    Peace,

    Peace all,

3923 God has sent down the best HADEETH (ahsana alhadeethi), a Scripture that is similar with two paths. The skins of those who reverence their Lord shiver from it, then their skins and their hearts soften up to the remembrance of God. Such is God's guidance; He guides with it whoever He wills. And for whomever God misguides, then none can guide him.

What does everyone make of this? Is it saying what I think it's saying?

I will respond to the part of the verse that is bold since that seems to be what is in question.
Similar means the Quran is consistant and the two paths are heaven and hell.

It seems that it could point towards two different forms of Islam? Or rather, two different meanings?

Dotty, I don't quite follow that because following the Quran is supposed to lead ONLY to heaven, or no?

True, what you said. I was thinking more along the lines of the choice we have. To follow the Quran or not, hence... heaven or hell.

The wording implies it is completely inside the Quran, so it cannot be following it or not following it (1745-46 - also read that).

In simple terms, the verse just states God has sent down a narration that has two/many paths", not "God has sent down a narration that has two/many paths depending on whether someone follows it or not".

                  peace ,

                  would be great, this something i always thought, but never realized it would be that clearly stated in quran;

but why you say two/multiple ? What's the Arabic terming ? Anybody ?

                    example of a 'second path'

the extremists who twist the quran and its meanings

i've felt that the quran can be your best friend (if your heart is pure) and your worst friend (if your heart is diseased)

28 And from the people are those who say "We believe in God and in the Last Day," but they are not believers.
29 They seek to deceive God and those who believe, but they only deceive themselves without noticing.
210 In their hearts is a disease, so God increases their disease, and they will have a painful retribution for what they have denied.

                      QXP

3923 God has now revealed the best HADITH, a Book fully consistent within
itself. It marks out both ways (to success and failure) repeating its Messages
in diverse forms. Herewith shiver the skins of those who have some idea of
the Glory of their Lord, and then, their skins and their hearts soften at God's
Reminder. This is the Guidance of God, and with it He guides one who seeks
Guidance. Whereas one who follows a path that God has declared to be
wrong, goes astray and he cannot find a guide. (488, 1587)

                        check out this verse too

2253 That He may make what the devil has cast as a tests for those who have a disease in their hearts and those whose hearts are hardened. And the wicked are far away in opposition

                        also check out chapter 90

901 I swear by this land.
902 And you remain committed to this land.
903 And a father and what he begets.
904 We have created man to struggle.
905 Does he think that no one is able to best him?
906 He says "I spent so much money!"
907 Does he think that no one saw him?
908 Did We not make for him two eyes?
909 And a tongue and two lips?
9010 And We guided him to both paths?
9011 He should choose the better path.
9012 Do you know which is the better path?
                        9013 The freeing of slaves.
9014 Or the feeding on a day of great hardship.
                        9015 An orphan of relation.
9016 Or a poor person in need.
9017 Then he has become one of those who have believed, and exhort one another to patience, and exhort one another to kindness.
9018 Those are the people of happiness.
9019 As for those who rejected Our revelations, they are the people of misery.
9020 Upon them is a Fire closed over.

But in the Quran it points out the path for us to reach God and also the path that will lead us to hell... so it is still within the Quran.

                            Officially confuzzled

                            I think you're correct, Dotty/Arnold/DArgento.

Pickthal also interprets it this way

Allah hath (now) revealed the fairest of statements, a Scripture consistent, (wherein promises of reward are) paired (with threats of punishment), whereat doth creep the flesh of those who fear their Lord, so that their flesh and their hearts soften to Allah's reminder. Such is Allah's guidance, wherewith He guideth whom He will. And him whom Allah sendeth astray, for him there is no guide.
