Money as Debt video
-
Peace all,
If you are like me, and know almost nothing about money, the following video is great. I think we are intentionally not taught anything about money in the public school system.
Paul Grignon's 47-minute animated presentation of "Money as Debt" tells in very simple and effective graphic terms what money is and how it is being created.
It is highly recommended that you watch this.

peace David,
I find the whole thing quite difficult to grasp although I think I understood the basics.
I was thinking, clearly, being in the banking business is very lucrative, so I would imagine countries/governments/corporations/multinationals would be trying to get into this area?
Are banks being created? Lets say someone or a company in another sector had plenty of money, why not open a bank / buy a small one and expand? Is this happening?
Also, it seemed to imply that the perpetuating nature of the system means that it will result in an insatiable appetite for resources, thus things like global warming and destruction of the planet are almost a certainty, unless there is a complete collapse of the financial system. Did I get that right?
I appreciate you're not an expert in the field, I'm just sharing the thoughts I had whilst/after watching it.

Peace Wakas,
I find the whole thing quite difficult to grasp although I think I understood the basics.
I think that is because we are never taught anything about money, so it is all very new. I watched it twice myself to try and wrap my head around it, and some parts more than twice.
These are my thoughts regarding your first question regarding the banking business
1.)There are laws in place to limit who can/cannot open a bank. The determination is made upon certain criteria, but one would also need to be skeptical about certain interests (banks) that put pressure on governments to curtail competition. There are six major domestic banks in Canada, and trying to compete with them as a new bank would be difficult. There are seven smaller domestic banks, which account for less than 2 per cent of the total global assets held by the Canadian banking industry (as of 2001).
http//www.fin.gc.ca/toce/2001/bank_e.html
2.) Governments have essentially given up their rights to private banks, so they are not in the banking business. In fact, they are paying banks billions in interest to borrow money from them, when they could be printing it interest free themselves.
3.) In Canada, there is a law against any foreign government, or government controlled company from owning a bank and operating.
4.) Canada recently (2001) opened up its banking sector to allow foreign banks to operate in Canada without being incorporated in Canada.
5.) If a company is making money, they may feel that divesting into the banking business may not be worth it as getting clients for a new bank is always difficult. It is like trying to get someone to change their brand of laundry detergent.
Despite this, there are corporations, such as grocery stores, that within the last decade have begun to operate some form of banking. I am not too familiar with this since I have always ignored their requests to open an account. Also, it seemed to imply that the perpetuating nature of the system means that it will result in an insatiable appetite for resources, thus things like global warming and destruction of the planet are almost a certainty, unless there is a complete collapse of the financial system. Did I get that right?
That was my understanding as well.
For those who haven't watched this video yet, I'd like to provide just a few of the many memorable quotes from the video in order to peak your interest. There are in fact many more mind-numbing quotes in the video, but I don't want to spoil the impact. If you like the video, please share with others and spread the word. I truly believe this is one of the most important issues facing the world.
?The process by which banks create money is so simple that the mind is repelled.?
John Kenneth Galbraith, Economist?Permit me to issue and control the money of a nation, and I care not who makes its laws.?
Mayer Anselm Rothschild, Banker?I have never yet had anyone who could through the use of logic and reason, justify the Federal Government borrowing the use of its own money?
I believe the time will come when people will demand that this be changed.
I believe the time will come in this country when they will actually blame you and me and everyone else connected with Congress for sitting idly by and permitting such an idiotic system to continue.?

Peace to all,
It was a great video david, I have seen a few others that were similar and I agree it is very important for us to learn more about monetary theory.
Here are a few other quotes that were in the video or relevant to the secret societies that control these things
"Behold our secret If in order to destroy Christianity, all religion, we have pretended to have the sole true religion, remember that the end justifies the means, and the wise ought to take all the means to do good which the wicked take to do evil. This can be done in no other way but by secret associations, which will by degrees, and in silence, possess themselves of the government of the States, and make use of these means for this purpose which the wicked use for attaining base ends. The express aim of this order was to abolish Christianity, and overthrow all civil governments." (Adam Weishaupt, May 1st 1776.)
President Woodrow Wilson also stated before his death
"Some of the biggest men in the United States, in the field of commerce and manufacture, are afraid of somebody, are afraid of something. They know that there is a power somewhere, so organized, so subtle, so watchful, so interlocked, so pervasive, that they had better not speak above their breath when they speak in condemnation of it."

peace David, all,
Thanks for the info.
You are right, some companies are getting into financial products. For example, in the UK too, supermarkets are getting into this area. I'm not sure how it works either because if they are not a bank maybe they dont have a mandate to lend out what they dont have, i.e. create money. I dunno to be honest.
The system is so ingrained it's just so difficult to see a way out, especially for individuals. Whenever in such a situation, my advice, do what you can and let God take care of the rest.

Peace Kurt, Wakas, all,
Kurt Yes, I've seen a couple other ones, but they were more limited to the U.S. Federal Reserve system.
Thanks for the quotes.Wakas

Very good advice. I think the least I can do is spread the information, as most people just don't know how money is created. I am also a member of a political party that is advocating monetary reform.
