What sort of Muslim are you? Beliefnet quiz
-
20 here. I agree some of the questions were not applicable or there weren't enough choices.
-
Does this mean that I am what people say when they label some as progressive muslims? & wow confused
I didn't really see myself as such...but maybe the description fits. hmm But obviously from the limit of choices they have from the questions as answers, they are not 100% accurate in describing me or maybe most on this forum. )
As Salaamu Alaikum, peace
You scored 40, on a scale of 0 to 60. Here's how to interpret your score
0 - 15
Secular Muslim. Read more about yourself.
16 - 30
Spiritual Seeker. Read more about yourself.
31 - 45
Progressive Muslim. Read more about yourself.
46 - 60
Traditional Muslim. Read more about yourself. You are a progressive Muslim.
You are a devout believer in God, and Islam is your direct path to Him. You understand Islam mainly through your intellect. You probably interpret Islam historically and might believe that ijtihad should be reopened. You have probably gone through years of questioning to come to the understanding of Islam that you have now. You might receive criticism for what are perceived as your open views.0 = least traditionalist, more or less atheist/"secular"
60 = full blown hadeethist.
It's a measure of how "hadeethist" you are, not how "muslim" you are.

Peace,
I got 31 "Progressive Muslim". Q20 should have had a reference to indepedent lines of inquiry though. I selected no. 2 coz of the first phrase which i connected with dont ask any specific human/group. However ther 2nd would contradict this anyways so whatever the options were absurd anyways. GOD Bless! -

Damn! I still have 7 points to go to be pure and good and whatnots.. D
53 Traditional Muslim... ;D I guess I fail at that even when I try... '(
Ok.. I seriously think that site just sent all my information to the dept. of homland sercurity for answering those questions the way I did. lol! ... no seriously.. I think I just got myself into a series of terror watch lists and no fly lists aswell...
So I guess, by taking that quiz, I learned the real answer to the question "What Kind of Muslim Are You?"
A f#ked one... giveup
btw. for this question
Q4. If your Muslim friend told you he is gay, you would
- Work hard at convincing him that people have homosexual thoughts, but they should not be acted upon because they are forbidden.
It's not only my gay friends.. but all my friends that I work with to convince them not to act on their homosexual thoughts.. ok.. ok... it's everybody that i do this with.. not just friends... actually this test was so "gay" that I'm trying to convince my computer not to act upon it's thoughts from being on that site... -*

It's been a while since you've said that I bet P
<ahem> Yes, I would expect most here to get spiritual seeker.
That was cold. Someone should have told you that you need to respect the elderly. ;D

I bet this is where you lost these 7 points

Not the answer of a "pure and good" one

Unlike some who can't seem to stop announcing their sprightly spring chickeness comparatively? I would agree.
That was cold. Someone should have told you that you need to respect the elderly.
That's right bro, I'll help you wash his mouth/hands with soap. In my day, we'd have made him listen to A Flock of Seagulls for hours before they'd beg for mercy.

lol i got secular muslim, which is exactly what i am not
You are a cultural or secular Muslim. You might identify yourself with the Muslim community, but like Kareem Abdul Jabbar, you have no problems with beer commercials. Islam provides you with more of a social setting or community than a set of religious beliefs. You may live by many of the basic principles of Islam, but you do not necessarily choose to attribute them to Islam. You are probably not too comfortable with many of the social restrictions often associated with Muslim organizations or societies.
I'm not a cultural muslim, i don't identify, i don't need the social setting - but it's true, if i don't have problems with beer commercials i do with sex references involved to sell anything nowadays...
I took the test again with answers which i would have given from age 20 to 40 (42 now and changed a bit these last 2 years!) and i would have had spiritual seeker - the definition still suites me though !
peace all, lk

Peace Samia,
I bet this is where you lost these 7 points
Not the answer of a "pure and good" oneYour right! )
I pray no one took my post to be serious. I was curious if I were to answer all the questions on the quiz with the most narrow minded answers, what would the test score and label be. Sure enough it gave me a higher score than most here who's answers were probably much more honest. This is why it made me think that the outlook of test on Islam is twisted to begin with. I couldn't believe my eye's when I read the question about Salman Rushdie.
Q. "If you met Salman Rushdie in a dark alley, what would you do?"
A."Tell him that the fatwa should have never been revoked and even consider taking the matter into my own hands."This is what I answered on the quiz, and it gave me a higher score! That's horrible!
Peace. peace
