So, here is a little back story. I work in a day care center in the toddler room. There is a little girl in that room named Jordyn who has eczema all over her body and her parents do nothing about it. We are always the ones who have to put the lotion on her b/c her parents are to lazy to do it. We always get it to start looking better by Friday, however, when she comes back on Mondays, her skin is like sand paper. So, this can lead to the assumption that the parents are not very good at caring for their child.

Well, today, I ended up being the most infuriated that I have ever been at a parent. The mother brought Jordyn in to school today with severe pink eye, to the point that her eye was nearly swollen shut. She seemed to be feeling decent toward the beginning of the day, but once we hit lunch time, she went from eating well to being extremely lethargic and refused to eat or drink any more. The director came in to give her the eye drops before nap (mind you, these eye drops were left over from a year ago and the mother refuses to take her to the doctor to get treatment). After giving her the drops, Jean (the director) said that she felt warm, so she took her out of the room to take her temperature. It was 101.5. Jean called her mom and told her that she needed to come pick her up. The mother said she would be there as soon as possible. This was 1130 AM. I put her down for nap, and while she was asleep, she kept on whimpering and moaning. Around 200, she woke up crying, so I picked her up and sat with her in my lap until it was time for me to go home at 245. That means that it had been 3 hours and 15 minutes since her mother was called. As I was leaving, I asked one of my co-workers (who happens to be a friend of Jordyn's parents) to call her mom and find out where she was. When she called, she found out that she was still out shopping in a town that is approximately 1 1/2 hours away. My co-worker started yelling at her telling her to come pick up her daughter and take her to the doctor. I hope that the mother came after getting yelled at by a friend. I will find out tomorrow.

Sorry for the long rant, but I figured this would be a good place to let out my frustration with idiotic parents.

Believe me, I would love to. She is such a sweet and loving girl.

        Here is an update
Her mother didn't pick her up until 600 that day. She was not brought in on Tuesday, but they brought her in on Wednesday after giving her Motrin. Her fever spiked and my boss called her mom and dad again and was unable to get a hold of them. The girl's grandfather picked her up at around 630 and was infuriated with his daughter for bringing her to school when she was in that kind of condition. Evidently, the reason we couldn't reach her mother is b/c she was ASLEEP! Thats it. Nothing more than she didn't feel like answering the phone b/c she wanted to sleep. My boss told the mother not to bring her back w/o a doctor's note, and the grandfather said that he was probably going to take the little girl to the hospital b/c of how bad she was. After all she has had a fever over 101 for 3 days. She was not at school today. I am going to find out how she is doing tomorrow.

I'm a homeopath and as such, we look at the body/mind connection. I thought you'd be interested in this case to know.....

Eczema --> Breathtaking antagonism. Mental eruptions. There is not harmony and peace, or love and joy surrounding her or indwelling in her. she feels unsafe and insecure.

Conjunctivitis (pinkeye) --> Anger and rustration at what she is looking at in life. She is unable to see with eyes of love. She feels that there is no harmonious solution that she can accept.

Just my two bits on the situation.......

That's pretty unbelievable. Does your day care have any rules and such regarding what parents must do? After this incident, maybe there should be some particularly for this type of stuff because if something happens while kids are in the daycare it might be really bad. This reminds me of that awful trainspotting incident, I could never watch that movie again because of it. Is the mother on some medication or something? Where's the father during all this? I hope someone has a good talk with her because this is quite irresponsible. Also, what's the normal time for the kids to be picked up?

My boss does hold to what she says. The mother is just lazy, not on meds. The father works all the time. I would love to say something to her mom, but I never get the chance to see her. But my co-worker that is friends with her has had a "talk" with her (aka yelled at her).

Wow! That is very interesting. It makes a lot of sense.

                I agree!

I wonder if these are one of the parents that refuse medical attention because they think God will cure them.

Somethings are ok to let God handle, but other things like cancer and other serious illnesses need to be handled by medical professionals.

Perhaps that's the way God manifests His helping?

Remember also we all have "God" (the side that tells us to do good things) inside us. It's just a matter of following 'God', if you know what I mean.
