Root word M-R-J confused!
-
Salaam,
M-R-J mentioned in 505, 5515 & 19.
Someone one the Beeb board picked this up, it appears as a logical error in translation. Hans Wehr is brief on the word, disorder, confusion, jumble.
5519 in Rashad translation calls it "seperate", is there any other entries in Lane that anyone knows about or can offer explanations merging vs an inviolable barrier seems contradictory in translation.thanks,

Khalifa

Shakir
And He it is Who has made two seas to flow freely, the one sweet that subdues thirst by its sweetness, and the other salt that burns by its saltness; and between the two He has made a barrier and inviolable obstruction.
"Progressive Muslims"
And He is the One who merges the two bodies of water. This is fresh and palatable and this is salty and bitter. And He made between them a partition and an inviolable barrier.
