Naked Pope in a Glass House (DRAFT)
-
Islam was spread by the sword and Christianity was spread by the gun, just deal with it and stop making the same mistake ;D.
Um, not entirely true... Christianity in its beginnings used the sword and steel of the Roman Empire too. Nowadays the cross-worshippers spread their religion by gold.
-
Islams wasn't entirely spread my the sword. Which Moslem army marched into Inonesia? With moslem army is in the United States convering SO many Moslems? There has been a 235% increase in Islam in the past decade in America, which Moslem army was it that converted all these people?
Even so, lets say that in history Moslems did conquer lands.
In pure, true Islam, there is no compultion in religion.
Let there be no compulsion in religionTruth stands out clear from Error whoever rejects evil and believes in Allah hath grasped the most trustworthy hand-hold, that never breaks. And Allah heareth and knoweth all things.
Let there be no compulsion in religion
Define compultion
compulsion Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation
noun- the act of compelling; constraint; coercion.
- the state or condition of being compelled.
- Psychology. a strong, usually irresistible impulse to perform an act, esp. one that is irrational or contrary to one's will.
Source
"compulsion." Dictionary.com Unabridged (v 1.0.1). Based on the Random House Unabridged Dictionary, ? Random House, Inc. 2006. 20 Oct. 2006. <Dictionary.com http//dictionary.reference.com/search?r=2&q=compulsion>So compulsion means to compell. A strong act to make someone do something. The word is vauge in a way, which is perfect in this case. Here is why.
The Quran says no compulsion in religion. There is no strong act to make someone into a certain religion. Simple.Forcing is a step higher than compelling. So if one cant compel someone, can they force? Of course not.
Its like saying, If I'm not allowed to punch a baby, am I allowed to kill it? Well, if you cant do something thats bad, you certainly cannot do something thats HORRIBLE.All these acts are considered in regard to conversion (what I call "reversion"; to revert) to Islam.
There are several stages of impose something.- Ask, teach, preach, etc
- Compell, use strong imposement, strong persuasion, enfoce.
- Force by any means of violence. Beating, killing, threats etc.
In the Quran we read there is no compulsion and if we cant use compulsion, can we use force? Logically, no. Can we ask about religion, question their faith, teach them, preach to them? Why yes, Quran tells us we can and in beautiful ways we are directed to do so.
Now that we have nailed down the definition of compulsion we can begin to look at other things.
If I held a sword to your throat and said, "say the shahada" and you say it. Are you moslem then? Is the shahada worth anything if someone who says it doesn't mean? Of course not. If I say, "I believe as Jesus as my savor" and dont mean it, then is it worth anything? It's not even worth spit.
So, the Moslem armies went to Spain and all over the world..."and took over by sword." Well, we have just established that there is no compulsion in religion, so how could the residents/the conquered really be moslems?
Also consider this, during those times 800 AD, the Moslems were REAL Moslem. The Hadith came after Muhammad by 250+ years. So the moslems who "conquered" were most likely TRUE Moslems.
But, for the sake of it, lets say that the hadith existed and lets say that they were horrible people. Just for the sake of the arguement and that the moslems back then didn't even read Quran.
What did they bring to the places they "conquered"? Science, technology, astronomy, mathmatics, they brought the foundations of the future. If one researches "The Moors" of Spain they can see what amazing things they brought with the help of Allah.
Recap
- There is no compulsion in religion. Even if the moslems today set out to force everyone to be moslem, then the fact that there is no compulsion still remains. The conquered would not be Moslems, and the conquerers are most definatly not Moslem. Think about it, if someone who doesn't follow the Quran, like a Christians, convered with force thousands of people, then what does that say about the thing he is convereing people into? It says that its not what he is claiming. In this case, if the Christian is forcing my town to convert to Islam and knows nothing of Islam, then surely what we are being converted into isn't Islam, because our converter isn't Moslem himself.
Its like a some guy with no educational background teaches about Blackholes. Saying they lead to a place called "Khalakhala" and the ruler of Khalakhla is your moms second cousins dog. Well, what he is teaching isn't about blackholes at all, so what is the info you are being taught? Well, the info is wrong. Therefore its not REALLY what blackholes are like. This is a simmilitude to the previous paragraph.
All in all, the moslems conquered the lands, and preached Islam. Like Muhammad had sent lettered to the leaders around Makka to come to Islam. Which is why he sent teachers to other tribes, town, cities or preach to them and teach them the Quran.
The Moslems conquered the lands, and the people saw truth and converted to Islam.
Allahu Akbar!

by the same logic. Which army marched into Denmark? No army. But well paying missionaries did. Denmark got christianed by a preist who knew how to walk on fire.

Ohhh so thats why we have sunnism and shiitism running rampant. because they heard the truth. No, they were forced at swordpoint, and becasue you cant do that. we know have sunnism and shiitism running rampant. These people went back to their old ways, but disquised it so the masters would be pissed of. That is why there is relegions like santaria (christian voodoo) aswell. Dont do as the sunnis do, and try and deny our past. Im well aware what the scripture says, but that has no relevance to what happened in history. Im not sayind that all places where converted like this, but neither was christiandom spread only by the sword.

Hehe, Salam brother,
I appreciate your input, though the manner in which you're posting it is rather childish.
Not that I am offended but there is no need for "Ohhh so thats why we have...". It seems as if you were ridiculing my intelligence. Considering that you are aware of what Quran says, then you are aware of
And argue not with the People of the Book except by what is best, save such of them as act unjustly. But say We believe in that which has been revealed to us and revealed to you, and our God and your God is One, and to Him we submit. So brother, argue with me in the best way, not by the means you started out your post, "Oohh so thats why..."
Also, regarding kind words
Kind words and the covering of faults are better than charity followed by injury. Allah is free of all wants, and He is Most-Forbearing.
Brother, you say you are aware yet you do not argue with me in the best of manner. The rest of your post is ok though.
Now to the meat of the subject.
- What is conversion worth when there is a sword in your face?
- When did we start to get Sunni's and Shia's?
- Who decides whose moslem or not, the sword, or the person converting?
I dont do as the sunni's do by covering out past, I'm making a statement about compulsion in religion and WHO is really being converted by WHAT and WHY.
The verse I quoted has EVERYTHING to do with what history says.
Brother this sentance boggles my mind, could you please care to elaborate a little more?
"Im not sayind that all places where converted like this, but neither was christiandom spread only by the sword."From your post I understand that you believe that Islam was spread by the sword, and now you are saying, "not all places were convertd like this , but christianity wasn't only spread by the sword, there were other means as well as sword being used to spread".
Is that was you said, if so, let me know, so we can further discuss this. )
-
From your post I understand that you believe that Islam was spread by the sword
Absolutely i do. But not exclusively. Afterall, the Quran alone movement did excist alongside this. It just had a nasty habbit of dying at the hands of the muslims.
and similar to this, there are monotheist christians to be found. But are there many of either? no.
-

In the name of Allah, The Beneficent, The Merciful.
Salam brother,
That doesn't make much sense. There never existed a Quran alone movement back then. The Quran alone movement started once the hadith was complete and used.
Bukhari was born in 810.
Muhammad died 632
Different of 178 years. How could there be a Quran only movement when ONLY the Quran was used.Lets say for the sake of arguement the Hadith was written 30 years after his death. Even so, there never existed a Quran only movement because there was never anything to try to get Moslems to follow something other than Quran.
Please elaborate
Allahu Akbar.
-
Peace,
According to the scripture, indeed God says there should be no compulsion in religion. However I think u miss the point bro Reza. We are talking about reality. I believe no one can can refute that in many places (Not all) Islam was spread through invasions, though many of the conquered people accepted the faith voluntarily due to the enlightment that tthe foreign invaders brought along. Similary, on the other hand Christianity too was spread in the same manner, maybe much worse, in many places, especially during the colonial era.
Im a muslim myself and I believe it will not do us any harm to admit that many mistakes that are against the laws of God had been done by our fellow muslims in the past. Instead it will do us good because we will know what our ancestors did wrong therefore we will not do the same in the future.
-
I dont get it, what are you talking about?. the major conquering didnt happen when Mohammad was here at all. And when these major conquerings started, there was altso people who never forgot. But what was spread wasnt islam based on the Quran.

after this. Bukhari came in an collected the folklore connected to all this bloodshed and it became the relegion of islam itself. Excactly how it all happened. I dont know i was not a witness. But it is obvious that it wasnt all "good speak" that made people convert in many places.
-
Brother Magi, you did not read fully my original post on here, nor have you yet responded to me regarding the hadith. Allow me to back track and use the simmilitude.
Thats what I said.
In other words, the ones who weren't conquering were actually moslems. I'm not in anyway saying that they are 100% pure moslems and true believers. I was actually agreeing with out in saying that since there is no compulsion in religion, the people who were conquering weren't following the Quran.
Get back to me brother.
EDITED Typo mistake "who were conquering" = "who weren't conquering".
-
no and the people who were doing the vaticans dirty work werent christians. We can all hide behind these technicalities, or accept it as part of where we are today. Ofcourse they didnt follopw the quran when they were converting people at swordpoint, but they still did so, and these people are widely still muslims, or sunnis or whatever cult they are a member of. Im sorry if i misunderstood you.
My point being the same as yours. You cant convert people like that, they will go back to their old ways, alltho they may disguise it, so its not all too apparent. And slowly, it will transform back into what it was only taking bits and parts of the new system imposed on them.
-
Alhamdullelah. Brother, we were debating over the same thing while we were agreeing. lol.
My mistake for not clearing up my point.

peace
what a waste of words and time. The pope quoted someone else, and rightly did so. There is nothing in his statement that are unfair, as this is how islam was spread, just like any other relegion. Through conquest. So the line of pharaos he is part of have done wrongs? yes absolutely and i doubt anyone has forgot about them. what does it help anyone, or anything to start mudslinging at each our shady past?in many aspects we are even worse than they are, as we claim it is not so. They accept their history!
Dear Magi
The word Peace does not fit your mouth, since you are undermining the warmongering military agression of the West, which has been hundreds times more violent and cruel than of the so-called Muslims.
You obviously did not read my article since your reaction shows lack of knowledge on my point. Had you read my article, you would have noticed that it connects the past and present and focuses on present more than on the past. But, like many, you preferred a knee-jerk reaction to an important issue.
Instead of trying to defend Pope or the agression and Crusades he is trying to justify, look around the world and see the occupation and aggression of the so-called Christians in the world and the amount of blood they are shedding. Hundreds of times more cruel and terrorizing than the so-called "islamic terrorists." If quoting something is a NEUTRAL act, as you are trying to depict Pope's remark, here I am quoting something for you
"I abuse the priests, indeed, who have so much abused the pure and holy doctrines of their Master, and who have laid me under no obligations of reticence as to the tricks of their trade. The genuine system of Jesus, and the artificial structures they have erected, to make them the instruments of wealth, power, and preeminence to themselves, are as distinct things in my view as light and darkness; and while I have classed them with soothsayers and necromancers, I place Him among the greatest reformers of morals, and scourges of priest-craft that have ever existed. They felt Him as such, and never rested until they had silenced Him by death.
Government, as well as religion, has furnished its schisms, its persecutions, and its devices for fattening idleness on the earnings of the people. It has its hierarchy of emperors, kings, princes, and nobles, as that has of popes, cardinals, archbishops, bishops, and priests. In short, cannibals are not to be found in the wilds of America only, but are reveling on the blood of every living people." (Thomas Jefferson, Letter to Charles Clay, Jan 29, 1815).

Dear Edip
then you are missing my point. I guess i can be pretty short headed at times. It does not matter who has the more violence under the belt, not then, not now, not in the future. They are all wrong, and the best we can do, is ignore them. No amount of words is going to change anything, but utter lack of corporation and spreading that tune will make a change.
If quoting something is a NEUTRAL act, as you are trying to depict Pope's remark, here I am quoting something for you
Not neutral. it is not worth paying any attention to. Let him have his view, let him talk himself out of a voice. The worst thing you can do to powercrawing people is to ignore them. Pretend they are not there, and if they want to pick a fight over it, hand it to them. But up untill that point, just pretend they arent there. What we are doing by even replying to such stuff is dropping down to their level. My Dad always said to me, and i dont know who the quote really belongs to. "Never argue with an idiot, they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience".
Its not that your article is bad, and i DID read it. You have a way with words. But i view it as an utter waste of time, because all you are doing is catching the ball a player from little legaue is throwing.
I will use an example from my own little sphere to demonstrate what i mean.
In Denmark we have this guy
http//www.balder.org/presse/presse-billeder/Moses-Hansen.jpgtake a good long look at him, he is called Moses Hansen, and has declared war on islam. I love his shirt with the star of saturn saying Jesus comes back. And another one that says, Jesus is alive, Mohammad is dead. In 2002 he decided to take a cross and walk down through the muslim quarter of copenhagen.
http//www.watchman.dk/artikler/islam/020907alleellerallah.jpg
Those guys the police are holding back is not the muslims, but the danish halal hippies (danes with misplaced sympathy). So how did the muslims react?!. They didnt!
It became the political flop of that year, he was a laughing stock. And when he had passed through the streets a couple of times, laughter started. First in a few groups, but eventually the whole street were laughing becasue the situation was so ridiculous.Right now all kinds of organisation are doing what they can to provoke the muslims worldwide. And we would all do good to just flat out ignore this kind of nonsense. Greet them with peace, and leave it at that. To me the keyword of the post im writing this in response to is "so called".
Socalled muslims are going to fight socalled christians, and it will by large be payed for by socalled jews, now why would you want to get involved with that in any way what so ever?
to sum it up. my point is. let the fools talk all they want to, that way the rest of us can spend time on something worthwhile like the FED or world bank structures. The things that are in control of all our lifes, nomatter if we live in the bank district of EU, US or sudan. We have the same masters, and they love that we spend our time talking about these non issues instead of using our heads and not take the bones they hand us.
I lose my hope in humanity when I see almost a quarter of human population reveres a man pretending to be infallible, a man who follows a chain of many "infallible" others who burned people on stakes, led witch hunts, tried to stop the earth from rotating around the sun...
and i loose it when i see that we are now dumbed down to the level where we can be stripped of habeus corpus and actually belive that it is a good thing. How i would love to see this same efford of yours on subjects like these instead.
All the best
-
Hi Magi,
Your remarks seem very inline with the quran.
"The servants of the Almighty are those who tread the earth gently, and when the ignorant speak to them, they only utter peace." (2563)
QXP 2855
(Additionally) whenever they hear vain talk of ridicule, they withdraw from it decently and say, "To us our deeds and to you yours; Peace be upon you, we do not seek to join the ignorant. (2572).Nadeem

Dear Magee
I do not consider Pope as a small player, and comparing him and his institution to a few street demonstrators is utter nonsense. We cannot ignore Pope's remark about islam. Furthermore, Pope did not criticize the so-called Muslims, but falsely attacked the Quran and its prophet Muhammad.
Sure, pope and his supporters expected to provoke Muslims into violence, in order to justify their own accusation and violence. However, with the exception of a few violent reaction, the Muslim world reacted peacefully.
My response is not a reaction that would make pope and his allies happy. My reaction was a proper one and it is necessary.
The Quran does not ignore many of the mushrik's claim against God, His message and messenger. There are indeed many verses addressing them. Thus, I disagree with brother Nadeem regarding the applicability of the verses advising tolerance and silence, in this case. I will not ignore pope, since he has joined his emperors in the USA and UK in their deceptive propaganda and bloody war against islam and the Muslim world. I am not defending the aggression of Muslims, but in this fight, I am trying to raise the voice of the truth and justice for those who can still reflect. You should have been the last people who who would bellittle this voice.
Peace,
Edip -

Dear Edip
why? what is the problem? if we react to his provocation in any way we are saying that we need to defend ourself. I dont need to defend myself against ludicris claims, in fact, i feel elevated above them because i know that truth stands on its own. It is said that it has been made clear from falsehood.
Sure, pope and his supporters expected to provoke Muslims into violence, in order to justify their own accusation and violence. However, with the exception of a few violent reaction, the Muslim world reacted peacefully.
what do you reckon would have happened if the muslims did nothing at all, no reaction what so ever. merely a "thats nice, have a nice day "
My response is not a reaction that would make pope and his allies happy. My reaction was a proper one and it is necessary.
it is a sober one, but its going to make no difference. Their agenda is obvious, and i dont want to play game in their court by their rules.
Im merely telling you what i feel about it, and what i think would do the difference. And i was thinking in the line of what Nadeem presented (thank you) So i will leave it at agreing to disagree.
Peace
