oh, and the reason dreams don't agree with your views is simply that you don't believe them.

    thoughts are different than beliefs.

I can THINK all the time that I need to start going to the gym and lose weight, but unless I put energy behind it and make it into a belief, I will not act upon it.

I can think that I am great at javelin throwing, but that doesn't make it so. I would have to believe it without any hint of a doubt.

Beliefs are a part of you, of your soul/subcons.
    thoughts are just thoughts.

The dreams show you what you believe.

At night when the angel angel angel controllers disable elektro us/capture our souls, or in other words,

"once we fall asleep , our souls are connected/lifted/hooked/attached/routed to the main frame in another dimension via an Un discovered link ,and while brain is downloading all the data for record and analysis, some authorized future info, in an encrypted form, may be uploaded voodoo voodoo to the brain in shape of Dreams. (not all dreams are info, most of them could be just screen savers)

6-60 He is the One who puts you to death during the night, and He knows what you have done during the day he resurrects you every morning, until your life span is fulfilled, then to Him is your ultimate return, he will then inform you of everything you had done.

      Lobster!

Brother ! Trust me, handshake and change your opinion regarding dreams, i assure you , inshallah you will benifit from them

12-7 In Joseph and his brothers there are lessons for the seekers.

12-111. In their stories is a lesson for the people of intelligence. It was not a narration that was invented, but an authentication of what is already present and a detailing of all things, and a guidance and mercy to a people who believe.

12-21 The one who bought him in Egypt said to his wife, "Take good care of him. Maybe he can help us, or maybe we can adopt him." We thus established Joseph on earth, and we taught him the interpretation of dreams. GOD's command is always done, but most people do not know

take a look at 660...what is it saying? I think it supports my position.

My understanding is based completely on scientific information and first hand experience. I may still be wrong, but I haven't seen a convincing alternative from you.

See, I can't believe what you just said, because you have no proof. The link you say is "undiscovered," but it may very well be non-existent because you don't know that it exists.
        You are making it up.

the quran likens sleep to death...we are able to see ourselves...what we've done...
when we die, our heart stops...in sleep, it almost stops, it slows down a lot.
someone here said that when we die, all that we will experience is our dreams. Our dreams are the record of our life. So if we have nightmares all the time, that's what we'll experience...so we have to change what is inside us.

The point of all this is that our outer form is the result of our inner form, if we can change what is inside us, we can change our situation (like the quran says).

Please read my last post again and just point out specific things I'm wrong about.

          Peace to all,

Again Lobster, your position has no support either, you quote someone as saying when we die all we will experience is our dreams, and if we have nightmares alot then thats what we will have when we die, i completely disagree. I know some people who are very good and kind people, and who believe in God deeply, but have very disturbing dreams all the time, are you telling me that this person will experience hell for eternity because that is what he experiences on earht via dreams,, doesnt God promise a reward of eternal peace for a person like this who does good and believes.

Also there are many experiences that go way beyond dreams and are way more real, why wont this be the state you say we will experience for eternity, so were just going to dream for eternity and not see and feel things beyond a common dream , even though others already do while on earth.

I have a brother who has had night terrors his entire life, but he is one of the kindest people you would ever meet, he now experiences things way beyond even night terrors, he is scared to death of what he is experienceing and doesnt know what or why he is. He has been to some medical and mental doctors but they dont really know what it is. The closest thing they could relate it too was lucid dreams but he swears its way beyond even this. About two times a year he feels like he awakes in another dimension or something, and he is actually physically there, he can relate in great detail information that is being given to him from some entity in this dimension and he is told it is both a good and bad power so be careful with it. The information is about some type of neuro kinetic regeneration or something like that, and he can draw detailed diagrams and explain it with terms never heard of before, he has never even taken a college class before or read a single book on this subject, when he tried to relate some of this to a doctor they were amazed, they understand the concept he is talking about and say it makes sense but they have never heard of the idea or terms he uses.

So anyways, what is this, and why is he experiencing it, he has normal dreams all the time, he even has the dreams we all have once in awhile where we say, wow this dream was like i was really there, but these things he experiences he swears are nothing like anything any of those dreams and there not even dreams, so why cant this dimension be what we will all experience for eternity, why just a common boring dream.

          Kurt

            peace Kurt, )

About the 'we will experience are dreams for eternity' idea...I was just pointing out someone else idea, it's interesting, and I thought it was worth considering. I don't believe that because obviously there's no way we can verify it.
But look at what the quran says. Sleep = death (sort of). What we experience during our sleep could be what we experience after death, right? What else could the quran be saying?
and this was just a small irrelevant part of what I said.

The problem with trying to understand all of this is that we just don't know enough about our selves.
I mean, there are a lot of weird things that people end up doing that don't seem at all possible, like the blind kid who "sees" with clicking noises he makes. And I know people can gain knowledge they didn't have before from their dreams, or even see the future.

What's happening with your brother is quite interesting (and scary). Is he a unique case or have other people experienced something like this before? I would love to know more about it if you don't mind.

But whatever your brother is experiencing in his sleep is coming from "inside" him, unless he actually sleep walks into another dimension.

Well, I would call everything we experience during sleep a "dream."
I know that I have a few different types of dreams, some are really long and some are really vivid, sometimes I don't remember anything, and others I remember for years, and then there are the creepy dreams that repeat themselves.
Maybe what your brother's going through is an extremely vivid, realistic dream.
And I would like to know more about what your brother saw.
Isn't it possible that he's making it up? You know, like kids make up all these weird entities and these languages and places, maybe that's what's going on? I dunno.

The fact, though, is that our dreams are coming from our self, not from anywhere else. Though I have no idea what our "self" contains or can contain.

I think it's a metaphorical likeness of death to sleep. Maybe the state of sleep is similar to death (don't know how, since I haven't died) but there are some commonalities between them - a) near complete lack of perception of the outside world and b) time lapsing - several hours of sleep feel like a few minutes (1819).

"The fact, though, is that our dreams are coming from our self, not from anywhere else. Though I have no idea what our "self" contains or can contain."

Proof? It could be that each time you dream it's like rolling a million sided dice and the 1 in a million dice roll will predict a future event, hence very few people experiencing "out of world" dreams, but to have them recurring in succession, just makes it seem a little strange, against the odds, should I say.

Also when i dream, and when something bad happens like i get hurt or something, i can feel something on the part i got hurt, but not the real pain it should inflict, just a little thing.

And sometimes, when i dream and am about to fell out of the bed, i feel i'm doing it in the dream, then im next to fall but i wake up either just before or when i'm on the floor. haha

When we sleep, motor neurons get blocked, preventing us from acting out our dreams, and this is scientifically proved.

) ) Other day when i came back tired after playing tennis. I hit the bed, dozed off , and started to drift into a dream. I was kinda half awake half dreaming and saw my self playing tennis, and then i hit a big forehand; "And next, i was fully awake with my wife staring strangely at me ??? She said, "you have hit me with a full blow of your right hand ; what is wrong with you? >

;D I immediately realised what had happened. I was probably at a point where i was just drifting into sleep and dreaming, but my motor neurons were probably yet in the process of blocking out my actions when this happened , and i let go that big Agassi kinda forehand.

caution; tempt you may not use this excuse to Darraba your wife. >

I don't know if there is actual scientific proof of what I'm saying. Scientist have observed that the pre-frontal cortex (the part that inhibits our 'instinctual' responses and makes sure we don't make a fool out of ourselves) has very little function during sleep and dreaming. So the conscious part of our mind is gone, leaving behind the subconscious, which is exactly what happens during hypnotism, people lose their inhibitions and do crazy stuff.
I was doing some research (if you can call it that)...trying to make sense out of brain wave patterns. I thought that the brain waves during relaxation and meditation would be close to that of REM sleep when we are dreaming, but I was wrong. During dreams, we're wide awake, except we're asleep. BUT, I read on wikipedia that studies done on long time buddhist meditators showed that their brains were in the gamma state during meditation, and gamma is I think a more advanced form of beta waves (awake state).
Doing the whole brain wave matching thing kind of confused me and I'm still trying to make sense of it all. I think I could prove my position using these brain wave scans. the only problem is, this stuff is probably more complicated than i think, and I can't actually use it unless I know everything there is to know about it.

But again, it is a fact that our brains aren't actually walking out into space.
And the quran says we go to god when we sleep, and where is god? closer to us than our jugular. Our "self" is projecting these dreams, the question is, what the hell is the "self?"
