I read somewhere on the forum that everything in Quran conforms to universal physical laws. Is this true?

I hope you don't mean my post. But that's my approach to the Quran, and I have no way of telling if it is true. God is above all.

      Peace all,
See now because of this kinna superstitious beliefs whilst taking the word "daraba" to mean "beat/strike", which it does NOT in classical Arabic, one also corrupts the meaing of 434. No, please read Dr. Shabbir Ahmed'stranslation which is much in accordance with bro Arnold Yasin's view
271 He answered, ?Behold, He says it is to be a cow that has not toiled in tilling the land nor in watering the crops and it is whole and healthy, unblemished.? Said they, ?Finally, you bring out a concrete description!? So they sacrificed her, although they would rather not have done it. (They still adored the golden calf. 293, 5101)
272 Behold! A person was slain and you were casting blame on each other. So Allah brought forth that which you were hiding.
273 We said, ?Apply the *Law to such cases of unsolved murder. This is how Allah gives life to the dead. And He expounds His Messages for you to use your common sense.

274 Then, even after that, you persisted in defiance so much so that your hearts became hardened as rocks, impermeable to reason. Or even worse, for, verily, there are rocks out of which gush forth rivulets, and behold, there are rocks that split asunder so that streams flow from them. And indeed there are rocks that become soft in awe of Allah. And Allah is not unaware of what you do. (Rocks fall to softness according to Divine Laws. They are more compliant than the hearts that defy reason.)

        Salaams All,

        using Qd;

        Sacrifice a heifer;

Moses is telling his people to give up disputes/ rivalry/ fighting/ killing.

        http//free-minds.org/forum/index.php?topic=13482.msg113729#msg113729

And his people debase him for doing what he is forbidding them as he killed a man previously himself.

        002.072
Remember ye slew a man and fell into a dispute among yourselves as to the crime But Allah was to bring forth what ye did hide.

So Moses is told to strike/ swarm/ make it significant (such a killing) and be stung/ be hurt/ feel pain by it thus Allah bringeth the dead to life (Allah makes him - one cherishing life).

        002.073
So We said "Strike it with a piece of the it." Thus Allah bringeth the dead to life and showeth you His Signs Perchance ye may understand.

I personally have no problem believing in the paranormal, even if I can't prove it scientificaly, if I find the scientific evidence not convincing enough.

Saima, let me digress here for a minute from the main topic. Let me ask you this. Why do you think that Quran is a book of God? Not that I have reached any conclusion yet; I am at the inital stages of my project. You are ready to accept the events like "striking a dead person with cow's meat, made him alive again." as true. You must have seen something superbly incredible in Quran that makes you believe in the book besides all uncanny stories (or rather I should say uncanny interpretations) What is that you have seen? Thanks.

OPF, I have read it else where as well. I like to keep the same approach as well. If I hit a dead end with this approach then I will have to evaluate at that point if going the other route is making any sense at all not.

              Dear Explorer,

After five days of 9/11 we had seen on the CNN 5 persons coming out alive; three of them were shown straight walking away and only two who were quite in senses were being taken to the hospital. What sort of science can we apply to these 5 lucky men? If I say that after death they were made alive to open our eyes and give us the convincing belief that one day after death we will be raised again what argument can you advance to rebut my statement?

Mazhar, "We all will be raised up again." I dont have a problem accepting this fact.
The creator who can raise us once, can certainly raise us one more time.

However, by me saying that "we will be raised up again" certainly does not mean that our rotten bodies will be raised up from the graves and start walking. This event will be in direct contradiction with the physics creator has created for us.

It has to happen in some other way, perhaps beyond our imagination and studies. If this wordly life is an illusion for us, as proposed by few branches of quantum mechanics, then the "d day" event will happen in the world outside our illusionary world. That world does not have to obey the same laws.

I do find following series of events difficult to grasp though

                • a person is murdered
                • dead body starts rotting
                • you kill a cow
                • you strike the dead person's body with the cow's meat
                • the dead person (rotten body) wakes up again
                • and tells you the name of the killer

First of all, is this the right interpretation? I am not sure.
All Quran is saying is "strike it with some of it" and we have deduced the above story from this line.

jonny_k and mz have provided an alternate interpretions which may be true, but not fitting like a glove. Certainly sounds more plausable than the "striking meat" interpretation.

Since Quran has not mentioned strike "what" with "what", I am going to continue my studies and not consider this as a show stopper.

I have seen people waking up after being technically dead. Happens all the time in hospital. But that is very different from the above scenario.

Mazhar, since you are ready to believe that a dead body can wake up in this manner, may I ask you the same question I posed to saima above? Thanks.

                  peace explorer

The phrase idribuhu bi-ba'diha can be literally translated as "strike him with something of her " -and this possibility has given rise to the fanciful assertion by many commentators that the children of Israel were commanded to strike the corpse of the murdered man with some of the flesh of the sacrificed cow, whereupon he was miraculously restored to life and pointed out his murderer! Neither the Qur'an, nor any saying of the Prophet, nor even the Bible offers the slightest warrant for this highly imaginative explanation, which must, therefore, be rejected-quite apart from the fact that the pronoun hu in idribuhu has a masculine gender, while the noun nafs (here translated as "human being&quot is feminine in gender from which it follows that the imperative idribuhu cannot possibly refer to nafs. On the other hand, the verb daraba (lit., "he struck&quot is very often used in a figurative or metonymic sense, as, for instance, in the expression daraba fi 'l-ard ("he journeyed on earth&quot, or daraba 'sh-shay' bi'sh-shay' ("he mixed one thing with another thing&quot, or daraba mathal ("he coined a similitude" or "propounded a parable" or "gave an illustration&quot, or ala darb wahid ("similarly applied" or "in the same manner&quot, or duribat alayhim adh-dhillah ("humiliation was imposed on them" or "applied to them&quot, and so forth. Taking all this into account, I am of the opinion that the imperative idribuhu occurring in the above Qur'anic passage must be translated as "apply it" or "this" (referring, in this context, to the principle of communal responsibility). As for the feminine pronoun ha in ba'diha ("some of it&quot, it must necessarily relate to the nearest preceding feminine noun-that is, to the nafs that has been murdered, or the act of murder itself about which (fiha) the community disagreed. Thus, the phrase idribuhu bi-ba'diha may be suitably rendered as "apply this to some of those " for it is obvious that the principle of communal responsibility for murder by a person or persons unknown can be applied only to some and not to all such cases.

                  hope this helps

reilly645, I am assuming you have provided various usages of "daraba" from the book. After reading your explanation I can see the case for this interpretation "apply this to some of those ".

                    Thanks for your time.

It is being presumed that they discharged communal responsibility. But what happened after it is not being looked into. "After this their hearts became hardened". If first presumption is taken as correct can the result be what has been told?
                      Dear Explorer,

You are interested in research. Please look into what has been said about the rocks and water in 274. Please firt translate the words of Quran in a simple manner and then find facts about rocks and water and you will appreciate and enjoy how comprehensively the entire phenomenon had been explained.
