    Salam.

I just spoke to a sheikh.
I told him how i perform the ablution and he said it is wrong.
I asked why do they think that prophet Muhammad would add a new steps to the ablution and the guy said, well, washing of the nose, mouth is necessary because they are parts of the nose.

    What do you think?
    What is a face?

If i wash the inside of my nose and mouth, does that mean that i am washing my face or parts of my face?

    Thanks for the comments.

    Peace.

Thanks, brother, because the sheikh and the other frind of his told me that i am not a Muslim and even swore by The God. We were sitting in the masjid.

        Peace.

I dont know what ablution is, im guessing it has to do with washing your face, so I just take a wet cloth and scrub my face. Is that good enough?

I'm curious as to where God granted them that authority. Can you ask them for me please? Where can I apply for my Takfir licence?

I used to do the wash nose and mouth and face too (in general) when i was a full-time sunni. Now i see that the nose and mouth are not specified within the Quran but just simply 'face', i leave those two out. Here are a few definitions of 'face' from dictionary.com

the front part of the head, from the forehead to the chin
the geographic characteristics or general appearance of a land surface
the surface the face of the earth
the outer or upper side of a fabric; right side.

Face is always the surface. If someone asked you to wash the face of the Ka'bah (just an example), would you wipe inside?

                  Peace all,

In 56 we hear about washing your face (wujoohakum) before salaat, and if water is not available then to wipe your face (wujoohakum) with clean soil. The washing with water and wiping with clean soil is both for "wujoohakum"/your face, so if washing the face includes the internal nose and mouth then wiping the face with soil would include wiping the internal nose and the mouth with soil too, and putting soil in the nose and mouth.

It is obvious that in "tayammam" in the absence of water, wiping the face with clean soil does not include wiping the internal nose and mouth with soil and putting soil in the mouth, so logically speaking, washing the face would not include washing the internal nose and the mouth.

                    The Water Scenario

O ye who believe! when ye prepare for prayer,
                    1-wash your faces,
2-and your hands to the elbows
                    3-Rub your heads
4-and your feet to the ankles.

If ye are in a state of ceremonial impurity, clean yourselves

                    The No Water Scenario

                    And if ye are

                    1-ill,
                    2-or on a journey,
3-or one of you cometh from offices of nature,
4-or ye have been in contact with women,

and ye find no water, then take for yourselves clean sand or earth, and rub therewith your

                    1-faces
                    2-and hands,

Allah doth not wish to place you in a difficulty, but to make you clean, and to complete his favor to you, that ye may be grateful.56

i think water in arabia was hard to find , and therefore it was permitted by god to use sand when there is no water .
after all its to make you clean.

you can take a shower if its possible but the face, hands, head and legs are essential as a minimum requirement.
                    peace

they, like those who narrated those hadiths dont understand flushing the nose and the mouth is something good and it can be done whenever, got the chance while making ablution? do it then, some bugers? get them out quick, but what happen was that they saw muhammad and made it "sunnah", how annoying!

                        peace be with you

                          Brother how are you?

That is one good logical explanation, can you explain this no water scenario,

If ye are in a state of ceremonial impurity, clean yourselves

In above cases, if one does not find water , he can carry out dry ablution, my question is , why only in above cases? why not always, when one does not find water. This second part of the verse is a bit confusing.

                            Salam,

Siki Of course it goes for other times to when you cannot find water, sand is always clean.

Worth to notice though is that you rub your face and arms with the sand but with water you wash and you wipe.

You wash your face with water but you wipe your arms and feet with water, so in my opinion you don't have to soak or dip your arms and feet in water as I see many sectarians doing.

And if you feel that your feet is dirty before having ablution no one prevent you from rub your feet with soap and water and then have your ablution.

                            Maria

In those days, in those times and in those specific circumstances and locations, water was scarce and people traveled distances to collect it, hence the recommendation. Today it is unlikely that people will wash their body parts in dirt/mud/sand. Ablution and salaat (physical prayers) were/are both dogmatic pagan rituals performed during idolworshipping where one must face towards Kaba in which "The God" resided. If understood otherwise, as professed by few here, then neither ablution nor salaat was meant to emphasize ritualistic physical pagan idolworshipping duties as witnessed today.

                                  Salaam bro Sikandar, all,

                                  Brother how are you?

Alhamdulillah, I am well. Just going through some worldly difficulties but insha Allah they will be resolved soon.

                                  How are you doing ?

In above cases, if one does not find water , he can carry out dry ablution, my question is , why only in above cases? why not always, when one does not find water. This second part of the verse is a bit confusing.

According to 56, in my understanding

                                  1. If one can find water then ablution is to be performed in all situations before salaat except after intercourse when one has to take a bath.

                                  2. If one cannot find water then no ablution or wiping with soil necessary before salaat except in the following cases ill, or traveling, or after call of nature, or after sexual contact.

                                    Peace Maria,

Worth to notice though is that you rub your face and arms with the sand but with water you wash and you wipe.

Sis Maria, it is face and hands according to 56 (with soil).

When are the eyes washed in the ablutions of the sectarians? Because you can also put your eyes into the water to wash them. If interior of nose is part of face, then eyes are too.

                                        Salaam bro Sikandar, all,

Alhamdulillah, I am well. Just going through some worldly difficulties but insha Allah they will be resolved soon.

                                        How are you doing ?

According to 56, in my understanding

                                        1. If one can find water then ablution is to be performed in all situations before salaat except after intercourse when one has to take a bath.

                                        2. If one cannot find water then no ablution or wiping with soil necessary before salaat except in the following cases ill, or traveling, or after call of nature, or after sexual contact.

                                        Tanveer !

pr May God help you in solving the worldly problems,

Now coming to the ablution, i some how had the feelings that you will be able to better the traditionalist understanding. bravo I was kinda thinking on the same line but was not really sure. lets just wait for some more inputs, and if no major rebuttals, then you/we can refine/finalise your understanding.

                                        siki

I just spoke to a sheikh.
I told him how i perform the ablution and he said it is wrong.
I asked why do they think that prophet Muhammad would add a new steps to the ablution and the guy said, well, washing of the nose, mouth is necessary because they are parts of the nose.

                                          What do you think?
                                          What is a face?

If i wash the inside of my nose and mouth, does that mean that i am washing my face or parts of my face?

                                          Thanks for the comments.

                                          Peace.

IMHO it not a big issue...
The sheikh can do ablution the ways he wanted it, and you also can do the same...

                                          Salam
