Woman Performs Her Own Caesarean and Survives
-
Any particular reasons if you don't mind me asking?
We don't want the risks of the epidural (such as death).
I want to find a hospital that allows midwifes to perform the delivery. I have to have my labor in a hospital because I am a high risk pregnancy. But even if I have a doctor do my delivery, I would refuse the pitocin. We are currently avoiding as many chemicals and stuff as possible. I look forward to getting pregnant, but I am still nervous about the risks.
-
Ah I see. I would agree that in a high risk case, it makes sense to want to avoid chemicals etc. Hopefully you'll be able to find some hospital in your area that will cater to this. Water births always sounded appealing to me and some hospitals like the one I went to (Brigham & Women's) had these jacuzzi's and all. It lessens the pain factor so maybe that could also be an option, along with aromatherapy maybe. You could also join a maternity forum like I did at the time, and talk about it with others also going through the same, it helped. Good luck!

Birthing under normal healthy environmentally friendly conditions is one of the most beautiful experiences on earth. Todays medicine however has turned it into a disease and it is treated as such. If the natural process is followed as much as possible, women can have the most beautiful experiences. Most women would disagree the indoctrination of medicine has sunk in deep, or the fear modern medicine has put into people in general puts women off natural birth.
Birthing
A beautiful love filled conception
A fully wanted pregnancy
The perfect diet and advice from your midwife
An understanding husband
A glowing mother to beNo serious complications
You have your up days and downs but for the most part its all good. this goes for arguments as well.
The baby grows perfectly
The time for birth is close .... let me see if I remember this correctly
Your midwife still with you every step of the way...You are at home baking or just keeping busy and you water breaks... you call your midwife who is there in minutes...
Your husband is also called and is also there.....Loads and loads of love and reassurance, sometimes it helps when women become a bit intimate with the husbands by kissing... this releases oxytocin (the love hormone) which eases the whole process. this love hormone gets released anyway .. cuddling or kissing just helps the process. Some women will not want to be touched. I have seen births where women do this and feel good even through all the pain.
the pains eventually get closer and heavier....
Your body releases adrenalin, endorphins (pain killers), and oxytocin....
Your beautiful baby is born and put straight onto your chest in order to find its way to your breast (this is so important and so overlooked) "from the inside womb to the outside womb" (note the cord is not cut yet, and there is no wiping and scoring the child)
The baby starts suckling... this helps with oxytocin production and allows the uterus to contract once again in order to deliver the placenta... The placenta is born the cord is cut....Mother and child bonds daddy is crying ... midwife is smiling...
When mother and baby are ready then we can bath and and and...
Important points
Mother must be totally empowered
baby must trigger its own labor, thereby being empowered too
the birth must be done at home preferably with a hospital withing reasonable reach (EMERGENCIES ONLY)
Total control must be given to mother to follow her own instincts
Premature separation of mother and child (straight after birth for a bath and scoring could cause problems later)
Birthing on your back is unnaturalWomen in my view have been disempowered for too long, going against the natural process have definite consequences, subtle or major, long or short term.
it is time for women to take their own back and have full control of their bodies and birthing processes. And we wonder why there are so many labels for kids today......I urge women to research birthing and feel secure and empowered enough to make the best INFORMED decisions when deciding on birthing options.
May Allah guide us all

What powerful hormones affect the process of labor and birth?
It can be especially helpful to know about three of the many hormones involved with reproduction oxytocin, endorphin, and adrenaline. These hormones play a major role in regulating the process of labor and birth.Learning about these can help a woman understand what will happen during labor and birth. Women and caregivers can take actions that support or disrupt effective action of these hormones. So, understanding how they work and how they are affected is important for making informed decisions.
What is the role of oxytocin during labor and birth?
Oxytocin is often known as the "hormone of love" because it is involved with lovemaking, fertility, contractions during labor and birth, and the release of milk in breastfeeding. It helps us feel good, and it triggers nurturing feelings and behaviors.Receptor cells allowing a woman's body to respond to oxytocin increase gradually in pregnancy, and then sharply in labor. Oxytocin is a potent stimulator of contractions, which help to dilate the cervix, move the baby down and out of her body, give birth to her placenta, and limit bleeding at the site of the placenta. During labor and birth, the pressure of the baby against the cervix and then against tissues in the pelvic floor stimulates oxytocin and contractions. So does a suckling newborn.
Low levels of oxytocin during labor and birth can cause problems by
- causing contractions to stop or slow, and lengthening labor
- resulting in excessive bleeding at the placenta site after birth
- leading providers to respond to these problems with interventions.
What is the role of endorphins during labor and birth?
Endorphins are calming and pain-relieving hormones that people produce in response to stress and pain. The level of this natural morphine-like substance may rise toward the end of pregnancy, and then rises steadily and steeply during unmedicated labors. (Most studies have found a sharp drop in endorphin levels with use of epidural or opioid pain medication.) High endorphin levels during labor and birth can produce an altered state of consciousness that helps women flow with the process, even when it is long and arduous. Despite the hard work of labor and birth, a woman with high endorphin levels can feel alert, attentive, and even euphoric as she begins to get to know and care for her baby after birth. Endorphins may play a role in strengthening the mother-infant relationship at this time. A drop in endorphin levels in the days after birth may contribute to the "blues" that many women experience at this time.Low levels of endorphin can cause problems in labor and birth by
- causing labor to be excessively painful and to feel intolerable
- leading providers to respond to this problem with interventions.
What is the role of adrenaline during labor and birth?
Adrenaline is the "fight or flight" hormone that humans produce to help ensure survival. Women who feel threatened during labor (for example by fear or severe pain) may produce high levels of adrenaline. Adrenaline can slow labor or stop it altogether. Earlier in human evolution, this disruption helped birthing women move to a place of greater safety.Too much adrenaline can cause problems in labor and birth by
- causing distress to the unborn baby
- causing contractions to stop, slow, or have an erratic pattern, and lengthening labor
- creating a sense of panic and increasing pain in the mother
- leading providers to respond to this problem with cesareans and other interventions.
What steps can women take to help ensure that these hormones work well?
A woman can promote her body's production of oxytocin during labor and birth by- staying calm, comfortable, and confident
- avoiding disturbances, such as unwelcome people or noise and uncomfortable procedures
- staying upright and using gravity to apply her baby against her cervix and then, as the baby is born, against the tissues of her pelvic floor (these stimulate oxytocin)
- engaging in nipple or clitoral stimulation activities before birth and giving her baby a chance to suckle shortly after birth (these stimulate oxytocin).
A woman can enhance her body's production of endorphins during labor and birth by
- staying calm, comfortable, and confident
- avoiding disturbances, such as unwelcome people or noise and uncomfortable procedures
- delaying or avoiding epidural or opioids as a pain relief method.
A woman can keep adrenaline down during labor and birth by staying calm, comfortable, and relaxed. The following can help
- being informed and prepared
- having trust and confidence in her body and her capabilities as a birthing woman
- having trust and confidence in her caregivers and birth setting
- being in a calm, peaceful, and private environment and avoiding conflict
- being with people who help her with comfort measures, good information, positive words, and other support
- avoiding intrusive, painful, disruptive procedures.

From my own experience, some special physical excercise during pregnancy can be very helpful during labour, delivering and after delivering. My first labour was quite mild and the delivery was very fast (two pushes only). In two weeks I was able to return to my pre-pregnancy weight, 55 kilos then, although I put on 20 kilos extra during pregnancy which was a big concern to my doctor. The second dlievry was three years later and in a different country. I did fewer excercises from my memory which did help but not as much and it took longer to shed the extra kilos (20 kg again!). The third was nine years later, in a third country famous for its latitude (and forests) and less oxygen. I was lying down most of the time, very tired. I gained even more than the 20 kg and the labour was hell. That was when I would rather interrupt the labour and cut my belly to get rid of the baby if I could. It took me more than six months to shed most of the extra weight.

Peace,
I have delivered 5 children, 4 normal and 1 caesarean all in a hospital in my country(Sweden).
For my 4 normal vaginal labours I just breathed in a mask oxygen with something made myself a bit dizzy and calm and it helped me. But I have heard that some women feel ill of that mask.
With or without that mask it's very important to breathe deeply and try to relax as much as you can between the painwaves as i call them.
The caesarean case wasn't that nice, I was sleeping and when i woke up I felt confused. And all this pain in the wounds later on ouch ouch I don't wish that on my worse enemy if I had one.
Besides this I had all of my kids between the age of 19-29 I'm now 35 years old. I haven't decide whether I want more kids or not, for the moment I'm single and the time ticking yeah well....
But that moment when they put the naked baby on my breast and that sweet special baby smell oh it's have to be felt and experienced because it's not possible to describe that lucky moment, it's such a gift a great gift that i have worked hard to get ).
Peace

Do average women want their husbands to be by their sides during labour? Im asking this because just by watching some woman giving birth on TV alone makes me almost lose my consciousness ...
Yes, emotional support. If/when that happens, I sure am not looking forward to it. I love gory movies, but can't handle real-life blood.

I have heard, that eating dates before labour reduce pain. Its sounds naive maybe, maybe just blacebo-effect.But was helpful for me,
Mary/Maryam's story
1923 Then the birth pains came to her, by the trunk of a palm tree. She said "I wish I had died before this, and became totally forgotten!"
1924 But then he called to her from beneath her "Do not be sad, your Lord has made below you a stream."
1925 "And shake the trunk of this palm tree, it will cause ripe dates to fall upon you."
1926 "So eat and drink and be happy. If you see any human being, then say "I have declared a fast for the Almighty, and I will not talk today to any of mankind."" -
Peace,
Yes it's true about the dates but the problem can be that the midwife and also the doctor can forbid you to eat before the labour in case of an emergency caesarean. Maybe you can drink datejuice because they allow you to drink so that can be an option.
