    Peace "nerspi",

    peace

ok, but since jinn has more then one meaning, is there any chance, or any ayyah in the qur'an that would imply, that jinn is a not human but a different being/creation?

JK- Yes IMO there is. Rea sura 72 fore example. GOD Bless!

Nonsense Jonny, complete nonsense. Jinn means 'something hidden'. They talk about God having no wife or son. They talk about listening to the 'angels' through the stars. It is known Jewish, Christian and Persian monks lived in the deserts, travelling. They were fortunetellers and astrologers. Monks live outside society, and are thus hidden for the public. Which is why they are called Jinn. A snake is also called jinn or janna, but a snake is not invisible is it? It is called jinn because it is rarely seen, and mostly only at the last moment. Monks tried to tell the future through the stars. Qabala is a known Jewish form of Astrology. Nostradamus used it too. No need for believing in unsupported creatures when easy answers are right in front of us.

      My commentary on Surah 72

"This clear enough, as it directly refers to the nomads, hermits, travelers living in the time of Muhammed. At that moment they were seen by the prophet, so there status of being jinn, doesnt always refer to the direct situation, but to the normal situation. Normally these people were not seen by Muhammed and his people, and by thus carry the title jinn, rarely seen. That told about the Quran, when they got back to their people. Here they also refer to human activity of telling fortunes through the stars, and acknowledging that it will only work against them. Describing themselves, as some of us good, some of us bad. There is my vision, no doubt that here jinn is meant as the persons normally not seen, the nomads, hermits, monks. That they were most likely Followers of Jesus or Jews who believed in idols, as Osiris, can be seen by verse 723 ?Exalted is the glory of our Lord; He has neither wife nor son.?"

And here is my conclusion on what Jinn are

      "Conclusion.

I have tried my best to give make an as clear answer as I can from the Quran itself. I believe, I have proven that the word jinn, doesnt has a fixed meaning, as it is depended on the context of the verses. We have come across the meanings as ego, desires, fantasies, bad/evil thoughts, emotions as hate, anger. Humans living out of direct view of the more populated societies, as nomads, people living in jungles. People working behind the scenes in politics, rulers of nations or religious groups, intelligent people that live secluded. Monks, nuns, hermits. Bums, top criminals, people living maybe in a city, but are not part of its system. People living in secluded villages or societies and so on. People of the past, legends. Ancestors, imaginary idols, peerless people. More ideas can come up, as the word jinn is versatile in its applying. But I hope to have broken the myth of the invisible spirits, as these are not given in the Quran. I admit, they are also not denied, as they can fall under the term hidden, but there has been no verses given at all, that give any clue of their existence. The rule I applied here, is looking for the meanings of words, through text analysis, instead of applying given fixed title meanings, is in my eyes, the true key to the Quran, the Reading, as it will give wider understandings, in words as Djenna, Jahannam, mailik-ah and so on. More research must be done, may God accept this work. All faults are of my own. May this be the start.."

        Arnold Yasin

First of all, listening by the stars, means eavesdropping.
Jinn are beings of smokeless fire. The meaning doesn't change throughout the Quran. They are the same as spirits, also found in other religions. In christianity they are known as "the watchers" or "nephilim" aswell, probably a term used by someone who didn't know them so well. In Buddhism there is a jinn called Mara, which equates to Iblis. The name changes according to the time, and whoever was the enemy of the reciever of gnosis at that time. My devil was "Tika."

          Peace bro "Arnold",
Whilst i agree with you most of the time here i can only agree to disagree for the time being. I agree however that "Jinn" means "hidden" just like "ins" means "sociable, one at tranquility etc(http//www.studyquran.org/LaneLexicon/Volume1/00000150.pdf)". It is also derived from a root and means many things in general later adopted for a certain being. And so the Quran used it to indicate "human" which itself is a word with general meaning but has been used to define us beings. Neither "jinn" nor "insaan/nas" are proper nouns. They all have some meanings and are derived from certain roots whose meaning are general. So i dont see any problem. It all depends on how the Quran defines a term and IMO just as it has defined "nas/insaan" as specific beings so has it done with jinn/jaan. GOD Bless!

but how does that explain the "ghosts" moving things around the house?

              salaam

so much has been said about them jinns, but how many has ever had an encounter/experience with them?

imho, surah jinn has the best explanation on them jinns. it may perhaps be that when we read the verses literally, we may initially find that some of the meaning (narratives, suggestions, explanations, etc.) may be 'out of this world' or strange or beyond comprehension. but please remember that Allah, the Compassionate Mercy is beyond human perceptions. still, insha-Allah he will make some of us understand the 'strange'.

a narrative will only be comprehended when it is experienced. otherwise, it will be just another empty talk, even Allah, the Compassionate Mercy. so, have patience with Allah please.

              peace

                  salaam arnold

you are right. you are right. you are right. but that's very much relative to you.

for us, Allah has the only and best explanations, for it is His knowledge, and He will make us understand insha-Allah accordingly. the problem with some people is that they thought they know better than the next person, and worst still they thought have a better explanation than Allah. subhan-Allah!

the whole issue is perhaps just about human attitude towards Allah the Compassionate Mercy. when say, Allah explained that x is such and such, most people with less understanding usually say that's ridiculous. another with a bit more understanding may say, yes that that is possible, and yet another with a better bit of understanding says, yes, it is right for Allah is never wrong.

some will attempt to explain (but subject to their mind's capabilities), some will attempt to add other sources (this is a very common phenomenon - the introduction od hadith), while some others will have full trust (haqq al-yaqeen) in Allah the Wise to teach them. basically, different people with different attitudes towards Allah the Lord of creations = different premises.

this is all about being muslim.

                  peace

also, how can "ghosts" posses humans?
there are people who said they were possesd by ghosts,
i'm just wondering how is that possible and
                    what really happened?

These are mental patients. You would be surprised how people can delude themselves. They make them believe themselves to be possessed and start acting it. Some get huge strength because they lost their mental block on their muscles. This is the same a person believing he is napoleon, a case of self-illusion. Sadly a superstitious surroundings will strenghten the person's illusion by really believing the person is possessed by jinns or ghosts.

                            Salamun alaykum

The more verses I read about The Jinn the more I am convinced that Jinn are Men like us , what other Conclusion can you draw if they ( The Jinn ) have hearts , Eyes, Ears ( Intellectual Faculties ) but choose not to use them ? I just kept coming back to this Verse whenever I think of The Jinn.

7179 - Many are the Jinns and men we have made for Hell They have hearts wherewith they understand not, eyes wherewith they see not, and ears wherewith they hear not. They are like cattle. Nay more misguided For they are heedless of warning.

A bit tired of the all the different Theories thrown up about The Jinn , surely some of the People in the forum have some simple and logical Definition of It ? The only Jinn ( spirit ) I know for sure is......the One in the Bottle , so please Wise People in the forum , give us your Clear Definition of a Jinn .

                            Thank you and God Bless

okay we know that jinns are humans.
my question is how can iblis have soldiers
2695 As well as all the soldiers of Satan.

was satan(iblis) one of the angels?
in christianity he is known as the fallen angel
1530 Thus, all of the angels yielded.
1531 Except for Satan, he refused to be with those who yielded.

Is it not a Quranic Fact that malaikats have No Desires other than to Glorify Allah ? Iblis on the other hand had or has Desires and Egos as well as Needs , so IMHO Iblis ( Jinn ) is = Human ;D

in your book, angels are referred to as powers of nature.
now as i understand that means angels are not beings made from actual light and wings but something else, powers of nature.
and in the quran they talk, so what i was wondering what are these powers of nature?
could you name them? are they wind, rain... or something else?
                                      i don't know.

                                        Salaam Nerspi,

Nowhere does the Quran say they are made out of light, nor does it mention they have wings.

Excerpt from my collection-book 'Short Articles'

You have this very misunderstood verse

351 All Praise is due to Allah, the Originator=fatiri of all Highs and their Lows, Who appoints His angels as message-bearers having wings=ajnihatin two, three and four. (Many of the angels, the physical laws in the Universe, have more than one function). He increases in creation what He Will. For, Allah is the Appointer of due measure of all things, and He is Able to do all things.

To understand the complete meaning of this verse, we must look at the words used. Allah is mentioned here with one of His Attributes, Fatir. This comes from the root fatara, which means to cleave or break, also it means bring forth and to create something new or for the first time. Scholar Muhammed Ali believes it refers to the creation of matter at the BigBang, which I agree with. As the BigBang was cleaving/disunite the merged energy and creating it into something new, matter. This is exactly the 2 meanings of the word fatara . Also from the same root, is the word fitrah, meaning compensition or originial substance, and thus refers to that all creation had the same origin of compensition.
This is why one of the understood meanings of Allah's name Fitrah is The Gift to know Allah through which He created Mankind. As fitrah, the original substance of mankind connects directly with the Maker of the fitrah. When this is all understood, then the true concept of the rest of the verse will become clear.

The word jiniha or janah, is normally translated with wing. But this in no way refers to a real wing like that of a bird. Janaha in Classic Arabic refers to power, as an old Arab saying goes Huwa maqsoes al-janah meaning, his wing is cut refering that that person has no strenght or ability and even that such a person is infertile. Ajnihatun coming from the same root, also means Wing of an Army or Shelter or Protection.

So this shows that the Malikah mentioned in this verse has multiple powers and abilities in the creation.

351 All Praise is due to Allah, the Originator=fatiri of all Highs and their Lows, Who appoints His Malikah=Lawbearers/Ones in Control and Authority as message-bearers having abilities of control=ajnihatin two's, three's and four's. He increases in creation what He Will. For, Allah is the Appointer of due measure of all things, and He is Able to do all things.

So which Malikah are referred to in this verse then?

The verse already starts with the Attribute of Fatir, the Originator of all energy of the Creation. And in the last part of the verse it says 'He increases in creation what He Will'. So these Malikah are Laws that control the growth process of the Creation. During the BigBang, innumerable laws sprung forth that determined the flow of the energy and guided it into matter and magnetic forces and other forces. So it are these Laws, for example the Planck Constant, that are the Malikah as told of in this verse.

This will explain for example this verse

3975 And you will see the angels surrounding the Throne of the Almightys Supreme Control extolling their Lords Glory and Praise. And all will be judged aright. And they will say in concert, All Praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds. (Allahs physical Laws in the Universe will help the guided mankind establish the Divine Rule on earth, as it is in the Cosmos. And the Divine System in the lives of mankind will make them truly see that all Praise indeed belongs to the Giver of such Benevolent Guidance).

Where the Malikah that hold the Throne of Supreme Control, are the Forces of Creation, that are so precise, they are the proofs of His Power and Glory, and thus Praise Him. Einstein's intelliegence was shown through his theories, and thus praise his ability, the same is with Allah, where His precise Laws show His Glory, and are thus a representation of praising His Abilities and Power.

Most people had their own made-up concept of Angels that they inherited from ancient Babylonian myhtology

3440 The Day He gathers all people He will ask the angels, "Did they worship you? They will say 3441 They will answer, "Glory is Yours! You are our Master, not them. Nay, they used to worship the invisible guises of their selfish desire=jinn=not seen. Most of them were believers therein.

People were worshipping their own illusion of what Angels were, this is why they are called jinn, not seen, as they do not exist.

                                          Salam nerspi,
Depends how you define the word "talk" ... "talking" in my opinion is used allegorically; similar to the notion "your actions speak for themselves".
