Allah not all-loving?

God is called Rahman, coming from Rahma, just as the word Rihum, womb. Rahman refers to the Nourisher and Developer of the Universe and just as a womb developes a foetus, God never asks anything in return.
The Laws of God are fair, this concept of an emotional God is not Quranic. His Will is expressed through the Laws of the Universe. When you do good, you develop your Self, when you do wrong, you hurt your Self. When you stick your hand in the fire, you will burn, when you have done an evil deed, you will experience the consequences in this Life or the Next.
He has made the Universe in such a way so Mankind can develop themselves to the fullest. His only intervention is through given Revelation. For the rest, His Laws do the work. This act of creating, the attribute of Rahman, shows the care He has given into the Creation and the oppertunities hidden.
God does not discriminate betwee anyone. Even Hitler, just as the Pharoah, had till the last moment a change to reform, He is Rahman, the constant Developer. Everyday Hitler and the Pharoah was given a change to reform. Never was this chance taken away. This is the quality of Rahman. Sadly the Pharoah chose his point of death to be the point of reform, but this was not done out of sincerity but out of fear of the consequences of his own deeds.
The God of the Quran is fair and ever-caring.

7151 He said "My Lord, forgive me and my brother, and admit us in Your mercy; and you are the Most Merciful of those who show mercy."
Qala rabbi ighfir lee waliakhee waadkhilna fee rahmatika waanta arhamu alrrahimeena
1264 He said "Shall I trust him with you as I trusted you with Joseph before that? God is the best guardian, and He is the Most Merciful of those who show mercy."
Qala hal amanukum AAalayhi illa kama amintukum AAala akheehi min qablu faAllahu khayrun hafithan wahuwa arhamu alrrahimeena
1292 He said "There is no blame on you this day, may God forgive you, and He is the Most Merciful of those who show mercy."
Qala la tathreeba AAalaykumu alyawma yaghfiru Allahu lakum wahuwa arhamu alrrahimeena
2183 And Job when he called his Lord "I have been afflicted with harm, and you are the Most Merciful of those who show mercy!"
Waayyooba ith nada rabbahu annee massaniya alddurru waanta arhamu alrrahimeena

7151 He said "My Lord, protect = ghfir=ghafara= shield and helmet me and my brother , and admit us in Your Grace of Nourishment and Development = Rahma; and you are the best Provider =Raheem of nourishment and development=rahma."

To get out of the situation, Job needs the Laws of Nourishment that will provide him with the correct things to get out of the situation.

Didnt Pharaoh reform at the last moment or is there something wrong with the translation?

Alana waqad AAasayta qablu wakunta mina almufsideena
1092 but today We shall save only thy body, so that thou mayest be a sign unto those who will come after thee for, behold, a good many people are heedless of Our messages!"
Faalyawma nunajjeeka bibadanika litakoona liman khalfaka ayatan wainna katheeran mina alnnasi AAan ayatina laghafiloona

that is something i struggle with- the Quran says a number of times that there are men and women who will simply not believe in God- they wish for the stars to realign themselves and spell out a clear message, when the Quran indicates that the natural world, human intellect, ect. are clear enough signs for those who wish to consider Allah.
there are also examples of those who argue "if God wanted us to believe in Him, we would!" and i used this argument for a long time myself. Arnold, i really like your explanation of Rahman...
