    Salam.

What is a horoscope - truth or a lie?
I mean, i need proof on this.
Why do people write this stuff? Why do people believe in it? Does it have any impact on us? Does it have any impact on our future? Does it have any effect on our destiny?

If the horoscope says i will have lots of money in September, does that mean i should bet on horses, go to Las Vegas and steal, knowing i will earn lots of cash?

    What's the deal here?

    Peace.

Horoscopes are predictions based on astrology. Though all the times I've looked one up for me, they have always been sysnonyms of succesful, rich and/or intelligent. So there more of complete bull**** than a real lie in my mind. Its kind of like shooting a machine gun blindly at a practice target from 1 kilometer away, its pure chance your gonna hit it.

        Peace Alen,

Horoscope, illustration of the position of the sun, moon, and planets from a given latitude and longitude on earth at a given moment, usually that of birth. The construction of the horoscope is based on the Ptolemaic system, in which the earth is stationary and the heavenly bodies move around it in fixed patterns. Astrologers have divided the heavens into 12 sections, each thought to be ruled by a different sign of the zodiac belt through which the sun, moon, and planets move in 12 fixed positions called houses. Once the particular sign and houses have been established, the mythological characteristics of the heavenly bodies, modified by the geometrical relationship between them, are used to foretell events in the life of the individual for whom the horoscope has been drawn.

        truth or a lie?

According to my understanding, ?ABSOLUTELY RUBBISH?.
There are approximately 6.5 billion people in the world today, divided into 12 groups/sections that would be approximately 500 million people in every section....so for example I am a "SCORPIO" and the weekly horoscope says that there will be Good news for you this week, firstly it will be my own interpretation to relate any good event that week with the prediction of my horoscope, secondly out of 500 MILLION SCORPIONS even if 1% receive any good news during that week there will be 5 MILLION people who will say it's true.

twins are the best example to quote, they are born within minute of each other when the heavenly bodies are more or less in the same position....but even though they may share a lot of similarities , when it comes to fortune there is a hell of a difference.....my mom had a twin sister, my mom was blessed with all the good things in life but my aunt spend all her life struggling to make the ends meet and with out support from her family it would have been impossible for her to raise her four children.

These heavenly bodies can affect our mood or cause negative or positive effects on our bodies but there is no way they can provide jobs and financial benefits to us.

None of the astrologers predicted THE TSUNAMI and THE EARTHQUAKE that killed hundreds of thousand of people a couple of years back.......none of them predicted 9/11.

In my opinion it?s all rubbish else all countries would have had a MINISTRY OF ASTROLOGERS to predict future events so that they may prepare themselves in advance.

Why do people write this stuff?

        They get paid for this.

Why do people believe in it?

        Hope?

Does it have any impact on us?

        Only Psychological.

Does it have any impact on our future?

        No.

Does it have any effect on our destiny?

        No.

        peace

          Peace,

Horoscope is for your own to decide if you want to believe in it or not as everything else like believe in God, not all people do believe in God.

Honestly I have always believed in horoscope but of course not those in magazines. I use to order my personal horoscopes for the seasons and I have also order my natal chart etc.

Even those horoscopes based on your birth time are just indications of what kind of mood you can expect during that day or period. You create your own life but horoscope can help you to predict what is the best time to sign a contract for example.

We are part of Universe and all planets are effect us in different ways but many people don't want to admit that.

By the way I'm a saggitarius with venus and mars in scorpio so I'm kind of flirting and dangerous woman LOL.

          Peace
          Maria

lol sis maria, we realized that...

i partially share your view on astrology. when you get into the personal calculation there's lots of interesting coincidences (?), but well, it for sure shouldn't guide your life. even though i do believe in the influence of the universe around us, that doesn't mean that we humans are able to read it right

            peace lk

              Faulty reasoning.

Imagine every single month I write something like "You will meet the love of your life". This goes out to 10 million people. A lot of people WILL meet the love of their lives, and a portion of those will believe the horoscope. But did the horoscope have any bearing on that? No way. Now imagine switching the phrases a few times, the probability that someone will match is still reasonably high.

Don't get suckered in by soothsayers.

I don't see a reason why what we label as "zodiac signs" be a way God uses to give us our personalities. It has nothing to do with worshiping the stars. Of course, it leads to people worshipping the stars or planets but it doesn't have to.

Simply put, it's another force, like gravity. Another malaikah.

PS I'm talking about zodiac signs here.

Dear lord, do people ever understand? THE POSITION OF THE EARTH RELATIVE TO THE STARS HAS VERY LITTLE, IF ANY CONNECTION TO YOUR PERSONALITY.

Horoscopes are not observable, gravity is. sigh

                    Peoples' personalities are observable too.

                      Relative to the stars? No.

Relative to the weather, just 5-20km up? Definitely. Relative to the tide, a few light seconds away? Possibly. Relative to the lunar cycle? Possibly. Relative to the position of stars varying by a zillionth of a degree, millions of light years away? No. Way. In. Hell.

                        Peace,

I said I didn't trust those horoscopes in magazines that says " You will find the love of your life today".

I find more intrests in my own personal horoscope and it's like my fingerprints because no one is born exactly when I was born. I was born in Sweden 1972-12-07 340 PM.

                            Peace sis Maria,

Sagittarius (astrology), the ninth sign of the zodiac, symbolized by an archer. Astrologers consider people whose birthdays occur from November 22 to December 21 to be born under the sun sign of Sagittarius. Sagittarius, a fire sign, is ruled by the planet Jupiter, named after the wise ruler of the ancient Roman gods.

Astrologers believe that Sagittarians have fun-loving, friendly, philosophical, intellectual, straightforward, and expansive natures. Sagittarians are optimistic, and sometimes have a naive belief that everything will turn out fine despite any obstacles. Good luck often follows typical Sagittarians, and because whatever they need usually comes effortlessly to them, they tend to be generous and willing to share. Sagittarians also value frankness and honesty, and their comments can sometimes be blunt.

According to astrologers, typical Sagittarians dislike being confined or tied down; they seek change, especially through travel. Sagittarians require freedom of thought and ideas, but they otherwise tend to be fairly conventional and respect tradition. Professions traditionally associated with Sagittarius include higher education; law; medicine; importing and exporting, or other activities that involve foreign countries; and publishing.
