To Obey the Prophet(PBUH) is obligatory to every Muslim
-
Brother leoxyz, the ahlul quran will never accept this ayat, they will simply say that since Rasool (alaihi salaatu wa salaam) taught nothing but Quran, to obey him is to obey nothing but Quran. What they don't realize is that Rasool (Alaihi salaatu wa salaam) did teach nothing but Quran, meaning the principles and values of the Quran, in teachings of more mundane and practical matters. In short, he elaborated the teachings of the Holy Quran where it is silent. This is why Allah kept revealed verses like And obey Allah and the messenger. that ye may obtain mercy (3132)
-
peace to al,
the Quran also says Mohammads only duty is to give the Quran doesnt it, if this is his only duty , as was the duty of all the other messengers, then out only duty is to follow them in their duty, right, so to follow the messenger is to follow the Quran, all other messengers in the Quran say to obey them also, not just Mohammad, so to obey them is to follow Quran,

You are right. No Ahl-ul-Quran can deny the Quran.
Thinking that the Holy Prophet's (PBUH) role was that of a Postman is absolutely wrong.
The Holy Prophet (PBUH) 's duty was to
1Recite the Verses to the people
2Teach them the book and philosophy of the Deen
3urify t hemSay, "Are the blind man and the seeing man alike ? *27 Are light and darkness alike ?" (1316)

The role of any prophet is that of a postman as some of our brothers think. If it was so Allah (SWT) could select any "UPS" or "FEDEX" service to send the book.Their role is much more than just a delivery man.
-Recitation of verses
-Teaching the book and philosophy of the Deen
-Purification of spirits of companions.
(Al-Quran) -
Dear
May I ask why are you afraid?Afraid of being responsible for the killings of someone who should not be killed? How dare they!
-
Peace,
I agree that Prophet Muhammad was not only a postman who delivered the mail, but He did pretty well recite it to other people to spread the message. Even if they understood it or not because Quran also claims that We are the ones who explain it and I'm not sure if the messengers are included here or just God himself and the Angels!?
But to follow a prophet/messenger cannot possibly mean to follow his private matters because that will take a living messenger to achieve that.

MajidahDear sister
These are misconception spread by the Quranists. When it is said that "Sunna" ,it never meant to follow the Prophet his private matters. The Holy Quran assigns him duty of 'teaching the book and philosophy" e.g
The Holy Quran says Offer Salat
The Holy Prophet (PBUH) tells how to offerThe Holy Quran says Perform Hajj
The Holy Prophet (PBUH) tells how to perform Hajj.It is the meaning of "teaches the book and philosphy of Deen".
-
Peace,
Aha, so how do you perform Salat according to Muhammad then?
If something isn't in Quran then I do not follow it.

Dear sister
You are at liberty. No one can enforce you. -
I think Sis Majidah's reply is correct.
If details are not written in the Qur'an, then God might not consider it to be as important as some believed.

Yes, exactly. Aside from the argument being completely circular (hadith says this, quran doesnt, thus hadith is necessary), it is fact that the quran is complete. Since it is, if something is not specifically given that YOU or the HADITH personally desire, then it is not important in the eyes of the quran. This is easy to see.

1316 Say "Who is the Lord and Sustainer of the heavens and the earth?" Say "(It is) Allah." Say "Do ye then take (for worship) protectors other than Him, such as have no power either for good or for harm to themselves?" Say "Are the blind equal with those who see? Or the depths of darkness equal with light?" Or do they assign to Allah partners who have created (anything) as He has created, so that the creation seemed to them similar? Say "(Allah) is the Creator of all things He is the One, the Supreme and Irresistible."
Done! 1 Recite the Verses to the people
Done! 2 Teach them the book
Done! 3 Purify themAha, so how do you perform Salat according to Muhammad then?
Yes I too want to see the exact instructions per hadith.
Thanks

Ayman
Yet this is what Ahl-Alhadith actually hear
He who obeys Bukhari et al. thereby obeys Allah;

Ayman
Ahl-Hadith are one extreme and you are the other, both are extremists and experience tells us extermists are not good for the society.

MajidahI don't remember any ayat in Quran that tells us to brush our teeth?
So Majidah since you not follow anything that is not in Quran; how long it has been you have not brushed your teeth?Quran tells us that there is a lesson in destruction of the people of Irum? so how did you get the lesson from Quran alone? How ? I am curious to know about it?
Quran talks about Salat, Zakat and Hajj
How do You perform them some are curious here to know about it?Please don't give us any links, try it for yourself and let us know what a real Quranist is?

You are right. Nowhere does Quran say to brush our teeth, but yet we do it.
This is becouse certain things and values, if not all existed with men long before Quran was revealed. Believe it or not people washed their hands, had baths, loved their children, respected their parents and orphans even before Muhamad, Quran and Bukhary came to light. In this sense Quran brought nothing new. It only reminded people of these values. There are somethings that people have to learn by themselves. Muhamad cannot teach you how to love God, or how to pray to him or what to pray for. Peole are different, have different needs and different ways of showing their emotions.
When praying to God, I have never until now wished that Muhamed was here to tell me how to do it, let alone other people like Bukhary. We are born as individuals, we shouldn't give that up.
