allah promises that those who believe from among you and do righteous works, He will make them to succeed(i.e. make them khalifa/succesor) in earth?

The human intellect is the successor, and we must make it prostrate to the God's plan and order the controllers accordingly.
Its not some man named Adam or Dawood. Its you, me and all of us.
