"It is not fitting for a man that Allah should speak to him except by inspiration, or from behind a veil, or by the sending of a Messenger to reveal, with Allah's permission, what Allah wills, for He is most high, most wise."

    Surah 4251

The above quranic verse speaks for itself.

    PEACE

Yes we can hear God. He can send revelations even in this age, though there is no more prophets, there are still the position of muhaddath and mulham, those people who receive revelations and inspirations from Allah in their dreams, visions, and even while awake. I have experienced ilham in dreams mostly however.

Revelation is the Prerogative of Prophets Only .None else.

Leonyx the ayat you quoted is talking about ilmul ghaib (secret knowledge) which is only revealed through the Mursaleen (Messengers). But I am talking about ordinary wahi which descended on Maryam (Alaihi salaam) but she was NOT a Rasool. And also Hazrat Umar Farooq (Radhi Allahu anhu) had a wahi in which he learned the words of azaan.

"Among the nations before you there used to be people who were inspired (though they were not prophets). And if there is any of such a persons amongst my followers, it is 'Umar." (Sahih Bukhari Kitab fazail e sahaba)

Wahi is always for telling Ghaib. What is known need not to be revealed.Does it?
I can talk on this topic but will not comment further.I do not want to give any loop hole to "mischeifs"
            Best of luck

This is incorrect. For example, one famous muhaddath, Hazrat Maulana Abdul Haq Ghaznavi (rahmatullah alaih) got a revelation (wahi) that is an ayat of the Quran, but this is not ghaib because this ayat is well known

              ALAISA ALLAHU BI KAFIN AABDAHU
(Is not Allah sufficient for His Servant?) Az-Zumar

And also, we know that Maryam (Alaihi salaam) got a wahi, but is she a prophet? No.

And mary the daughter of 'Imran, who guarded her chastity; and We breathed into (her body) of Our spirit; and she testified to the truth of the words of her Lord and of His revelations, and was one of the devout (servants). (6612)

Behold! the angels said "O mary! Allah hath chosen thee and purified thee- chosen thee above the women of all nations. (342)

Also, what is your comment on the hadith I posted?

Is that why you "mischievously" neglected posting the verse prior and avoided giving the proper context/perspective?

7225 Say "I do not know..."

What is obviously known was not initially and is still invisible to the blind unless revealed. !

My belief is Revelation is only to Prophets and after the Holy Prophet PBUH is door is closed for ever because there is no furhther prophethood.

If you believe some "Ghazanwi" used to get revelation. That is your belief.I am not used to believe in "hearsay".

Barrier, or separation. In other words, revelation never comes directly from God, except to messengers through wahi, divine inspiration/revelation.

                              look at what 2pac posted

look at what it says, doesn't say Allah speaks ONLY through messengers, says also through inspiration, ok that's fine,
says also behind a veil, that's another way, there are 3 ways. says so in the verse,
the other 2 i understand, just this behind a veil thing is what i'm wondering about now,
how would that go? could anyone explain that?

                                  Peace all,

Since I don't believe in wandering spirits/ghosts on earth and/or "transparant" angels, I therefore believe that most (actually all) of us communicate with the Almighty instead of the mentioned "beings".
When I hear a psychic talking about receiving messages from angels and/or spirits, I find it quite weird that such a person thinks those "beings" really exist in a 'hidden world', while she actually is absorbing information of the Almighty, the Great Force. Isn't God the one who rules over the hidden world? Why should the Almighty, the Greatest Force, let others do the work for Him/Her while He/She can do it for Him-/Herself? Why should the Almighty send other beings that are also hidden just like Him-/Herself?

                                  Pondering... confused

                                      Peace

A TV program is a way of communication, used to transmit a message from the producer/owner of the media to the general public. This program is made with different videos and sounds, different places and times, stories about some group of people and situations... Then the program is received on a TV screen to be viewed by the audience.

Now, there is a program involving an entire universe, with an inhabited planet, with 6 billions or more people plus all other living creatures, with all sorts of places and situations, communicated through our very eyes, felt and tasted, with all sort of sounds, a program to which we can participate if we wish to. This is what we call reality. Isn't it enough of a communication from the owner/producer, the creator?

This reality must be telling us something, a way of teaching us, communicating with us, inspiring us (and every other form of creation, if I am not mistaken, inspiration is not limited to humans only), are we receptive to such communication?

Plus ideas, knowledge, nonsense, emotions... all this is communication, isn't it?

As for hearing God; Your are asking if we can hear Producer? This doesn't sound gramaticaly correct, an incomplete question; You didn't define what Producer you are asking for.

                                        peace all

                                        Pondering... confused

then who is the spirit sent to mary to tell her she will have a child (jesus)? did God come to her? that would be strange since it says we sent Our spirit...
it may not be a human shaped being with hands and legs, wearing a white sheet, with bird-like wings... hehe,
but it does seem (from reading the quran) that there are somekind of creations sent to deliver the message to humans, i heard that such creation is called gabriel (jibril),
but yes, God spoke directly to moses, so i'm wondering how,
and since laws of nature apply to all humans, then shouldn't we also be able to hear God?

The God speaks to all, the trick is to listen.

                                        PEACE

well yeah, but how? how do we listen? what do we have to do?

ok in 4251 there are 3 ways mentioned,
one of them implies that God can talk to us behind a veil...
how does that go? how does it work? what do i have to do?
