    Salaams Br's,

They ask you about covering and concealing say in both sin great and benefits for men and their evil greater then their benefit and they ask you what (how much) of a munafiq (they can be) say the forgivable thus makes clear Allah ???

(Will) not call you to account Allah of futile in your oaths but He will call you to account for earnestly sworn in oaths ???.

O you who believe only covering and concealing and false deities and divining arrows an abomination handiwork (of) Satan so avoid it so that you may attain success.

Do you think the sentence structure fits one another? Isn?t the theme continuous?

    God Bless.

      Salaam simple,

Regarding alcohol I think brother Arnold has explained well in

      http//www.free-minds.org/forum/index.php?topic=6689.msg101761#msg101761

However, your alternative understanding is interesting for me since I believe the same exact verses of quran can be understood in many level of understanding. I hope you can provide more complete alternative translations so that the members here can verify whether they really fit or not. As far as I can see now, you haven't fully translated the verses (it can be seen from the "...&quot please CMIIW.

        Salaams Br,s

Sorry but Andy i can't give much weight to your post (although apreciate your comments) as it doesn't click with my understandings.

See if i can make my views understandable though.

        covering and concealing

does this determine success or failure As compared to alcohol determining success or failure.

Look around at the alcohol drinking world success or failure.

I think you would agree those who open up all avenues of truth and don?t cover and conceal information are those who are the successful.

Then you must have decided regarding the two sets of ayah?s

In the first set people are asking can?t they simply hide/ cover and conceal their beliefs instead of having to migrate leave their homes and Allah has said that there is less benefit in this so don?t cover and conceal your beliefs ? if can be helped.

        Second

        Balaghu = (conclusions) reached.

So Allah will not call you to account for conclusions you reach but will call you to account for your intentions.

        God Be us all.

            Salaam simple,

Could you give full break down of the verses plus the complete translations? Your analysis seems interesting but of course we (or I) have to verify by seeing the complete structures. If it has been proven OK (at least to my satisfaction) I can adopt it without having to give up the previous understanding. In other words, for me it could be that God is explaining about Alcohol and the matter of concealing faith (and maybe other things) at the same time.

Salam i believe covring and concealing is a good translation to as khamr means to cover..but i do believe that covering involves substances that cover the mind too...so yeah one word can have more than one suitable meaning and we follow all of the best fitting meanings..salam.

                Salaams,

But is the ayah talking about THINGS THAT cover THE MIND or are you using your imagination.

                to deduce that.

Where are you getting the extra imagined THINGS FROM - THE MIND?

look at the two ayah's again and again and again may be it might click.

                No disrespects though.

                God Be With Us All.

                  peace

well does covering and concealing include covering and concealing for health reasons

i mean can natural herbs and medications (herbal) could they be considered to cover and conceal?

technically they do cover the minds state of depression or physical ailment?

i mean chamomile covers the minds state of awakeness it allows one to sleep....

many "natural" or herbal things are these considered as covering and concealing under your interpreation of the words in the verse?

                  Amanda

                    Salaams to you,

Have you ever seen people press/ squeeze wine ? I have NEVER!

Wadakhala maAAahu alssijna fatayaniqala ahaduhuma innee aranee aAAsirukhamran waqala al-akharu innee aranee ahmilufawqa ra/see khubzan ta/kulu alttayru minhu nabbi/nabita/weelihi inna naraka mina almuhsineena

Now with him there came into the prison two young men. Said one of them "I see myself (in a dream) pressing wine." said the other "I see myself (in a dream) carrying bread on my head, and birds are eating, thereof." "Tell us" (they said) "The truth and meaning thereof for we see thou art one that doth good (to all)."

                    Just a quick retranslation shows

The young lad did enter private/ covered/ matters, poked his nose where he shouldn't have so he was imprisoned and was thus released afterwards as Joseph told him he would be, Joseph new the Egyptian law so was able to give the resultant punishment due.

                    God Bless all.
