What is not equal is the seer and the blind, the light and the dark .

These are God?s revelations, We recite them to you with truth, and you are of the messengers. Such messengers, We have preferred some over others; some of them talked to God, and He raised some of them in rank, and We gave Jesus son of Mary the proofs and We supported him. (2252-253)

Do above verses contradict the verses that claim the equality of all messengers of God?

I would say in the sight of Allah some messengers are of higher ranks. But for us, we should not differentiate between messengers. First of all, it is the characteristic of believers not to differentiate between messengers. Secondly, even if we are to "sort" their ranks we have no "data". Thirdly, not all messengers are narrated to us.

Please don't follow sunnis who are differentiating between messengers by favouring Muhammad above other messengers.

Well, for example President holds more power than Vice President and they are unequal in terms of authority. Therefore messengers of God with higher ranks logically would have more power and better status than the others. By the way a Sunni man confronted me with this fact to promote the superiority of certain Prophets, especially Ahmed of course.

          Hi Jankren,

          I agree a 100% with brother Andy.

          2136
Say, "We believe in GOD, and in what was sent down to us, and in what was sent down to Abraham, Ismail, Isaac, Jacob, and the Patriarchs; and in what was given to Moses and Jesus, and all the prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction among any of them. To Him alone we are submitters."

If I was to give an earthly example, I'd say that it makes little difference to the pizza, whether it was delivered to you by a Ferrari or by a VW Bus. You know what I'm saying?

Some prophets might have been closer to god, than others, but that is between god and them.

I think this verse confirms what I'm saying

          4152
And those who believe in Allah and His Messengers and make no distinction between any of them (Messengers), We shall give them their rewards, and Allah is Ever OftForgiving, Most Merciful.

          Nadeem

            Salaam All,

Read the verse carefully, it says that, "God preferred", where in other verses God tells us not to make any distinction between the messengers. The question is are humans and God equal? >D >D >D

              peace handshake
WE is the army of allah, him and all his soldiers.not we humans.......
there shouldnt be any doubts. we keep on going, have the message, not to make one prophet look better than another. and allah does what he wants with them.
saying than this prophet its better than that one would be playing god, because we have no proof about it and we just judging. sunnis say what they say about "the best man in the world" because of the hadiths that say muhammed its the best. allah knows best.

                How daft again.

We is not the army of Allah, Him and all His soldiers......

                How to read the Koran

Allah is Royalty, and therefore when royalty address the masses, they use, We, the King have decreed......; We (God) have commanded.......

When Allah address an individual in Koran rather than the masses, then it is, He (God) told Moses ........; Instead of I (God) told Moses..., the Koran uses Allah as third person.

And, when we human address Allah in Koran, we say Allah or You.....

I have inserted in the brackets (God) to show how the above examples work!

Also, the two above verses are combined and not complete Here are the complete two verses.

002.252 These are the (ayas) signs of Allah We rehearse them to you in truth verily you are one of the messengers.

002.253 Those messengers We endowed with gifts, some above others To one of them Allah spoke; others He raised to degrees (of honor); to Jesus the son of Mary We gave clear (signs), and strengthened him with the revered soul (Gabriel). If Allah had so willed, succeeding generations would not have fought among each other, after clear (signs) had come to them, but they (chose) to wrangle, some believing and others rejecting. If Allah had so willed, they would not have fought each other; but Allah fulfills His plan.

                  Al-Qur'an, 002.252-253 (Al-Baqara )
