The Dream
-
Peace be upon you,
I'm probably the only person on the forum to start two topics in this section.
I just wanted to tell people about what started my spiritual journey (sometime during the summer of 2004). It was a dream.
I dreamt that it was the end of the world. The last day. The earth was falling apart. Everyone was running around, afraid, including myself. I remember that all I wanted to do was pray (sunni salat that is). I wanted to keep praying, rakat after rakat after rakat. It was as if nothing else in the world mattered, only my prayer. And so I prayed...then I woke up.
It was around noon ( P). I got up, took a shower, and prayed zuhur (including the optional rakats). I did the same for every other prayer of the day (except the shower part). And I prayed 5 (or at least 4) times a day from then on. I started memorizing chapters from the quran. I also started surfing the internet for Islamic websites so I can learn the right way to do things.
And the more I learned, the more questions I had. I coudn't accept the fact that music was forbidden, or that Islam went against the theory of evolution. And I started debating about these things, and that's how I ended here, and my real spiritual journey began.
I felt very much like Neo does when he discovers what the actual reality of the earth and mankind is.

Peace be upon you,
I'm probably the only person on the forum to start two topics in this section.pheonix, i do not second that.
i also had a dream similar to yours. 2 days before 9/11 i dreamt that the whole world collapsed.(the third world War) there was nothing left except the desert full of sand. i was facing the sun reading the quran with my mom(only the two of us survived). sometimes i feel as if there is no time concept(meaning there is no past, present and future, or at least how we are perceived to understand the concept of time)
when i was very young, i dreamt my death... i remember when i died i didn't die alone... i dies with my family my mother and and my brother. i told that dream to my mom, and didn't understand its meaning until my sister got married and my father died. that was quite an adventuruous dream.
i dreamt the judgement day once(how it is porttrayed in the hadith and the quran) during the summer of 2002.(the time after my fathers death and during my sister's marriage) that was a time when i always prayed 5 times i stopped preying after that i had the argument i had with my christian friend + puberty(see my first post in this forum).
i have also dreamt of a giant as tall as the sky(when i was three), i told my mom i saw allah in the dream. she laughed
there was a time in my life when i believed the quran and sunnah was the only way towards salvation... and i was on a firm certainty... for a while!
anyways peace

I had the SAME dream as a child. I just didnt make the mistake of telling the adults about it. ;D
I remembering telling people about this dream/concept I had as a 6 year old. That there was something living inside of us, and can see the world through our eyes, and that "thing" was floating in darkness and using our eyes as bonaculars to see the world. At the time, I had no concept of soul or the cliche "eyes are the windows to your soul". Everyone laughed at me when I told them. whatever

It wasn't summer of 2005, it was summer of 2004! confused
For a year and a half, I could call myself a proud Muslim. It actually felt pretty good. And the 5 time prayers are good at keeping you disciplined. I had no trouble doing finishing my assignments on time that year. One thing I've learned in my life, is that nothing is simple. Everything is really, really complicated. Everything has like 35 dimensions.

Peace Phoenix
Thanks for sharing.
Yea I agree salat does keep you disciplined. I just can't get myself to do them.
I also had a dream when i was a child of seeing everyone in hell and i was screaming for someone to help me
it was quite frightening
and i had a dream about visiting the kaba. i looked under the curtain and saw all this silver and gold writing and i was saying all these words in arabic that i dont recognize . i was crying like crazy as i ran my hands over the gold and silver imprints of ayat going around the kaba slowly crying and saying something. and i heard echoes of others around me saying the same words .
i also thought when i was really young that God was this huge mass of smoke sort of shaped like a human but not really cuz its just smoke and he has a smile and is always laughing D astaghfurullah God forgive me but i was just a kid
