    Salaams All,

    Are religions sects?

    Quran says
"As for those who divide their religion and break upinto sects, thou hast no part in them in the least their affair is with God He will in the end tell them the truth of all that they did." (Quran 6/159)

    What are sects?
    015.010
YUSUFALI We did send messengers before thee amongst the religious sects of old
PICKTHAL We verily sent (messengers) before thee among the factions of the men of old.
SHAKIR And certainly We sent (messengers) before you among the nations of yore.
    Religions are sects.

And Allah is saying Don?t be of them?????????????

So am I right or wrong?

    Feedback-welcomed.Thanks all who take part.

    Gods Blessings to all.

          Salaams JM,AL-KHIDR,

          Great links ?Thanks .

Just to make it a little more clearer!

But my question partly was Isn?t God forbidding sects ?Religions As

The following is indicative of a religion being a sect-or isn?t the logic there?

          015.010
YUSUFALI We did send messengers before thee amongst the religious sects of old
PICKTHAL We verily sent (messengers) before thee among the factions of the men of old.
SHAKIR And certainly We sent (messengers) before you among the nations of yore.

So aren?t religions being forbidden ?according to 6159.

If they are should we be called MUSLIM as that makes you into a sect ? don?t it?

          Salaams.

              Peace be upon you Simple,

You are absolutely correct. The God sends messengers to the people who are fragmented in order to bing us back as ONE as we were in the "beginning".

The DESCRIPTION of the righteous should be "muslimeen" (those who are peaceful). It is not a NAME of a group of people in a certain religion.
