I am studying the word ("fah-alif-seen-qaf-ya-noon&quot and Lane has a reference to "Kur " http//www.studyquran.org/LaneLexicon/Volume6/00000182.pdf

Several times, I have not been able to correlate Lane's references to the Quran; in other cases, I have found a correlation but the verse number has differed by 1 or 2 verses.

I looked in verses 1848 and the 3 verses before and after with no joy. confused Can anyone shed some light on this for me (meaning why I am having difficulty identifying the verses that Lane references)?

    May peace be with you-
    Samir

Hmmm... my bad. I found what I was looking for in 1850. So does anyone know which Quran that Lane is referencing whereby the verse numbers are different? Lane referenced 1848, but all the translations I am working with (e.g. the 17 at IslamAwakened) has the verse as 18.50??

You have several numbering systems. In Lane's time there was no real agreement in the West on the numbering. For example Sale did not use any numbering in his translation. I'm not sure which one he used.
