And whoever sees me in a dream then surely he has seen me for Satan cannot impersonate me. (Sahih Bukhari, Kitabul Ilm)

is that a hadith or something? i don't remember reading it in the qur'an.

can a person even dream of another human being whom he has never seen before?

Yes this is a saying of the Holy Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa salaam). If one has seen him in a dream and it matches perfectly his known physical description, than one has in fact seen him.

i don't think you can see the prophet in your dreams. you can only dream of things that are stored in your memory, and the prophet is not there. you haven't seen him in real life. so how can you see him in your dreams, how can you know what he looks like?

When you read a book, do you not imagine in your head what the characters in the book look like? It would be the same with the prophet. You would use what you know of him (ie. Age, culture, etc) to build an image and because of how dreams work you would know that image was the prophet.

I once had a dream where everyone I knew was animals, and even though none of them even closely resembled themselves I knew who everyone was.. Dreams are like that.

well yeah. i would imagine the prophet to look like a guy from arabia, tall...
so if i dreamt of a person like that, how would i know that it's the prophet?

actually wait, he's dead and he is not aware of himself, he will be when he's resurrected, so there's no way we can see any dead people in our dreams.

oh wait, people can dream of dead people, now i don't think they're actual souls of people that existed but just memories of them.
we just pick up the frequencies of dead people in the Quantum Field.

Dreaming of things stored in your memory is part of the nafsani dream. I am talking about a divine revelation in the form of a dream. In a normal dream, yes, what you dream of is based on what is stored in your memory. In a divine revelation dream, the contents of the dream are imposed by the Holy Spirit (Jibraeel). If one sees the Holy Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa salaam) in his dream, it is not based on memory or anything like that, it is in fact an inspired dream in which one has in fact seen the Holy Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa salaam).

but you wouldn't see a real image of the prophet, he does not come to your dreams. jibreel can because he is not a human. but the prophet, no.

he will become aware of himself when he is resurrected, just like the rest of dead people. and during their death, they're not awake and can not enter people's dreams.

and i don't think people other then chosen ones(prophets) can have divine revelation dreams. prophets sure, because they're prophets, they bring the message, and that ended with muhammad.

Assalamo alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu

Hazrat Mariam (alaihi salaam) was not a prophet yet she was a recipient of revelation, as the Holy Quran clearly shows. The Holy Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa salaam) said "Nothing is left of the prophethood except Al-Mubashshirat - The true good dreams (that conveys glad tidings)."

He also said "The (good) dreams of a faithful believer is one of the forty-six parts of prophethood." (Sahih Bukhari)

yes but she did not recieve the revelation in a dream.
i'm not saying people can't recieve revelations,
but they can't see dead people in their dreams.
mariam did not see any prophets in her dream.
i guess she was one of the chosen ones to have a revelation.

You are clearly contradicting the saying of our Holy Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa salaam) "Whoever has seen me in a dream, then no doubt, he has seen me, for Satan cannot impersonate me." (Sahih Bukhari) But of course if you do not believe in his sayings, then there is no means of reproach between you and I on this issue.

i am not contradicting the sayings of the prophet, i am contradicting what bukhari claims to be sayings of the prophet.
bedides, it doesn't say anything like that in the qur'an so it's not necessarily true.

and you're right, you and i can't talk about it.

I've had a dream of this sort of thing, I dreamt of judgment day, it was such a weird dream, I was quite ill afterwards.

It was when I was really young, still in primary school, would have been about 9-10 years old. It's the only dream I can actually remember with clarity, I'm the type of person who either rarely has dreams or rarely remembers them. I can't recall if I've even had a wet dream or not and thats something guys usually remember vividly. So it's interesting that of all the dreams that I could ever have, ever remember, it's this one.

Question, has anyone of you ever had a dream of this nature?

I had a dream about the end of the world and judgement day when I was 6-7 yrs old. It freaked me out because it was just so real and I still remember it with clarity but I usually remember my dreams and have had many vivid ones 'naturally'. I say naturally because I force dream mostly and those kinda force the 'natural' dreams out. At least that's my best explanation for natural and forced at this time. I'm not sure what the actual terms for this stuff are.

Anyway about the dream, the end of the world was when the sun came so close to the world and burnt everything up. I was standing on my doorstep of the second house we lived in (for a long time), and the sun came down, lots of heat and light, I could see it through the door and went closer, there was a bit of fear but mostly there was an acceptance that it's curtains and it's about time. Then judgement, and a level plain, lots of people, quite grey and hushed/muted. That's about as far as that went. I have had dreams of a repeated nature too, like within a dream, it will reference another dream that I had before which I find amazing. It's like seeing a well scripted movie with preshadowing!

Regarding premonitions in dreams, I had a dream of 9-11 when I was living in Boston, on the 9th of september. I saw these two burning stumps of cut-off legs with smoke rising to the skies and half a plane sticking out of one, chaos and helicopters surrounding them, people running away and dead around it. My dad is a pilot and I've had dreams of plane crashes before, so I told my husband and called my dad up (that's how I remember the date because calling home from the US used to be a big deal at the time). He was fine but I was still a bit creeped out. Then when I saw it on tv, I was quite numb. The people that I told this to before the event, were freaking out. And to think, all the famous psychics didn't get it while charging people money .

I've had premonitions and signs of other natures as well, some which are pretty common like thinking of someone and they show up or call/email, and stranger ones that I've posted about before on the forum.

I would say I have very strange experience with dreams, espcially with dead family and friends.

The first death was of my mother. Nothing significant in my dreams. They were like a reload of past events and memories, and she was always "alive" in my dreams. Then a sister "S", same thing.

The beginning was a dream of the father of my close friend. He was a conservative man, but liked me a lot and entrusted his daughter with me only. He would drop her to my place and collect her later, but would not allow anywhere else without the company of her mother. Then he died. I saw him in my dream and I knew he was dead. That was the first tme I saw a dead and knew they were dead. I asked him how he was; he ignored my question and said to me Tell my daughter everything will be fine, but the most important thing is that one..." and I woke up.

I told my friend about the message..the incomplete message, and we were trying to figure out what was the most important thing.

Years later I was married and pregnant with the third. I was abroad. As I was asleep, I saw my sister "S" climb to my bed and lie by my side. The strange thing was that I knew she was dead. She was talking as if to herself "our sister the doctor will follow us soon (us being her and my mom, as I understood). I was firghtened and believed she was talking about me (I was studying medecine then abroad). I wept and said to her why they wanted "me" there, and what about the kids..bla..bla...She did not seem to isten to me or care about my plight. I then gave up and considered it as a final decision. I then said to her OK, fine. How is it like there? She turned and faced me for the first time during this encounter, looking my in the eyes and saying Why do you fear it there? We are far better than you, the most important is that one..And I woke up, sweating and crying.

I insisted on returning back to my country to die there among my family (I believed I would die during labour, as many pregnant women would fear). A week through my vacation, my sister "A", a doctor, suddenly died.

I only dreamed of my sister "A" as alive, and had many conversations with her.

When I was telling a friend about my two incomplete conversations, she said what do you mean by incomplete message? They ARE complete "The most important is the One". (in arabic almuhim alwaa7id )

how could one see in a dream (or any other way) something that would happen in the future?

                                is the future already written?

did all this happen and we're just catching up to the moments?

Some people explain it with the past present and future are all connected and somehow the future just overlaps at that time or something. I don't know personally, and I've never tried techniques to see this stuff 'cause when I could be making up my own pretty dreams, why try to dream of true death and destruction!

I have had repeated dreams and sometimes dreams within a dream of falling to my death, my son or my daughter falling off the same terrace/balcony in some old flats we used to live in. These were the pathways that used to run between the flats themselves, not the terraces in each individual flat. They used to be so vivid and I have had them around 6-7 times I think, since I left the place. They used to scare me a lot and recently around a week back, I found out that a boy fell to his death from the same pathways and the same block.

Maybe it was because I was attached to the place that I dreamt about it a lot (many life changing experiences happened while I was living there), maybe I always thought that those pathways were dangerous and it was a matter of time that something like that would happen. Maybe both connected and gave me these dreams.

As a note though, if anyone of you are living in high rise flats/apt buildings with kids, please tell the management to put in netting if you have pathways like these (they've used netting in some I know about and it's an excellent idea). Secondly, elevators/lifts whatever they are called in your contry of residence; if you have kids, please make sure they do NOT just run in as soon as the doors open, keep a hold on their hands. A daughter of someone we know died like this, the doors opened but the platform/lift never arrived and she fell to her death. It's very important to check out the surroundings and be extra careful.

                                        Peace Be Upon You All

Sis SAvage Carrot explained it pretty succinctly. Nothing is really unseen or unknown. You just can see them thru other means if you can develop those other senses. Some call it the third eye. others call it your inner energy. still others call it intuition.

Bro Nerspi i can work with you on private message if you'd like to develop this. it just takes time but anyone and everyone has that power as well as the power to heal, which are linked to the same energy and being open to it.

There are three kinds of dreams

                                          1. Roohani (Spiritual) - This is a form of divine revelation which has not ceased. This dream is directly from Allah. Many times in these dreams one can see the Holy Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa salaam) and/or receive a revelation.

                                          2. Nafsani (Egotistical) - This is the "normal" dream, usually a reflection on one's day, etc.

                                          3. Shaytani (Satanic) - This is a dream/inspiration from Satan. These kinds of dreams will frequent the most unrighteous and wicked people.

Please can I draw your attention to a verse in the Quran that is important.

'478 Wherever you may be, death will find you, even if you are in fortified towers. If any good befalls them, they say "This is from God," and if any bad befalls them, they say "This is from you!" Say "All is from God;" what is wrong with these people, they barely understand anything said!' This is taken from The Message, translation by Progressive Muslims.

                                          All is from God.
