    Peace People,

There are so many opportunities and temptations to sin in actions, but can thoughts be sins too?
    Please discuss tempt

I once had that questions. Then I realised thoughts are like words.

1424 Have you not seen how God puts forth the example that a good word is like a good tree, whose root is firm and whose branches are in the sky.
1425 It bears its fruit every so often by its Lord's leave; and God puts forth the examples for the people, perhaps they will remember.
1426 And the example of a bad word is like a tree which has been uprooted from the surface of the Earth, it has nowhere to settle.

      Peace

      Al

        Superb analogy.

Thoughts are innately harmless like seeds but plant the wrong kind and you get poison ivy (yes, I know).

If I tell you dont think of blue, you would still think of blue. Also, things just come into your mind via triggers, like if you see a white line, it may trigger something. I believe that the problem lies if you throw wood into the fire. Its also similar to the hadith of the man asking the Muhammad about looking at women. Muhammad apparently says that the first look is permitted, but not the second. Its similar in that the first is unintentional, while the second is.

          Peace

3953 Say "O my Servants who have transgressed against their souls! Despair not of the Mercy of Allah. for Allah forgives all sins for He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

That is a beautiful verse; never too late to change -- all starts with our thoughts or attitude!

              Thanks people for your viewpoints.
It seems none of you feels that thoughts can be sins, but what about belief? Is not belief in essence a thought and maybe the most important one since disbelief will send us to eternal torment and how about hypocricy, which is thinking one thing and pretending another. Right? wow

                Peace G.Omar,

Thoughts and beliefs are different. Thoughts can be uncontrollable, such as it can come into your head. Like I said, if I say, "Dont think of the color blue", thats almost impossible. However, you can either choose to reinforce it or not. Just let it come and go or you can ponder on it. If you ponder on it, then its different.

Its the same like seeing a provocative female. You see her because she's in front of you. Then you have the choice to continue to look at her or not. This is also the same in your mind. You can choose to keep your attention on it or let it pass.

                Peace

Peace, thoughts can run things just like words. But thoughts if not backed by desire and action are harmless. A man cannot be held responsible for what he didnt want to happen.

                    Peace

If you intend to good according to the manner of God and things turn out bad are you in the wrong? Then, if you do something good in the eyes of people with an intent to some evil is it according to the manner of God?

Thoughts are always result of some action or experience.

so the one who made you think such is sinfull. God Knows.
