      Peace to all,

Siki, I think that it was compiled in the order that the Angel Gabriel had instructed Mohammad, which is different than the order of actual revelation, I assume God has a reason for this but I dont know what it is nor do I need to know.

If im wrong about Gabriel ordering it im sure someone here with more knowledge on the subject will correct me.

I do not think the Quran was "revealed" in a sequence as maintained by traditionalists... if we go by the revelation itself, it was, in its entirity, "revealed" in the "Night of Destiny". It was conveyed to people in a certain sequence based on events, but the order in my opinion was the same as it is in the book today.

maxq , i tend to agree with you, but i want to know where did the instructions come from for final compilation order?
did they come as a revelation?if yes ,would that mean, prophet Mohammad received more than quran from almighty(as claimed by sunnies) ? and why wasn't quran compiled by prophet himself , if the order was so important.
i am quite confused about the issue. help ,,,, any body//?

No I tend to think that he could visualize the Quran as a whole... there were no para-Quranic revelations in my view. There is plenty of evidence within the Quran itself that it was compiled in the time of the exalted prophet.

Also, writing by professional scribes was common in those days... moreover, I think that if the exalted prophet wrote the Quran on parchment himself, it would have been taken as an idol for sure. So perhaps this was a very strategic and thoughtful move by the great prophet.
