Peace. I never fail to be astounded by the worsening indecency of women. Anyone can explain why women feel the need to expose consciously and unconsciously, deliberately or not their bodies, by wearing skin-tight clothes which when worn at night would give the silhouette of a nude woman, short skirts, chest and belly revealing outfits, waist exposing jeans that reveal underwear and part of the buttocks, etc? At the beach, the situation is even worse.

    Salaam tariq,
May be becsause they suffer from low self esteem.

Peace. Well, even women who are from respectable families dress indecently, even women who are married and who have children. It beats me.

Just because one is from a respectable family or is married does not mean one does not suffer from low self esteem.
However it is doing huge damage to male desire and appetite, as too much is freely avalible and human nature is to take such free display for granted.

rotflBTW I am a woman from a respectable family without low self esteem.

          Peace guys

is it worse at the beach - that sounds normal to me... ;D

iqo, i really think you got things mixed up here, what has feminism to do with walking around sexy ? and why should women feel "equal" to men walking around half naked ? and a little precision where i live, half the girls are more or less veiled, may be 10% walk around in (imo) inappropriately sexy outfits and the rest is "normally" dressed. If you think the guys pick only the "sexy" ones to let their piggy instinct run free, you're dead wrong !

          Salaams Elke,

Maybe you took my post as absolute answers. Please read again, they were suggestions to ask the questions to others, or "maybes" about what they possibly could be. So you should feel free to answer the questions if you like. Btw, you really think the feminist movement has nothing to do with less clothes being worn by women in today's society? o

            Salam people.

I don't understand why old women, like mothers dress lightly, but the younger ones, some do it to get attention. To be whorshipped by boys, by trying to get all their attention. If it's not that then why would a girl dress lightly, this strikes me, knowing they have dads and stuff, what are they doing?

Maybe they just like being seen, being said how hot or cute or whatever they are.

Attention whores and stuff like that also.

They just don't know how perverted some men can be.

You should have seen Renee Zellweger yesterday at a London film premier soaking in the December rain with her long dress leaving most of her skin bare. Sad sad sad; .she is after all a role model after many women identified with her role in Bridget Jones.(who suffered from low self esteem)

As for older women they're deterring you young men from looking at girls, so beware. >D

Not necessarily true Samia. It depends on the place. But here in the US it's really demeaning to me as a man. No question most women dress provactively. I have seen it everywhere. Just look at the role-models for these girls/women. If we turn on the tv, you can't go 5 seconds without a half-naked chick across the screen. To me, it's quiet sad.

The thread is not about American women, nor does the poster live in America. I do not know if what you see on TV is what you see on the street, but I personally did not see that. Still, these are not the majority of American women. And American women are not the majority of the world's women.

That's right, he was speaking generally. That's why I started my repsonse with... "Not Necessarily true"

I do not know if what you see on TV is what you see on the street, but I personally did not see that.

Yes it is. Just because you don't personally don't see it, doesn't mean it's non-existent.

Still, these are not the majority of American women.

Yes they are. And based on what?

And American women are not the majority of the world's women.

                      Never said they were.

                        Peace,

Maybe this is way off but allow me to offer a slightly alternative viewpoint. I don't think women dress skimpy for men as much as we think. I think they do it in direct competition with other women. They constantly evaluate each other - they check each other out more than guys check them out - "I like her shoes", "That color looks terrible on her", "I can't believe she's wearing that!!!", etc.

For guys, it's just like, "She's hot". The girl could be wearing sweat pants and ski jacket with bunny slippers on, and it wouldn't matter. If that message only got across, women would realize how much time and effort they're wasting trying so hard to look good.

                        peace

Peace samia, i do not wish to see these indecent women. But not seeing them would be equivalent to closing my eyes and walk out. I live in a small island miles away from the usa but believe me, i do see indecent women everywhere, here. If there's one thing you cant talk to most girls (except sister farida here) whether they profess to believe in God alone or not, it's their clothes. I know couples who break up just because the husband doesnt like the way the woman dresses and she wont change her style, so they end up divorcing, all in the name of feminism.

                            !
Do not say that your surroundings are against you. A man's surroundings are never against him; they are there to aid him, and all those outward occurrences over which you lose sweetness and peace of mind are the very conditions necessary to your development, and it is only by meeting and overcoming them that you can learn, and grow, and ripen. The fault is in yourself.

Cease to dwell pessimistically upon the wrongs around you; dwell no more in complaints about, and revolt against, the evil in others, and commence to live free from all wrong and evil yourself.

                            -James Allen

Why did women wear bustles, and have half or more of their bossom jumping out, or were made breathless their whole life within tight corsets in centuries past, or made to walk on stakelike heels damned their backs... why. Are corsets, bustles, breathlessness, jumping bossoms of centuries back and stake heels due to feminism? In my knowledge feminism was against that and is still against that. Many very honest women were jailed, beaten, ashamed and ridiculed to the utmost (some men too) so that other women and children should not be beaten and exploited to death, deprived of their meager wealth or even their meagerer dignity. Nobody defended women or thought them equal. Feminism has been and is a just and courageous cause, as ever the target of dismissiveness and ridicule. Many people have abused and misused its name, but certianly it has nothing to do with the predatory use of the women's body as shwocase or as measure of prestige and manipulation.

It would intelligent to look elsewhere for the whys.

                                Salaam

Some people really don't know what feminism is in the real world, not to mention WHO started it and for what purpose. Everyone that has an agenda or cause links it to civil rights. Women do and should have civil rights, but what feminism stands for is degredation, manipulation and role misrepresentation of the woman, using civil rights as its platform of disguise.

What feminism are you talking about? Of course you can pick any "feminism" you wnat and say that that is the "real" feminism. But then we are nowhere, because again we do not know what we are talking about. So again no need to bring feminism into the matter, since it will not have brought us any further clarification.

And other than what I said about feminism, the rest of the things were right. Why indeed

Bause after all may be we are indeed in need of some kind of feminism, in the same way that we may be in need for it when by hook or crook others insist that women's heads, or hear or face or feet or whatever must be covered at all costs, and even better if they just do not go out to make sure... summing up, why underdressing or overdressing? I don't see it comes from a different source.

                                      Hi,

Let me put my views here. What you call indecent is dependent on the society u r from.
In India, still people treat a girl wearing jeans as indecently dressed.

But imagine, wearing a sari and running to catch a bus, or standing in a crowded bus managing ur dupatta or sari, its horrible guys. The comfort jeans gives, a sari can never give, but still its treated as indecent dressing.

Similarly there can be other reasons. But i am not saying its true in all cases.

                                      Regards,
                                      VVA

Peace, modesty remains the same whatever the location and we are living in a world where people travel. As i said, i am from a small island yet, you get the majority of girls who wear indecent style. As for wearing a saree to catch a bus, ok jeans are practical, but dont tell me that wearing low cut jeans that reveal hips and waist and underwear has got something to do with being practical!

                                          Hi,

I am not saying low cut jeans are practical. I stay in Japan, and i literally dont get any decent dress in the market here in the place where I stay. So what should i be doing? I can afford to get clothes from other places, but that may not be the case with others.
I am just saying, dont generalise all the women who are indecently dressed as immoral

                                          Regards,
                                          VVA
