YUSUFALI Behold! Allah took the covenant of the prophets, saying "I give you a Book and Wisdom; then comes to you a messenger, confirming what is with you; do ye believe in him and render him help." Allah said "Do ye agree, and take this my Covenant as binding on you?" They said "We agree." He said "Then bear witness, and I am with you among the witnesses."At the moment without going into the details that he missed much to bring in the translation what is stated in the Arabic text, since he more or less kept relying on Urdu translations, just notice there is singular Messenger mentioned. In fact Arabic test says "That Messenger who is the affirmer of that which was with you all". And Yusuf and others little care to refer to timings and gaps mentioned in the Arabic text. And also naively incorrectly translate "I give you a Book and Wisdom", by ignoring the preposition and converting indefinite nouns used therein into definite nouns by using the capital letters.

Ayesha, you again missed this in all your quotes, please reread those verses, where one is affirming all the earlier Messengers.
Mazhar, if i confirm that I believe in the book Romeo and Juliet I am also by default confirming I believe William Shakespeare wrote that book
Jesus did not confirm the Law and then not confirm Moses was given that law, he confirmed the Law and by defaut is confirming the messenger of that law which is Moses whether he names him or not. All prophets confirmed what was before and by default also confirmed the messengers of those messages.
I have been wondering if this problem has anything to do with the caste system you and raj have been raised in and still have that you need to raise Muhammed above any other prophet because he was given Quran or was last? I dont mean to be rude when I say that either so please don't take offense, none is meant.
In fact Arabic test says "That Messenger who is the affirmer of that which was with you all".
so he confirms that which is with us, the parts of the message sent with previous prophets, and not the messengers now? ???i am getting dizzy now.

The address is to the chosen persons of Allah. The one who comes at the end only he can affirm all the earlier ones. And the second but last gave the advance news of coming of the last one.

Srange! A Judge of the Superior Courts of Pakistan and USA is a Judge all the time, notwithstanding where is he at a given point in time. But the Messenger of Allah is not the Messenger 24 hours a day!!!
you mean that a judge of a court of Pakistan can constitute a court anytime, anywhere , any country and start dishing out judgments?
He is a judge, only when he is presiding in a court on cases allocated to him by competent authorities. He cannot act as a judge where ever he wills, like for example, he cant bust into my house uninvited for dishing out judgments ,when me and my wife are disputing.

Judge of superior court is all the time Judge in his respective country and not only for that duration when he formally sits in a Court Room. Judges don't do such stupid things of entering into your house.

So long he is the serving judge, he is called Mr. Justice all the twenty four hours. He does not become Mr. A or Mr. B when he is not sitting in the Court administering formal justice. After retirement "Mr. Justice" remains the part of his name.

so does this judge have a boss, a superior incase he is wrong?
Yes, there is the Supreme Court. But a single Judge of the Superior Court cannot hear against the Judgement of a single judge of the lower court. There has to be a bench of two Judges. And interestingly there is no appeal or court where a complaint against the word of the Messenger could be filed. The word of the Messenger is the word of Allah, hence there is no contradiction; that is why it is said, "Accept the word of Allah and accept the word of the Messenger of Allah". This is because the Messenger orally and in writing narrates and communicates only the word of Allah-verbatum, syllable by syllable. Whoever accepts the word of the Messenger in fact accepts the Kalam/hadith of Allah, since hadith/kalam exists before it becomes the Qaul of the Messenger.

Ok, so are you saying everything the messenger said comes from Allah or just what is in Quran? How about whoever accepts the word of Allah in fact accepts the word of the messenger? Sorry but Allah is first and foremost and its His words that are in Quran as far as i'm concerned but if you wish to keep trying to prove Allah and Muhammed are more or less ONE then carry on.

The Messenger of Allah conveyed to people only that he received from Allah and it is written for ever in Qur'aan. He did not oblige anybody with any saying other than Qur'aan. It is you who say Allah is the foremost, but in time and space the majority of the people neither thought like this nor said like this. This is the Messenger of Allah who conveyes to people to believe in Allah with the understanding that He is the ONLY Ileha, advising and asking people to be allegiant to Him exclusively. It is not ME who says that accepting the word of the Messenger is but accepting the word of Allah, this is said by Allah. This does not mean that they are one. When Allah says this would you start thinking Allah is saying Me and Muhammad s.a.s. is one and the same thing?

"For this reason you people be mindful/cautious of Allah and listen and accept my word"Would you understand by this and allege that the Messenger is equating himself, {Allah forbids} with Allah?

I dare not revert the order of the words of Allah just to satisfy my own desires and inclinations. I have received through the Messenger these words of Allah

The Messenger of Allah conveyed to people only that he received from Allah and it is written for ever in Qur'aan.
ok we agree on that, what was said TO him BY Allah is RECORDED word for word in Quran.
He did not oblige anybody with any saying other than Qur'aan.
600,000 hadith wasnt it? all 'extra' to Quran and believed by millions of Muslims worldwide because of the verse you quoted saying the word of Muhammed is the word of Allah.
Exactly! So the verses saying believe Muhammeds word are for the people who were there with Muhammed at the time and didnt believe him to be a messenger of Allah or perhaps didnt believe in Allah, and we are now left with all this recorded in Quran. Muhammed said the same thing ALL messengers said and that is what you have just said, to be allegiant to ALLAH exclusively, so its not just me that says Allah is foremost, its Allah and all His prophets that say that too.
It is not ME who says that accepting the word of the Messenger is but accepting the word of Allah, this is said by Allah. This does not mean that they are one. When Allah says this would you start thinking Allah is saying Me and Muhammad s.a.s. is one and the same thing?
As you have just clarfiied that every word in Quran is that which was told to Muhammed by Allah and related syllable by syllable then the 'accept my word' is for those there at the time who were not accepting it and didnt understand that he was reciting syllable by syllable directly from Allah. Even you seem to be confused on this as you say on the one hand they are the words of Muhammed and 'prove' it by showing where he said 'accept MY word' while on the other hand saying he recited syllable by syllable what was given him by Allah. A road inbetween is that we accept that Muhammeds mouth was used to recite Allahs Words. For us in this time and space we dont have Muhammed but we do have the words of Allah as recited to Muhammed syllable by syllable, so we in effect have the direct words of Allah in Quran. As for thinking they are ONE, you said yourself that not all people in time and space have always understood things as they should be, which is how we got to Jesus being God in the flesh by some Christians, misleading people with understandings of the verses is how it starts, like hadith followers are just as convinced every word uttered by Muhammed, or even those close to him, is an appendix to Quran and is the 'Wisdom' and base that on verses like this one.We are now 1400+ years on from Muhammed and as you said there were many even then that misunderstood, imagine how much has been misunderstood over 1400+ years? The ultimate message from all messengers is belief in ONE GOD and here in Quran we have that ONE GOD'S WORDS, so really referrences to Muhammed's words are basically to show us that people didnt believe him back then and to tell them back then to believe his words, as they are the words of Allah recited syllable by syllable by Muhammed. Muhammed was a 'medium' for the words of God, a middle man, a messenger with a great message from God and now he is gone we will not meet him so we cannot 'greet' him or 'bless' him on greeting him and our prayers are for God Alone, as were Muhammeds. God also 'sent blessings' on us too, the people, so that we will come out of the darkness but we dont say sallalahu alaihi wasalam after mentioning each others names. I think/believe/imagine that when God asks us to 'send blessings on him and greet him with greetings' when greeting him would be similar to in English saying 'peace and may God bless you' to someone on meeting them, but not every time their name was mentioned as God himself didnt add sallahau alaihi wasalam every time Muhammeds name was mentioned in Quran, he says he sent/sends blessings as he also sent us blessings and to greet him showing respect, which I will certainly show him the utmost respect if I ever did meet him.
Moving on in my time and space I have given all this a great deal of thought and prayed and asked help, at which point I realized I am asking God IN my prayer to help ME and I also realized that I ask God IN my prayer to keep my family safe and protect them, so at this time this was my answer, that IN my prayer I can also ask God to send blessings on ALL His prophets and messengers and not just 'send blessings on Muhammed and his family as you did on Abraham and his family', but on ALL of those great men (or women) who were a vehicle of His message and that is not making any distinction/separation between any of the prophets and messengers as i believe in all of them even those i dont know the names of.

Rasool
Rasool is NOT the Name. It reflects job and assignment not name. Pl let me quote Allah the Sustainer Lord of the Worlds and Absolutely Knowledgable
http//www.haqeeqat.org.pk/English%20Tafsir%20e%20Haqeeqat/00.Arabic%20Text/048.%20Al%20Fatha/48.29.gif
Muhammad , is the Messenger of Allah,First is the subject and then is the predicate/news about him. And now these two the subject and the predicate can never ever be seperated. The minimum requirement to mention his name with respect is to add the predicate always while talking or writing about him.

But that does not mean that we should alter the words of Allah to combat such activity. We know about this phenomenon, it is not new or exclusively adopted during the last 1400 years. This is an old game.
