Peace Darnell,
Welcome to the forum welcome
3918 The ones who listen to what is being said, and then follow the best of it. These are the ones whom God has guided, and these are the ones who possess intelligence.
3955 And follow the best of what has been sent down to you from your Lord, before the retribution comes to you suddenly when you least expect it.
Praise be to The God who has protected and preserved His message Himself so it cannot be corrupted (159, 4142). Read and study the Qur'aan with an open mind and put your trust in The God and let Him explain His signs and guide you and all the confusion will disappear !
The Qur'aan is fully detailed (6114, 12111, 1712), contains every example (1789, 3927) and clear explanation of everything (1689) relevant to our guidance to the straight path and is enough for our guidance (2951) and the Prophet followed only the Qur'aan (1015, 4105).
Consider the context of verses/signs in the Qur'aan and cross reference with other verses/signs on the same topic. Find out how the Qur'aan itself defines a word used in it by researching all the occurrences of that word and its context. Verify everything using your God given faculties before following and upholding it (1736).
Some people spend years learning a foreign language just so that they can have a better chance at earning their livelihoods but they can't find any time to learn the language of The God's revelations. Try to learn the Classical Arabic language so you can have a better understanding of The God's words yourself instead of following someone else's translation which could be tainted and biased by their preconceptions, personal desires and reliance on conjectures and unverifiable hearsays (6116, 532.
The correct approach would be to study the Qur'aanic context of the revelations + determine the meaning of a word in al-qur'aan according to how al-qur'aan defines its meaning + study all occurrences of the same words or themes in al-qur'aan + learn Classical Arabic language + use reputable Classical Arabic dictionaries (more than one) + compare at least 10 different translations + use our mind, reason, and knowledge + discuss with people of knowledge + follow the best meaning.

Put your trust in The God (6413) and let Him explain His signs (7516-19). Do not be hasty with The God's revelations (20114). Study The God's words and His signs in the horizons and within yourself and the truth will become clear (4153). Only The God can guide us to the straight path and He is enough for His servant (3936).
The following article based on verses of the Qur'aan is concentrated reading but I have found it very helpful to dispel the various misconceptions about the Qur'aan

See the following link for suggested websites, reading list, and tools to help study the Qur'aan

May The God guide us to the straight path and the truth and remove all our confusions.

Peace Be Upon You Bro Darnell

Enjoy the journey sun

Peace Darnell and welcome.
Check out the main site - www.free-minds.org, there should be some articles of interest. There's lots of discussions on the forum also. But don't be afraid to ask, even if it's a new b question. Just be aware that you might get a whole bunch of even more confusing answers. So the best route, as others have advised, is to read for yourself and ask God for guidance.

Hello everyone and salaam.
I have been thinking about re-verting to Islam but am a little confused and
hope I can learn more from this site. If anyone has any suggestions I would love
to hear them.
Peace,
Darnell  Salam.
I suggest you check out these sites and then ask all the questions you will have and you will.

http//www.quran-islam.org/
But remember The Quran don't just trust anyone and everyone! Always check everything people tell you, don't just blindly follow everything you run into.
Good luck and welcome to the forum.
Peace.
