    Peace,

I agree that Prophet Muhammad was not only a postman who delivered the mail, but He did pretty well recite it to other people to spread the message. Even if they understood it or not because Quran also claims that We are the ones who explain it and I'm not sure if the messengers are included here or just God himself and the Angels!?

But to follow a prophet/messenger cannot possibly mean to follow his private matters because that will take a living messenger to achieve that.

    Peace
    Majidah

      Dear sister
These are misconception spread by the Quranists. When it is said that "Sunna" ,it never meant to follow the Prophet his private matters. The Holy Quran assigns him duty of 'teaching the book and philosophy" e.g
The Holy Quran says Offer Salat
The Holy Prophet (PBUH) tells how to offer

The Holy Quran says Perform Hajj
The Holy Prophet (PBUH) tells how to perform Hajj.

It is the meaning of "teaches the book and philosphy of Deen".

Aha, so how do you perform Salat according to Muhammad then?

If something isn't in Quran then I do not follow it.

I think Sis Majidah's reply is correct.

If details are not written in the Qur'an, then God might not consider it to be as important as some believed.

Yes, exactly. Aside from the argument being completely circular (hadith says this, quran doesnt, thus hadith is necessary), it is fact that the quran is complete. Since it is, if something is not specifically given that YOU or the HADITH personally desire, then it is not important in the eyes of the quran. This is easy to see.

              Peace

                  Peace,

The Holy Prophet (PBUH) 's duty was to
1Recite the Verses to the people
2Teach them the book and philosophy of the Deen
                  3Purify t hem

Say, "Are the blind man and the seeing man alike ? *27 Are light and darkness alike ?" (1316)

1316 Say "Who is the Lord and Sustainer of the heavens and the earth?" Say "(It is) Allah." Say "Do ye then take (for worship) protectors other than Him, such as have no power either for good or for harm to themselves?" Say "Are the blind equal with those who see? Or the depths of darkness equal with light?" Or do they assign to Allah partners who have created (anything) as He has created, so that the creation seemed to them similar? Say "(Allah) is the Creator of all things He is the One, the Supreme and Irresistible."

Done! 1 Recite the Verses to the people
Done! 2 Teach them the book
                  Done! 3 Purify them

Aha, so how do you perform Salat according to Muhammad then?

Yes I too want to see the exact instructions per hadith.

                  Thanks

You are right. Nowhere does Quran say to brush our teeth, but yet we do it.
This is becouse certain things and values, if not all existed with men long before Quran was revealed. Believe it or not people washed their hands, had baths, loved their children, respected their parents and orphans even before Muhamad, Quran and Bukhary came to light. In this sense Quran brought nothing new. It only reminded people of these values. There are somethings that people have to learn by themselves. Muhamad cannot teach you how to love God, or how to pray to him or what to pray for. Peole are different, have different needs and different ways of showing their emotions.
When praying to God, I have never until now wished that Muhamed was here to tell me how to do it, let alone other people like Bukhary.

We are born as individuals, we shouldn't give that up.

                                  Salaam Dion,

The way you answered has a big problem about it. Here is your dilemma

How can you be honest about searching for the way to pray when you have rejected outright an important piece of information? literally, the way it was reported that the prophet prayed.

Honesty stops a person from excluding important pieces of information even if they have not yet authenticated it.

So a person who just simply rejects the fashion the prophet prayed and then gets lost in searching for the true prayer is not really honest. He is lost by his own will and will carry the responsibility of his or her error with him till the moment he or she meets his creator

                                  Hussein

                                      Salaam.

This isn't an attempt to argue (with you), but a genuine question that makes me wonder. In the Quran Allah gives us the method of ''wusu'/washing before prayer and also gives us the times for prayer. Do you really feel that to suddenly miss out the method of prayer (if it's so important) makes much sense? I'm just confused that for the prayer preparations (wusu) the details are given, but then for the details of the prayer we're suppossed to look to the hadith? Why didn't Allah give the prayer instructions in the Quran (this way shias, sunni's and everyone else would have one single uniform method) but expect humans to collect details on such a crucial activity, by people who saw the prophet do it in a specific way (that Allah inspired to him)?

As I said, I'm genuinely curious. I'd appreciate some insight, thanks.

literally, the way it was reported that the prophet prayed.

                                        Latif,

The way you answered has even a bigger problem. THE WAY IT WAS REPORTED... Reported by whom? Who the f... is this reporter? If you have no problem with this reporter than I will start believing anything Fox News Reports.

Do you even know the meaning of "prayer"? Please explain your understanding of it? I will be glad to hear it
Dion; seriously are you a teen ager? or some "intellectual" of the level of ayman? because ayman says "house" of Allah can be anywhere and now you say You can pray any way, quite interesting.

I will not let you go away with it?

No I really give up. If "your God" is so picky that he is goona count the times you rolled your head to the sides, or the times and hight of buts going up when your head is hiting the ground than go ahead and take those kung fu lessons couse than there is no place for complaint with your extensive and attractive moves during prayer.

As I said, I am an individual and I wont give that up. The way I pray is my way and mine only O0

While i see the muslims being picky with each other, discussing on the way the prophet did this move or this one during prayer, on how to this or that... THey forget all the people that die because they have no food or water. They will keep giving only 2,5%, anddoing their rituals. Like enter the hime with the right foot, saying bismillah when you enter your home, it is said that the jinns can't enter the home if you say that. To put the first shoe on the right foot first, how to urinate, how to sleep, how to eat to drink, how to dress, howOIHD*?%?$F@J.
