My Dream of Truth
-
I was raised Catholic, and I dabbled in just about every religion in an attempt to find what was right. I ended up settling on Mormonism. I felt wonderful, but I still felt like something wasn't quite right. I stopped going to church, and I haven't been for over a year. About a week ago, I had an interesting dream that has lead me to the truth.
In my dream, I walked into a room that had the biggest and oldest book I had ever seen, a bunch of eternal children (i.e. cherubs), and a woman. She told me that the truth I was seeking, I could find in the book. She explained that she was sent to guide me. I asked her flat out if Jesus was the son of god and the eternal children all began to giggle. I got very confused and so did the woman. She told me that Jesus was merely a prophet and asked me where I would have gotten such an idea. I walked to the book and opened it. It was written in a language w/symbols that I had never seen before. I looked at the woman and told her I couldn't read it. She said, "Look harder, everyone has the ability to read it, you just need to have the will." I looked inside myself for the truth, and sure enough, I could read it. It was a list of names. The first of which was not Adam, it was Adama sp? (which my husband told me means humanity). I don't know any Arabic at all. All the names in the early part of the book were the Arabic forms of the biblical and Quaranic names. The names were all set up in a family tree type of pattern, and every name had 2 numbers beside them, one of which was in red. I asked the woman about the numbers, and she said that each individual's good deeds were in black and the bad deeds were in red. There was also scripture at the very beginning of the book that was similar to the quaran, but not identical. The verses I read in the book were not ones that I had not yet read. My husband looked up the subject matter and one verse he read to me was the same as what I had read in my dream.
After all this, I am hard pressed to not believe in a singular god, as well as the quaran.

Peace to you BT,
That is one of the most interesting stories I have heard of how God has guided to the truth...We are so caught up in the world of logic and science that we sometimes forget that the Almighty still reaches out to people through
inspirationand gives the answers from within.Welcome to the path of God alone.
-
Thank you. It is true, God still speaks to us through dreams, we only need to listen.
-
Peace to all,
Absolutely amazing story Babythespy, I wish my story was like yours but its not, I actually had to search and struggle a very long and hard time until I found God alone, now I thank God everyday for guiding me to him in Islam.
But we do have something in common, I was born and raised roman catholic for 35 years until I became "Muslim"
Hope to hear more from you and may your stay here be a good one.

peace and welcome Babythespy,
just one thing...god doesn't speak to us through dreams. Our dreams show us what is in our subconscious (or soul). What you saw in your dream came from inside you, not from anywhere else. The dream showed you what you already believed.
And we must be careful about what we believe in, I don't think believing in the quran just because of a dream is such a good idea. I mean, Abraham thought god wanted him to kill his son.
So yeah, read the quran, study it, then decide whether you believe it or not. -

Peace to all,
LObster, how do youy know all there is to know about dreams, where did you get this knowledge,, I seem to remember a verse in the Quran about Joseph being able to interpret dreams because gave him the power to. How did he know that these dreams of the Pharoah would speak of future events which came to pass, was he just guessing and got lucky. Or maybe God does speak to us in dreams also, among other ways he communicates his signs, are not all things possible for God.

The thing is, we don't know all about dreams and we don't know all about our mind and our subconcious. Maybe we already know the future, and that come up in our dreams sometimes? I don't know.
What I do know is this, it's really dangerous to think that God is talking to us through our dreams or through other "miraculous" events. Bin Laden probably dreams that god's telling him to go rape his cousin and then blow up some kafirs. -
BabyThespy,
Thats a pretty cool dream, you'll probably read in the future that a good amount of our members come from non-muslim back rounds (Me-Mormon, Ironsky-Catholic, DArgento-Mormon?) and that it is a very diverse group here with many diffiring beliefs. Actually about the only thing everyone has in common here is monotheism. So you should fit right in here.
After all this, I am hard pressed to not believe in a singular god, as well as the quaran.
Im not sure what this means, could you explain a little more?

Basically, after having the dream, and finding too much logic in the quaran, I feel like anything else could only be false.
DArgento-Mormon?
No, he was raised Muslim and is now a believer of one god. He is my husband. He probably mentioned Mormonism before because of me.

Thanks, I just remembered that he told me his wife was mormon.

So yeah, read the quran, study it, then decide whether you believe it or not.I understand that most people claim that dreams are just our subconscious making sense of our confusions. In most instances, I would agree. However, in this case, I know that it was not my subconscious b/c I didn't believe in the quran, in fact, I refused to even read it. Also, I have NEVER known a single word of Arabic. But somehow, in my dream, I not only could read it, but I could understand it and I knew who the english counterparts of the Arabic names were. I also could read and understand the scriptures in the book which I assume to be in Arabic. How could it possibly have been my subconscious telling me what I already knew and believed, when I DIDN'T?!
And BTW I did not choose to believe the quran purely b/c of the dream. The dream is what encouraged me to start reading it, yes. But the real reason I believe in the quran is b/c of the massive amounts of undeniable logic, in my opinion.

peace Babythespy,
Alright. The thing is that we don't know all about dreams or our subconcious. We can't really explain what happened in your dream.
You mentioned your husband...does he follow the quran? It maybe that subconsciously you picked up the arabic and the belief.
It's quite interesting. The point I was trying to make was that believing something because we saw it in a dream isn't a very good idea, and I'm glad you aren't following the quran because of it, and also that you took your dream seriously and are now interested in the quran instead of ignoring it.
oh, and I forgot to answer this
LObster, how do youy know all there is to know about dreams, where did you get this knowledge
I'll just say this
When we are relaxed (like when we get hypnotized), we access our subconscious. In a meditative state, we are kind of in the middle so we can control things (we can put things in, change stuff), but when we go even deeper into relaxation and fall asleep, we have no control, so we can just watch it happening. -
You mentioned your husband...does he follow the quran? It maybe that subconsciously you picked up the arabic and the belief.
It's quite interesting.Yes, my husband does follow the quran. However, he never reads it in arabic as he only knows a few words, therefore, he would not be able to understand it in Arabic. He has never taught me, or even spoken any arabic to me. Thus proving that my subconscious could not have manufactured at least the Arabic part of the dream.

I'll also add a few other things she told me right after the dream happened that she doesn't remember now.
She woke me up right after she had the dream and said "Now I know Jesus was just a prophet" And i raised my eyebrows in amazement.-The lady who was basically a guide in the dream......... Samantha asked her things like 'whats the meaning of life etc...'
The lady responded by saying 'I cannot tell you that, you have to figure that out on your own'
-After the dream she told me that they were some weird names she didn't recognize (except muhammad) so i started asking her if it was musa, isa, she said yes. Again she doesn't know what those words mean but she recognized them from the dream. And some of the others she didn't recognize, like luqmaan, lot etc..
-The book in the dream basically had a family tree of everybody from the beginning to the end. A book of record, maybe 'the record' quran speaks of? and/or the numerically structured books spoken of
-In the dream she specifically remembered that Jesus was married to mary magdelane (this is her subsconscious because she firmly believes this based on archaelogical evidence, logic etc...)and he did have children though she couldn't remember their names
-The lady in the dream the way she described to me (not phsically) seemed like an angel/controller/controlling force whatever you wanna call them.

so Babythespy and DArgento are married?
Yes we are.
