Why no "Bismillaha" for sura nine?
-
Salaams All,
Is it anything to do with the action taking place in sura nine?
Using QD.
Baraatun mina Allahiwarasoolihi ila allatheena AAahadtum minaalmushrikeena
With a smile of delight- His bond most gracious, most merciful.
Or
With the description of His bond most gracious most merciful.
So why isn?t there this sentence at the start of sura nine?
Possibly because the Kufar are being told they are about to get hammered, which is opposite to making or establishing the bond of graciousness and mercifulness?
If the sentence was simply;
Read in the name of Allah most gracious most mercifulness.
Then there isn?t any reason not to have the Bismillah in front of this sura either is there? To Belt someone is indeed opposite to being gracious and merciful isn't it?
Salaam.

Sura Al Kafiroon is similar one ; but there is Bismilla Hirrahmanir Raheem

Peace,
I don't believe that it is really a separte Surah although traditionally it has been viewed that way. In a natural text it would flow together with Surah 8 and I see the bismallahs as the only separators in the Quran. Even the wuqoofs are according to traditional interpretations of where ideas begin and end in the Quran. The earliest Qurans also don't have verse markers nor do recitations take verse markers into consideration.

Aoodhu billahi minashshaitanir rajeem shall alone be the beginning of the recitation or rehearsal.
Bismilla hirrahma nirraheem is not the beginning of the recitation for any sura or ayat.So going by the essence of Quran, like sura 9,
Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem is not part of the beginning of each chapter. -
Salaams drfazl,
I think sura 109 isn't about warning,Threatening thief's Vandals thugs, murderers - but sura 9 is.
When you want to show authority to such a people in any place you have to show force behind you- and that can never be done with a softly softly approach or it may be taken the wrong way especially in the case of thief's, Vandals thugs, murderers and that is the contents of sura nine - i think.
So the sura 9 doesn't entail ........"With a smile of delight........... or with a kindly kindly aproach......"
Salams Anwar,
you could be right Br.
Gods Blessings.

Peace,
Again this is just the way I see it.
drfazl,
Aoodhu billahi min alshaitaanirajeemi is not in any Surah before bismillaahi rahmaaniraheemi. The reason why Muslims say this is because there is an injunction in the Quran that tells us to seek refuge in God from the shaitaan when we read the Quran. You follow tradition and I follow logic and the Quran. To you your way and to me mine. yuck

Can we call ourselves Muslims or it is for Allah to judge; i do not follow the tradition but the Essence of it. Yes to me my way, the way of Allah!

Salaaam Alaikum
IMHO we can call ourself Muslim ie submitting to the test from the Creator and do our best to follow the guidance from the Qur'an and it is for Allah to judge if we passed, or failed.
May we pass this trial
Best regards

Peace,
Drfazl,
I don't ascribe to your definition of Muslim. So there is no point to start that conversation if it will just end up in an argument. And you may consider your way, God's way, but God's way is just submission to God, period. If you have submitted and made peace with God and then you are guided, as that is all that really matters.
