    selam

    it says in 23100
"So that I may do good in that which I have left behind." No, it is but a word he is speaking. And there is a barrier to prevent them from going back until the Day they are all resurrected.

is there gonna be some time between death and resurrection?
or are we gonna be resurrected immediately after we die?

      Salaams nerspi,

isn't this the death of the evilness in a person (And not the physical death) - then one regrets and wants to correct his mistakes - but we are being told we can't and will face them on the Day of Judg.

Try reading the previouse two aya's to see this - It makes sense I THINK.

      Salaams.

        Peace simple, nerspi

even if this might make sens in the text (i havn't verified), imo it doesn't make sens in real life... Why should one not be able to correct previous mistakes or at least try ?

i guess there is a time out between death and judgement as described in quran

Dead (are they), not living, and they know not when they shall be raised. (Sura An-nahl, 22)

          Peace be upon you,

This world is the only time when BEING can CHANGE. It is only through the human vehicle that we can make canges to our behavior/thoughts, etc. So if we are taking this life as mere amusement we are fooling ourselves and will fail at this test. Therefore we will be removed at some point from the physical vehicle and be in the spiritual world where one will be "trapped" with thier emotions and thoughts that they never transcended while on earth and will have to wait for another chance to be ressurected back to the phyical plane so they can try again.

where does it say that elke - that there is a period between death and ressurection , and what goes on in that period please?

The following aya?s say they are dead and not alive ? thus have no idea, or have I missed something?
As for the idols they set up beside GOD, they do not create anything; they themselves were created.
They are dead, not alive, and they have no idea how or when they will be resurrected.

If one goes back on his word say, then regrets after some time when one becomes a do gooder then how can you correct this , won't you be accountable for this on judgement day?or can you be forgiven for major sins before that even?what does the quran say?

isn't the only forgivable sins minor ones and everything else to be accountable for?

            God Bless.

                Peace simple,

God forgives whomever he wills - no distinction between minor or gross offences i can see here

29.21 He punishes whom He pleases, and He grants Mercy to whom He pleases, and towards Him are ye returned.

Also, if God punished us right away, no soul would be left on earth - sorry no time to find the verse now.

So, IMO, if you are accountable or not for your bad deeds is in Gods hand, who judges what's in our hearts, if we deserve to be forgiven or not.

Now to the question initially asked by nerspi, i did understand the verse i cited as indicating that there was a time between death and ressurection. But may be you have another interpretation ?

Its from this reading(quran) as well as that which came before it. Its just not spelled out so clearly especially when we were taught all kinds of foolish things to confuse us.

Remember, the God said that they will not come back UNTIL they are resurrected, which means THEN they will be back. Energy/Matter is neither created nor destroyed.

I want you to think about this, at night when you go to sleep (that which is likened to death), do you not confirm that you are TRAPPED with thoughts and emotions that you cannot get away from until you awaken? the physical body is put to the background as well as the WILL? Thats why you have no control in your dream (unless you have a lucid dream which brings you closer to the awaked state).

Dont always look for a verse from a book, look at the universe/life itself, THAT is Al Kitaab. This reading(quran) is only an explanation of it among others.

                    Peace all,

idolfree1, you said that, "Energy/Matter is neither creater nor destroyed", but can't God do that? Id think that you would think that, but I just want to get that straight. Good point on Al Kitaab though.

Also, if I am not mistaken, I thought that The Book states something like, "If they are martyred in battle, do not be sad, for they are at their lord". Sorry for not providiung the ayat. Does that just mean the soul itself, or are they actually ALIVE.

                    Peace

                      Salaams elke,

                      Just for information only.

Only Minor offences are forgiven ? I think

Now to the question initially asked by nerspi, i did understand the verse i cited as indicating that there was a time between death and ressurection. But may be you have another interpretation ?

And what happens in this time?

                      My interpretation is

                      023.097
YUSUFALI And say "O my Lord! I seek refuge with Thee from the suggestions of the Evil Ones.
                      023.098
YUSUFALI "And I seek refuge with Thee O my Lord! lest they should come near me."
                      023.099
YUSUFALI (In Falsehood will they be) Until, when death comes to one of them, he says "O my Lord! send me back (to life),-
                      023.100
YUSUFALI "In order that I may work righteousness in the things I neglected." - "By no means! It is but a word he says."- Before them is a Partition till the Day they are raised up.
It?s the death of the evilness within us but even if we become doer?s of good it doesn?t mean all our sins are forgiven , and yes we are accountable for many of them ? and we will settle them on the Day of Judgment when we are resurrected? I think.
But I will leave it there .

                      Thanks elke.

Or like the one who passed by a town and it had tumbled over its roofs. He said "Oh! How will Allah ever bring it to life after its death?" So Allah caused him to die for a hundred years, then raised him up (again). He said "How long did you remain (dead)?" He (the man) said "(Perhaps) I remained (dead) a day or part of a day". He said "Nay, you have remained (dead) for a hundred years, look at your food and your drink, they show no change; and look at your donkey! And thus We have made of you a sign for the people. Look at the bones, how We bring them together and clothe them with flesh". When this was clearly shown to him, he said, "I know (now) that Allah is Able to do all things."

we are dead for X years, but in our conciousness we capture it as it was quick, less than a day.there is more verses about it....if not, damn poor adam he is a little bored of waiting!

Maybe this can give an extra to this discussion. I'm busy with writing an article together with Quran verses to show how they coincide with the information given in this article
