    Peace Al-Quraishi,

I was thinking the same thing for some time. My thoughts on the matter (no offense to anyone) is that some people have Western values that they like, therefore they don't abandon Islam, they just make it more liberal to suit their tastes. Thats my opinion on why North America and Europe is at the top of that. South Asian families that migrated to America or Europe and have a Muslim background find that GOD Alone fits their wants in a religion and not a conservative one like Sunnism. For example, theres God Aloners that debate whether drinking alcohol is really Haram, or if you can with moderation. Also not having to dress up as a women and being able to relax their clothing, etc. Im not saying that all people do this, but could be one of the factors into following this movement.

Being born in a Western culture (or around it such as TV) some people want to do the same things, so this fits them. Im personally against having that as a reason to follow the Quran alone since that shouldn't be the basis, but truth.

Then again, from what I heard, the majority of converts to Islam (Im thinking the majority is to Sunnism) are 2/3 women in US.

    Peace

      Peace Al-Quraishi,

The 'GOD Alone Islamic Communities' section continues to intrigue me
      Glad to hear it.

there's a nice section for North America at the top
nice? top? ??? You do know that the originator of this forum is not from North America or Europe right?

and then the entire 90% of the corpus of the Muslim world being dumped in the last section titled 'Asia/Middle East'
dumped? I like to think of it as Asia and Middle East together as brother and sisters and Europe and America as separatists. But to each his own, I guess.

with poor old Africa (which has more Muslims in Sub-Sahara than North America and Europe put together!) left out
There's like less than 5 members from Africa here, and that's including me. You still think there should be more sections on this forum with as many sections as it already has?

In any case, for any of those from Africa, South America and Australia (or any other sub-division), who would like to have their own sections created... please stand up.

NOTE Please do not relegate this post all the way down the bottom where no-one can see it, this is not a suggestion but a serious issue that needs to be discussed.
Now will you look at that! We have a section for forum suggestion and you dont even want to use it! Nice.

        That's not the issue here.

??? Ok - whatever - but that's a poor excuse to have 90% of the Muslim world and 60% of the entire human race in one section.

Perhaps if there was an Africa section there'd be more Africans around!

          Perhaps.

Thanks for the suggestion. We'll look into adding another section.

Are Qur'an Alone Muslims western-biased after all? Cause that's what it's going to look like. Free minds should really change this. What does everyone else think?

It seems alot of underlining issues here point to, yes. I'm not really sure what you guys are talking about with the whole African thing, maybe you can post some links, but I'd agree so called "progressive" muslims very much bring it with western ideals. Both seem very much infused together.

            peace

I am new to this forum and I am really impressed by some highly educated ones who are doing great effort by discussing minute details of the Qur?an; keep up the good work
However there are also some who are overawed by the western way of life and are trying to change the meaning of Qur?an by superimposing their own ?wisdom? on our understanding of the Qur?an. For example those who seem to have neglected the far reaching effects of western economy and are promoting (Riba) interest on their own terms.
I agree that most of us, especially when it comes to providing a roof over our heads, have no choice. But to say that this is modern economy and a requirement of today is playing into the hands of moneylenders. This economy that so depends on consumer spending is a fake financial system and borrowers live on thin ice.
I would ask progressive Muslim to really progress and think up ways to promote a just and equitable system, which in turn will promote Islam.
                  Best regards

Sorry I do not think that it converts who are bringing in western values on the other hand I beleive its the childern of those who originated from the east, who are too inbued with western ideas.

I am of those who doesn't believe in values being western or eastern. Real values are universal. False values are also universal. The difference between "East" and "West" is one of power, social development and extent of being affected by the global conflict net. Something like the world wide (conflict) web. Also de different distribution of roles in the planetary comedy-tragedy. We are all playing, even if we don't realise it. Aren't we being pushed into roles? Aren't we adopting roles?

                    Salaam,

Well put! Western way of life has become what some would plainly call Babylon. Today , "western culture" has taken over the role of babylon and has become the symbol of gross materialism. This is spread through many forms and is not only restricted to western countries. Meaning, "western culture" is an ideology and can exist anywhere and in anyone. We see "progressive" Muslims have taken the role of being the apologetic side of Islam as they attempt to conform The Deen into western culture. It is this attempt to intergrate the two systems which has and will continuely faile because it is the process of mixing the perfect(The Deen) with the corrupt. This practices causes forms of hypocrisy to come about in what appears to be a natural setting. Meaning just as you said in your post above about putting a "roof over our heads." So I agree with you that in order for it to work, there needs to be a balance set so we do not have to live in such a way.

From what I've seen, it seems those who claim to be "progressive" Muslims have so far have been able to process well, verse 2256. However, this adhereing only to 2256 is not enough. Even this understanding within the "progressives" is becoming more at risks as we witness the inventions of new sects coming about, more and more.

I understand what Huruf is saying...

Real values are universal. False values are also universal. The difference between "East" and "West" is one of power, social development and extent of being affected by the global conflict net.

Even though I'd maybe disagree that false values are universal (maybe better put is I didn't understand what is meant by "False values are also universal.&quot What we are witnessing is what has always been. Humans who have lost their faith and connection to God fighting about who gets to instate so called reality.

... They plot and plan, and Allah too plans; but the best of planners is Allah. -Q830

                      Peace. peace

For instance, greed, brutality, power as selfdivinization, "I take whatever I can and damned everything else". Some of these values can be summarized as "success".
