Who are your favorite speakers on Islam?

I havent checked out the names you mentioned amuslim, I will try to find them and watch,, I do like MalcolmX speeches alot, I myself have given many public speeches and was told that im pretty good at it, I wish I could gain more knowledge about Islam and become a speaker to help spread its message of peace.

My favorites are Ahmad Deedat and Dr Zakir Naik. I first came across Dr Naik on Youtube and since then I have watched almost all his lectures on YouTube. His approach to debates and Islam in general is well respected from me, even though I dont agree on some minor things that he speaks on. I heard about Deedat through Naik, as he stated he was his teacher of sorts, and Ive been watching his videos too. I have yet to find speakers that grab me like Deedat and Naik. Those two are something that I would like to be God willing.

There are some on Youtube. Dr Naik has a satellite called Peace TV.

The good thing about Naik and Deedat is that they have basically memorized many scriptures. The Mahabarata, Gitas, Bible, Quran, etc. in the original language as well. They even accept (and encourage) questions at the end of their talks, from Non muslims first. They dont read from Quran, they recite from memory.

My preferred is Tariq Ramadan although he is a traditionalist muslim. He is doing great job for convincing muslims living in western countries to be active citizens, adapting their islamic ways of life to the countries they live in. And I suspect him of having a progressive vision of Islam although it does not clearly appear in his speechs and articles (it is not easy to read his articles between the lines the letters are very small ;D )
In addition, what makes him much more sympathetic than others for me is that he is against corporal punishment.There are many other (arab) speakers who deserve to be heard but in 99.9999% of the cases, they use hadiths in the same way they use Qur'an and I always ask myself how can these very intelligent guys be so blind? brickwall

If i was you, i'd speak about the things what i know, i already do that and learn some more with time and with the help and will of Allah SWT, God willing.If there's anything i can do to help spread the message of Islam, The Quran, let me know.

Edip Yukel was recently becoming one of my favorite spokesperson on the subject of Islam. He is a courageous thinker whos reflections are very thought provoking. I was recently struck by his dissertation on, 'Rational Monotheism.' Our brother Edip seems to have taken on the cause of reconciling Islam and science and thereby liberating the Muslim mind from the 'dark ages.' As I digested his thoughts and observations an obvious imbalance kept teeter-tottering his level headed approach in my mind. I'm talking about the value of non-linear thought which does not necessarily follow any discernible pattern. The order in which things happen do not necessarily add up to truth, this is an error in logic demonstrable in case of the savage who beats his drum at dawn to make the sun rise. One thing occuring before another is no proof of cause. Edip describes his rational conversion and conformation of his belief in God. a process that he sees as a necessity for all believers. Many, dare I say most people do not share brother Yukel's intellectual gifts. Is it really that difficult to be a believer? Thought can have a linear or non-linear make up as is it seems the case with the Quran the literal and the figurative. The end or the conclusion is the important thing right? Not how we got there. The Quran is designed so that the intellectual and non-interllectual reach the same belief. Edip's outlook seems like more elittism to me. No intellectual argument or amazing sermon has made me Muslim or keeps me on the straight path. God alone makes believers. Am I less than you because I don't possess an identical understanding? My favorite Speaker on Islam is God.

Ahmad Deedat!
I spent two weeks with him in 1980 at a summer camp organized by WAMY (World Assembly of Muslim Youth) and there I heard first time from him Code 19 of the Quran. I translated some of his books to Turkish and continued corresponding with him for a few years until I contacted Rashad in 1985.
Deedat was not only a skilled public speaker, he had a very high IQ. May God have mercy on him.

You are what you like, because all humanity are sympathetic the man as they are - thinking, ideology and so on. I really like all person who are speaking or talking for the sack of the God. And whenever I listen their lecture, I will be a good listener, not anti the preaching, but I don't like to sum up the source whether correct or incorrect, because I am a listener, not speaker. I can decide myself which one is sound and authentic.
