Need your advice. I might go back to Saudi Arabia
-
Peace
I worked with a bunch of friends with Saudi investors, they sr3w3d us up pretty bad, so I do not think I like the rich among them anymore. However I met a few students who were pretty nice. What I heard is that if you tell them you became a muslim, they slash your salary by three... -
...From the comments of people, I also come to think that Saudi's not a very desirable place to work.
-
From the comments in this thread, I (who have never been there and know nothing the real situation there) come to the opinion that it is not a good idea at all to work there. Is it only in Saudi Arabia or this is also the case for other "Muslim" countries?

As salamu alaykum wr wb.
Respectfully. If you MUST go to arabia to eran money, then go, if you DON'T HAVE TO, then don't, but if the Arabs of today time are really what i hear they are, then do not go. I'm sure you can find a job in your country or elsewhere in the world, better then any job in Arabia.
Allah knows best.

Thank you for your advice guys. No, I won't work in the same company. Saudi Arabia's not that bad, but I haven't seen how they deal with apostates. My main complaint there is there are too many sodomites there. A male homosexual's paradise. When it comes to work, sadly, almost any other country is better than my country. And even if travel to Iraq is banned in my country, they still find ways to work there. Many of us will work abroad for US$250 a month salary. Anywhere but the Philipines. Filipinos are scattered all over the world, with the greatest concentration in the USA and the Middle East. Most of us have little or no choice. Politicians and government employees have plundered our country. Its really sad.

I have just known that there are too many sodomies in Saudi Arabia (a bit surprised to know this indeed). Have they ever tried to force you to do that? Or do you know some friends of yours being forced to do that? If not, then IMHO, I think you can simply ignore those homosexuals.
Remember this bro ...under dangerous situation (especially in life and death matters), it is permitted to do taqiyya. Allah knows what is in your heart so if you know they will kill you just because of your true tawheed, you can do taqiyya.

Peace Tony n all,
Yeah, I know about the homosexuality that goes on over there. yuck All that's okay, but if you convert to sunniism and become an apostate, you deserve to die. On the other hand, racism is also apparent. You're either a saudi or an american or sub-human. There was one time when we worked at the jeddah international airport, waiting on the other side for a company bus to take us to the hajj terminal. One of the security guards came and stood near one of us who was smoking, unaware that there was no smoking in arabic, he said something in arabic, the guy had no clue what he said, and the next thing, the guard slaps him to the ground! Until a few minutes later did another guy explain to him that he wasn't allowed to smoke in that area.
If the situation of work is that bad in your country, you could probably try other areas, maybe you haven't thought of? In middle east I really liked UAE, I stayed for over a month on time, but I never worked there. How about Australia?

...The Philippines are just like Indonesia, it seems. A lot of Indonesians also work abroad, preferring Malaysia and Arab countries as their destination. They work as maids, babysitters etc generate revenue for their sons and daughters back home while their husbands sometimes languish in unemployment. The government 'honours' them by calling them 'heroines' yet the migrant workers always get fleeced whenever they come home...
I wonder if the situation is different in other Arab countries. Qatar & UAE companies regularly put job advertisements in Indoensian papers, mostly looking for engineers and other profesional staff.

I don't think its plain homosexuality that ails Saudi Arabia. Its SODOMY. And its that bad. One morning while I was waiting for a cab to go to work, a group of joy-riding arab teenagers stopped in front of me, giving me hand signals that obviously say they are asking for sex. I signalled them back with a "no." Its so common. Another incident was when I was urinating in one of the bathrooms, there were many urinals available and this arab colleague of mine urinated to the urinal next to me and giving me "that look" and at the same time trying to peer at my thing. The funny thing is that I am not even an attractive man. But my gay colleagues are having a grand time in that country....and getting paid for it.
Thanks for the advice andy. I agree with you. Even if I perform all those stupid rituals, God knows what is in my heart.

I really don't mind racism as long as they don't hurt me. All i want is too earn an honest living so my kids can finish school all the way to college. Guards and Mutawwas (religious police) are really rude. Well, its really my dream to work or even migrate to Australia, US, UK, Canada or New Zealand if I had the chance. But most of the job openings advertised here are mostly for middle eastern or african countries.

I think the Philippines is worse than Indonesia. I think your economy and the over-all situation is better in your country. One indication is that more tourists go to your country, specially in Bali. We have world-class beaches too but they are afraid to get kidnapped by local terrorists. Our government also consider those workers as modern day heroes because they are the number one source of foreign exchange for our country. Labor is our number one export. If given the opportunity I could even work as a househelp or a security guard in Italy or anywhere in Europe because the maids we know working there have been able to build big houses and buy cars here that the ordinary filipino worker cannot afford.

Salam All,
Tony, I have the same predicament as you. What have you had decided?
My apologies for not being straightforward in the other thread. I just read this thread now.
Thanks.
