    MY UNDERSTANDING

"naas" is an arabic word that means people. Correct me if I am wrong.

According to the book, joy comes for "people" from "women" and "children".

The word "people" includes both men and women. That would translate into "Joy comes to men and women from women and children".

    QUESTION

    1. Is Quran addressing only men here?
    2. The meaning is not making sense here. Is the word "Naas" correctly translated as "people"?

    VERSE

    003.014
Zuyyina lilnnasi hubbu alshshahawati mina alnnisa-i waalbaneena waalqanateeri almuqantarati mina alththahabi waalfiddati waalkhayli almusawwamati waal-anAAami waalharthi thalika mataAAu alhayati alddunya waAllahu AAindahu husnu almaabi
YUSUFALI Fair in the eyes of men is the love of things they covet Women and sons; Heaped-up hoards of gold and silver; horses branded (for blood and excellence); and (wealth of) cattle and well-tilled land. Such are the possessions of this world's life; but in nearness to Allah is the best of the goals (To return to).
PICKTHAL Beautified for mankind is love of the joys (that come) from women and offspring; and stored-up heaps of gold and silver, and horses branded (with their mark), and cattle and land. That is comfort of the life of the world. Allah! With Him is a more excellent abode.
SHAKIR The love of desires, of women and sons and hoarded treasures of gold and silver and well bred horses and cattle and tilth, is made to seem fair to men; this is the provision of the life of this world; and Allah is He with Whom is the good goal (of life).
KHALIFA Adorned for the people are the worldly pleasures, such as the women, having children, piles upon piles of gold and silver, trained horses, livestock, and crops. These are the materials of this world. A far better abode is reserved at GOD.

      Peace explorer,

People, nation, humankind, etc., can refer to men, women, or both so use best meaning.

      http//www.islamawakened.com/Quran/3/14

Obviously ?men? (a subset of humankind) in general covet women.

        peace

314 It has been adorned for people to love the desire of the most modern things, and buildings, and ornaments made from gold and silver, and trained horses, and the livestock, and fields. These are the enjoyment of the world, and with God are the best goods.

I am not an Arab but I know Nisa means women. "alnnisa-i waalbaneena" would mean "women and sons". I dont see these words in your suggested translation.
