    Hi

Will be getting a tattoo very soon. Want something quranic but not in arabic but translated in english. Is there a quote or a verse you like or would get as a tattoo to remember or keep you on focus in life. That's really the purpose i require one for that will keep me focused. So anything quranic or words of wisdom which are supported by the quran please drop your ideas here ;D

    PEACE

        Peace be upon you

While I second the coment from Alpha 97, I am sure you are already aware of that.

There are so many things you could get, but Islam's main message is SALAAM, purifying the NAFS so that you can reach the level of SALAAM. I dont know what you shoudl get, but I just wanted to share that point which might help you decide.

I myself, 3 years ago I got a tatoo of an Egyptian Herioglyph, it is the hawk headed man, standing on a pig and has it tied up. Pictures are worth 1000 words is the main point, but it basically means that we must transcend the animal nature within us, not KILL IT, but transcend it.

Thanks for your replies. While I understand both your points having it engraved in your hearts isn't likely going to remind you. If you gotta do something or remember something you write it down. Yeh i know i could write it on a piece of paper carry it around me ;D but tattoos are smart in my opinion so just really wanted examples so more replies needed...come on people ???

              Salam.

              The Quran, 4119.
"And I will misguide them and make them desire, and I will command them, so that they will mark the ears of the livestock, and I will command them so they will make change to God's creation." Whoever takes the devil as a supporter other than God, then he has indeed lost a great loss.

              Salam.

                Peace be upon you Alen,

Do you cut your hair, cut your nails?

While I am not saying that Tatoos are necessarily correct, I do not think that verse is referring to tatoos.

If you are looking for true rememberance, you must burn it into your SUBCONSIOUS. This is done through the state of TRANCE which we go in and out of everyday, which is why we have the conditionings we have and must transcend and purify. Television commercials and "good" TV shows put us in trance very expertly. Radios stations using repitition (a method of trance induction) program us, so we end up singing dumb songs all day. The arts (like tatooing) are means of helping us to remember, which is why the people of Khemet used hieroglyphics and statues.

Regarding a Tatoo however, mine doesnt do much to remind me of anything, because I rarely see it myself, and unless its summer no one else will see it in order to comment on it in roder to remind me. And even then, my friends who I am around most have already seen it plenty of times, so they wont comment on it in order to remind me. So I say that to say, dont get a tatoo for the only purpose of reminding you, it doesnt work well for that.

Rememberance is only through "salaat", programming of the subconcious so those thoughst start coming to you that YOU programmed, not what TV, RADIO of the "Goliath" give you.

Putting aside whether its "right" or "wrong" or you would or would not recommend. What quranic ayat you think would be powerful or some wisdom quote you think would be suitable for a tattoo. I don't want this topic turning into a debate on whether its allowed or not..... ;D

                      Peace to all,

How about There is no God but God, if you must get one this would be what i suggest, its the hardest thing to remember for mankind it seems. They constantly try to associate others with God when this is the one thing he commands we must not do. I personally am against tatooes but its not for me to decide, let you make up your own mind and then answer to God for it someday, he will tell you the truth of all that you do. If it helps you to remember God and to not associate others with him then I think it may be benefitial for you, then go for it brother. I remember that I was trying to find a salat watch or clock to help remind me when to do my prayers but then I decided not to get one, I figured that it should be upto me to consciously remember God and my prayers and not to realy on some mechanical mechanism that is programmed for me, the point is to program our own subconsciences and we dont do that if other things are needed to remember. Anyways, let me know what you decided on getting.

                      Kurt

I have nothing against tatoos. Nature supplies its own tatoos on some individuals.

Does it make it any different if it was permanent or temporary (designs by henna, eyeliners, drawing eyebrows with a pencil or a tatoo)?

Since it is for reminding purposes, how about "Remmember me, I shall remeber you"? (2152)

                          Peace

My brother got a tattoo of the eye of horus on his leg. He never regretted it although there were plenty of times he wished others wouldn't see it. Like Idolfree says a picture is worth a thousand words. I would say it should be of something that has personal meaning to you and your life. Maybe pick up the quran every night from now on and just read a page until something pops out at you. Or if you feel like your life struggles have mimicked anything any prophets mentioned in quran you can flip to those ayat and see which one sums it all in your eyes. quran to me has a very subjective quality to it. everyone can read one group of ayat and come away with it with a different shade of meaning.. and depending where i am in my life it could mean certain things and later something else . That's why i think it would be a disservice to you for me or anyone else to tell you its this one or that. I think you'd be better off finding one that fits you the most.. after all its your body! ;D

But if you still want my opinion the ayat that make me feel sooooooooo at peace is ya ayyatuha el nafs el motma'enna . erjaee ila rabbeky raadayatan mardayya. fa edkholy fi ebady wa edkholy jannaty.
                          8927-30

It's probably alot to tattoo on you but i just love these ayat. it really makes something inside me feel at peace when i read it, God be Praised. The power of the word is amazing.

Keep us posted on what you're thinking of too!

                              Peace,

I am not for tatoos. You don't need tatoos to be a righteous individual.

Ask yourself this, do you really need one to remind you of Allah as you say? ...Or are you looking for an excuse to get one?

                              Just my two pence worth.

                              Peace.

u dont need a verse saying "dont tattoo dudeeeee" to not do it.
first of all, without verses, ill tell u what i remember from quran...
brother alen said it,its modifying allah's creation, that ink will stay, changing the way it was before.
it hurts, costs money and will be there to show..so there u have harming your body, wasting money on vain things, and pride of an material put on you to make u feel better(showing off).
brother, please repent and dont get it,theres more better things to do with that money, time and pain.
follow the wisdom of quran,i hope people here are not rejecting hadith just to do what they want...because in quran it doesnt say "no tattoo" it doesnt mean its a good thing to do to yourself.

Quran protects you with the Message passed through the pages. If you wear ayatul kursi or any other ayat for that matter than you are putting your trust in power from a physical object thus making you an idol worshipper.Don't even think for a moment your body will be more protected if you have a verse from the Quran on it. I seriously doubt that Allah's intention in sending us the Quran was for us to make the Quran an idol.

I have to say i agree with Asperin and WinterWhite here, true, totally true, i agree.

First we have to look in The Quran and see if this tatoo is even allowed in Islam, i mean, painting a body, i got nothing against it, i sometimes see people with tatoos and some have interesting pictures.

I got nothing against tatoos but i won't get one.
                                      Salam.

                                        Peace Winter White

It is not the word written down on paper or skin that will protect your body, but the remembrance of that word on a chain or a paper or a tattoo. Please don't throw around the word shirk. There is no shirk involved here. I carry around a prayer with me written on paper and wrapped up. It was given to me by a Nigerian sheikh. He told me, as I also believe to be true, that "keeping something with you does not give that something power, nor the person who gave it to you power. Power is only with God and He is the Grantor of Good but I pass my energy and love in wrapping this prayer that we prayed together and hope that when you carry it you remember this prayer and your heart utters it just from a glimpse of it even when your mind and body are busy with other forms of worship (work, etc). His words indeed echo in my heart and I will forever remember the prayer inside that wrapping, even though I physically performed it only once.

I think in the same manner the physical performance of getting a tattoo (a new experience, with pain, determination etc.) will have the same effect on our brother.

Also, God's words have a higher vibrational value than say, heavy metal death "songs"

                                          Salaam

Just to correct people im not lookin for an excuse to get a tattoo im jus merely asking for ideas. I want something that has wisdom or from the quran written in english just as a mere preference. I don't understand people's logic in saying having tattoo is changing Allahs creation. In that case cutting hair, wearing clothes, make up etc would be changing creation too.......i think peoples interpretation from that ayah is incorrect in my opinion.

Thank you so much for your input BOOST about your experience with the nigerian sheikh.....God willin i can experience something like that everyday. You are right about having the same experience with a tattoo as it's with you for life and hence i think its worthwhile having something meaningful.

                                          PEACE
