      Peace ay,

There's a prayer something along the lines of...

Dear God, please give me the strength to change the things that I can change, the patience to accept the things that I cannot change, and the wisdom to know the difference.

I think those are words to live by.

Try to not to think yourself to the truth. Start with the basics, the foundation, as that is the purest form of the truth. When in doubt, return to your roots. Do what you KNOW is right, what you KNOW is in harmony with God, and the rest will work itself out.

And keep 569 in mind - that's essentially all you need.

      Peace,
      Tay

        Salaam sis Ay,

I would advise you to keep an open mind and pray to The God and ask for His guidance, for only The God can guide. Stick to the basics as bro Tay has advised. Keep reading and studying the Qur'aan to the best of your ability and connect with The God regularly by remembering Him and studying His signs. First of all concentrate on not setting up partners with The God and research this issue from the Qur'aan, because it is the most important aspect. Next, research what the straight path is (6151-153) and focus on staying away from the forbidden things, not violating the inviolable things, and doing good deeds.

Concentrate on being a muslim first and then later one can try becoming a mumin. See the following article for the difference between muslim and mumin

        http//free-minds.org/articles/gods_system/mumin.htm

Be patient and ask The God for guidance; sometimes it takes a lifetime to know the truth. As long as one is patient and humble and keeps making a sincere effort to discover the truth and implement it in one's life, one has nothing to worry about.

245 And seek help through patience, and through the salaat/connection. It is a difficult thing, but not so for the humble.

2153 O you who believe, seek help through patience and through the connection, God is with the patient ones.

3117 "O my son, establish the salaat/connection and advocate righteousness and forbid evil, and bear with patience whatever befalls you. These are the most honorable traits."

Try to follow the best meaning/understanding of The God's signs as researched by you using your God given senses and mind, reason, and logic, until you come across a better understanding. Keep striving with your self/ego (jihaad) to become peaceful and everything will become clear, God willing.

3918 The ones who listen to what is being said, and then follow the best of it. These are the ones whom God has guided, and these are the ones who possess intelligence.

3142 Or did you think that you would enter Paradise without God distinguishing those who would strive amongst you and distinguishing those who are patient?

1719 And whoever seeks the Hereafter and strives for it as it deserves, and is a believing person, then to those what they have sought is given in thanks.

2969 As for those who strive in Our cause, We will guide them to Our paths. For God is with the pious.

2278 And strive in the cause of God its truly deserved striving. He is the one who has chosen you, and He has made no hardship for you in the system/obligation/deen, the creed of your father Abraham; He is the one who named you 'those who have submitted/become peaceful' from before as well as in this. So let the messenger be witness over you and you be witness over the people. So establish the salaat/connection and contribute towards zakaat/betterment and hold tight to God, He is your patron. What an excellent patron, and what an excellent supporter.

True jihaad is the struggle with one's self/ego to become a muslim.

        http//thequran.wordpress.com/2007/07/02/jihad-the-struggle-to-become-a-muslim/

Remember we have been created weak, and The God is merciful and forgiving; He forgives all sins when one repents truly. He is the best of judges and will judge us fairly according to our weaknesses and limitations.

428 God wants to make easy for you; and mankind was created weak.

5332 They avoid major sins and lewdness, except for minor offences. Your Lord is with vast forgiveness. He has been fully aware of you since He initiated you from the Earth, and while you were embryos in your mothers' wombs. Therefore, do not acclaim yourselves; He is fully aware of the righteous.

10109 And follow what is being inspired to you and be patient until God judges. And He is the best of judges.

Feel free to discuss with others whatever is bothering or confusing you, so we can help each other clear up the confusion by mutual consultation using the knowledge that God has given us. Alhamdulillah, I have been able to clear up a lot of confusion for myself in this way by discussion with others. Verify and research everything said by others yourself before trusting it and practicing it per 1736.

4238 And those who have responded to their Lord, and they honor the connection, and their affairs are conducted by mutual consultation among themselves, and from Our provisions to them they give.

1736 And do not follow/cause to follow what you have no knowledge of. For the hearing, eyesight, and mind, all these you are responsible for.

May The God guide us all to the truth and the straight path.

This forum is not to resolve anything! It creates confusions in minds for those who dont give much time to study The Book. Study quran for yourself and figure out what God demands from you, afterall you are the one who is gonna answer for your own self. God has given you everything necessary to resolve your confusions for yourself, the mind... The Book ... and He is 'Aleemun Khabeer' and always JUST. So don't worry just give it some time and keep studying The Book.

The only source to resolve the confusions is The Book.

            Goodluck.

            peace

ah, p.s....changing your avatar can also help.....Life is beautiful )

              peace ay

There's nothing wrong with being confused, a lot of people are confused. You have to take your time to decide this is a life-long journey. Don't make a decision on anything until you are 100% sure of it. Don't think for a second you are the only one who is confused........ most people are confused. Just take your time and be patient. In my experience all the things that confused me.... I got the answers by being patient and the answers came to me eventually.

Good luck on your journey to the truth.

                peace ay, all,

In addition to what has been said.

One main point if one is confused, why not retreat to the core, the basics, the simple stuff, the foundation? i.e. do good deeds and try to be a good human being?

I always try to keep this in mind.

All information is correct to the best of my knowledge only and thus should not be taken as a fact. One should always seek knowledge and verify for themselves when possible: 17:36, 20:114, 35:28, 49:6, 58:11.
