But if the offender is not a male confused

Not sure about that. It's unlikely though.

Okay, here's something I wanted to share...I heard that there was a kid from our school, who, when he was 16, had sex with a 14 year-old girl. The parents of the girl found out and they reported it to the police, and the guy was convicted of statutory rape (having sex with someone who is under the age of consent which is not rape at all but it's supposed to be).
Now, he is a sex offender, and wherever he lives, the police have to go and inform his neighbors that he is a sex offender. They don't give them the details, just that he is a sex offender. And I think now he's fighting the law or something.
I don't think he deserves that, I don't think he deserves to have his penis glued to a table.

I mean along the lines of rapists...

How did the parents find out? Did she complain to them?

          peace Samia,
I don't know how her parents found out. But the point is, the guy didn't rape anyone.

Having sex with someone significantly younger than you even if you're a minor is considered statutory rape (that gap differs from state to state) basically because of the manipulating factor. He was more aware of consequences than she was and is impressionable. The age gap doesn't seem to be big enough though. However, again maybe laws in CT are a little stricter. Was he already convicted or did he not have his day in court yet?

              Salam.

              Saw 4? Maybe.

I think rapists should be punished according to The Quran, regardless where in the world it happens. In fact, i'm considering of writing a letter to the president of USA to install such a law there because American women are not only smart and cute, but there's lots of them who will bear the children of the future generations, who are important, because they will be, inshaALLAH, Quran alone Muslims, God willing.

              Peace.

                peace BOOST,
we're talking about a 16 year old here, not a grown man. We can't just assume that if someone is older, he/she knows more or understands more. But even the fact that he was convicted (his trial was years ago I think) of a crime is okay, if they let him have another chance. But he's been labelled a "sex offender" and no matter where he moves, that's what people will know him by. Just for that one fairly innocent mistake. That is just so wrong.

Usually the age gap is alot larger. For example a 16 year old with a 12 year old... wouldn't you agree he should know better than her then? but if he was 16 and she was 14 i think you said then to me that doesn't sound like the kind of age gap that would be justified. there must be something else to this story...

The point is, if the parents knew from her, most probably she complained. In this case, he had sex with her against her consent= raped her. No matter how old he is, this is serious; maybe even more serious regarding his age. Girls, even younger, have sex, and they do not tell their parents. Also, it is very known, even by young people, that there is age limit for buying tobacco, alcohol, driving, sex...how come he does not know?
