Jinn may yet be referring to "plasma beings"
-
Peace all,
While i was absent on the forum ive been reading quite alot in scientific journals. One article was about the investigation of "ball lightening". Scientists now claim to duplicate the effect in the lab using plasma which contained a mixturte of HYDROGEN(water substance). They were however not as yet able to explain the round shape which the lightning flash forms. Probably due to equal air pressure distribution from the center. Anyways this immediately sparked a relation in my mind. Plasma(smokeless fire/naaru samoom) and water(maa). Could these plasma balls or balls of lightening be to jinn what eukaryotes(the first living cells) are to man? Could these balls evolve into complex living creatures given millions of years? Note that in case of the need of mixing with water te Quranic condition "khalaqa min MAAin kulla shayin hayy(created every living thing from water)" would hold now too. This could open up a complete new area of reserach if evidence is found to support this theory. I consider it worth investigating. GOD Bless! -
Smokeless fire can mean many things, plasma is one of them.

Peace "OPF",
True but it seems to fit the known substance called "plasma" rather marvellously since it has both heat and light properties but does not give off any non luminous random moving particles which could be considered smoke. And ofcoursde the rest of the stuff related to it. As i said it's worth discovering. Furthermore this would also explain any similar claimed hallucinations which occured in a group of people if these plasma beings could manipulate the brain by stimualting the frontal lobes with certain em pulses as has been done by scientists in the lab to create illusions in the subjects brain. GOD Bless! -

i think the association of jinn with plasma is because plasma is something that most being think of as mysterious and it is the stuff of science fiction. for one thing, plasma is not invisible. i think this association is purley speculative.
if you are looking to investigate physical phenomena that might be related to jinn in some way, may i suggest you look into superstrings. i can highly reccommend anything by Michael Green. it does help to have a grounding in mathematics, but i do not think you need be a mathematical genius to get a grasp of it.

Peace "ignoramus",
"Plasma" is the name given to ionized gas and is not fiction http//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plasma_%28physics%29 . Also who said Jinn should always be invisible although they can be. So can plasma depending on how much it is diluted per unit volume. GOD Bless! -

i am aware of what plasma is, and i was not suggesting it is fictional. by saying it is the stuff of science fiction, i was implying that plasma is commonly thought of as something mysterious, well suited to science fiction.
from my limited knowledge of the Quran, the jinn are very much characterised by their unseen-ness. i accept i may be totally wrong in this respect.
you say that plasma can be invisible according to how much it is diluted per unit volume, i think you need to think a bit deeper about in what way it is described as a gas. at the risk of straying into metaphysics, i think the idea of invisibilty needs some thought as well. although, for example, air cannot be seen by the naked eye, it can certainly be detected. if you put your cat in a box, it became invisible in a way because you cannot see it, but you can check for its presence and can determine whether it is there or not.
the reason i suggested superstrings is that these are things which (at least in current physics theory) exist, but they cannot be seen or detected (although it may be possible to prove their existence) because they exist outside our 3 spatial dimensions. the fourth or tenth spatial dimension is undetectable to us because we exist in a 3 dimensional realm, for want of a better word.
the nature of jinn is not of particular importance to me, and i do not intend to research the idea further. i just thought i might give some food for thought for anyone that is concerned with the physical nature of jinn.

Peace "ignoramus",
I stand corrected on misunderstanding your knowledge of plasma. But the nature of jinn should be such that we should be able to detect them. The Quran says, if taken by this suggested meaning, that people in the past communciated with jinn. Jinns are not to be considered as fairies who cannot be detected by particular physical devices. sorry, i wasnt trying to sound arrogant, and i wasnt trying to imply my knowledge of physics is better than yours.
i didnt explain superstrings very well; although these beasts cannot be detected directly, they manifest their existence in other ways... i think i will not do a very good job at explaining, so have a glimpse at
http//superstringtheory.com/
anyway, it is just another of my poorly research hunches, and probably does not mean a thing. i just thought i would give some food for thought to anyone interested in the physics of jinn.
i have not been to that site in a long time, so if you do not find the information you are looking for there, do a search for "Michael Green". he is a really great theoretical physicist, and in my opinion, his insight and ideas stand alongside Stephen Hawking and other great scientists of our age.
