17:46 Correct translation

Where do you get your guidance from?? By copying some evil western lifestyle??
roll
We place shields around their minds, to prevent them from understanding it, and deafness in their ears. And when you preach your Lord, using the Quran alone, they run away in aversion.
Nice verse taken blatantly out of conext by the devil Rashad Khalifah (the self-proclaiming messenger) !!! lol
Here is the literal translation
And We put coverings over their hearts (and minds) lest they should understand the Qur'an, and deafness into their ears when thou dost commemorate thy Lord and Him alone in the Qur'an, they turn on their backs, fleeing (from the Truth).
Peace Z?D,
Its very interesting to note that you do not challenge my translation of choice and why it is wrong but you instead deal with a person who is irrelevant to the discussion. Incidentally, there are other translations I would choose for other verses.
Now, lets deal with the matter.
In Arabic the modifier follows the modified word i.e. an adjective follows the noun.
In Arabic
17 46 WajaAAalna AAala quloobihim akinnatan an yafqahoohu wafee athanihim waqran waitha thakarta rabbaka fee alqurani wahdahu wallaw AAala adbarihim nufooran
Translation Rabbaka Your Lord, Fee = in, Alqurani wahdahu= the Qur'an Alone.
Incorrect translation
1746 And We put coverings over their hearts (and minds) lest they should understand the Qur'an, and deafness into their ears when thou dost commemorate thy Lord and Him alone in the Qur'an, they turn on their backs, fleeing (from the Truth).
The fact is there is no other example in the Qur'an where a modifier such as wahdahu modifies the noun as falsely claimed Rabbaka i.e. not the one immediately before it but the one before that whilst its before a preposition.
In Arabic, the adjective follows the noun. Hence, it modifies the word "Quran" and not "Rabbaka".
Hence, your avoidance in dealing with the matter at hand but dealing with the translator. The fact is you have nothing to say, you can only argue with falsehood.
If you disagree, lets have your proofs from the Qur'an. No opinions are required.
thanks wink
