    Salam everyone.

Does anyone know of a person willing to perform a God alone marriage ceremony in English only, without any traditional Islamic innovations? My brother is a God aloner getting married to an open-minded Christian girl this July and we cannot find anyone to perform the ceremony in all English. We are in the Mississauga (Toronto) area. If anyone knows anyone who is willing to do this, can you please contact me ASAP on the forum or by email.
    Thanks,
    S.

          IronSky,

          Thanks for the good wishes.

          Jankren,

Thanks for your advice. If we have to go that route we will. We will contact a Humanist to do the ceremony but we would prefer a God Aloner, quoting Quranic and/or Bible verses. It's a complicated matter, as my mother is a God Aloner too and my father and his relatives are staunch traditional Sunnis who are angry at the idea of the ceremony being in English only, as well as other issues concerning the wedding.

          Thanks again,
          HappilyNeverAfter

Can't you just do it on your own? I mean, reciting verses from holy scriptures isn't necessary. And if you're God alone (god alone is enough as a witness), you don't really need a person playing the "priest" role.

Yes, I could, but this isn't an issue of a witness. I have been telling everyone exactly what you've said for the longest time with no success and it is not my wedding so unfortunately I don't have much of a say. In any case, it's just their preference to have verses read, they know that it is not necessary. My mom said she would do it but she's not a good public speaker and no one we know will agree to do the ceremony without an ounce of Arabic or tradition. In short, yes we can do it on our own but we would prefer for a number of reasons for someone else to do it, and we know it is not necessary.

Then just do it in traditional Arabic way if it is the only path to make everyone happy. Besides having such a wedding will not anger God in any way in my opinion.
