    Peace all.....

Wow! Another sign that the Saudi system doesn't work. Have a look at this UAE newspaper article

      Peace be upon you,

the article was not specific, i.e. it didn?t define how they were psychologically or physically abused, or even why, and it didn?t tell us how many children they asked in order to come up with the sweeping result of 45% of Saudi kids being physically / psychologically abused. I don?t find the figure particularly shocking nope, i?m sure other countries statistics are not that much better either .

        Salam.

        Saudi children?

        What about Iraqi children?
        Bosnia children?
        Chechnya children?
        China children?
        Cuba children?
        African children?

You know, kidz in the Mid-East have totally different childhood then kids in, let's say, USA or UK.

        Peace.

considering what they are being taught is "normal" i can't imagine what horrors are being committed against them that they consider "abuse"

I read in a book that most psychologists believe that 85% of people come from dysfunctional families.

Is there any one here that would wholeheartedly claim that they came from a wonderful family?

Ah, the Western hemisphere is broken in terms of the "nuclear family" and the breakdown of all family ties over time, the Eastern hemisphere is broken in terms of being supendously conservative, refusing to be educated, refusing to srtand to reason, and refusing to throw away their prehistoric rituals.

Oh,just feel like some folks think their knowledge is grounded in practical real-life experience, when its not.....Easy to criticise from an ivory tower, much harder when faced with reality... ! Book smart does not always equal real knowledge.....
When i was younger i could 'easily' criticise certain aspects of peoples parenting skills, but when you go through it yourself you begin to see if your criticism of others was valid or just based on incomplete knowledge and armchair punditry....

I don't comment on what I don't know of. I'm certainly not criticising people's parenting skills, I have many parents in my family

And I do have to handle kids, sometimes. If anything stretches your patience to the limits, it's a 2 year old kid on a sugar rush.

By thw way, are you a Saudi parent by any chance, and is your child one of the 45% that are supposedly "abused"?

Actually, I'm talking purely on the worst of both societies. Not of the majority...

I know many of the supposed statistics are myths, like the "50% divorce rate", but you cannot sincerely deny there is no problem in either societies.

By the way, I have to congratulate you on attempting to personally attack me when you started out.

                                      Now, onto your post

Correct. I was dwelling on this. Not on whether some parents I have never met or seen are good or bad at raising their children.

Either way, psychological harm will come to people, whether you shelter them and wrap them in cotton wool, or whether you force them out into the streets.

Actually, I chose specifically not to comment on that, but address it. And no, I don't think I'm "good".

And as for "bait", what you perceive as "bait" may not be so.

And finally, as for maturity, if maturity = resorting to logical fallacies, distorted meanings, erroneous questions and such, I prefer being immature in your eyes.
