2:230

?So if he divorces her again, then she will not be lawful for him until she has married another husband. If the other husband divorces her, then there is no sin that they come back together if they think they will uphold God?s limits. These are God?s limits, He clarifies them for a people that know.? (The Message 2230)
A man and a woman that have been married and divorced twice in the past, may not marry the third time unless the woman has been through the process of marriage and divorce with another man.
I don't see the logic behind this verse.
I personally wouldn't go in for the rebound after the first try was a fluke. Regardless, why not give it a third try if the couple thinks they can make it really work?
Why even allow them to marry the third time? Is the woman being married to another man supposed to change things?
Why isn't the same applied to men?
Any insights into this rule?
