We must love Prohvet Mohammed more than our family
-
The verse in question is probably al-Ahzaab 6
An-nabiyyu awlaa bi'l mumineena min anfusihim... The Prophet has a higher claim on the believers than they do on themselves...
The word awlaa conveys a concept of OBEDIENCE rather than love. So the verse indicates obeying the Prophet of Islam rather than loving Muhammad in person. This divine message is reinforced by Al-Ankabuut 8
We enjoin man to treat his parents well; however, should they attempt to make thee ascribe divinity side by side with Me to something which thy mind cannot accept, OBEY THEM NOT...

there's this verse
924 Say "If your fathers, and your sons, and your brothers, and your wives, and your clan, and money which you have gathered, and a trade which you would fear if it declines, and homes which you find pleasing; if these are dearer to you than God and His messenger and striving in His cause, then wait until God brings His decision. And God does not guide the wicked people."i've heard them use this one when i talked to them
besides, how do we love the prophet today?

Most probably "His messenger" here means His message. The meaning is clear.
This reminds me of the famous Egyptian actor's son who married a girl in secret "3urfi" and when she got pregnant he denied being the father. His parents strongly supprted him and refused that he underwent a genetic test o confirm or refute the girl's claim.
