Thank you huruf for your quick reply.

What you are saying is the truth, and every Muslim must believe in what you summarized.

I was wondering can the story of the prophet Mohammad be told without the aid of the Sunna and Hadeeth?

To know the life of the prophet is important to me but not essential for being a Muslim. I just love his personality as described in the Quran and I want to read more about him. In other words, is there an approved story or deeds of the prophet. And can you lead me to the verses in the Quran which speaks about the prophet? I will be so thankful.

I must stop being lazy and start reading and analyzing the Quran.

    Salam.

I am also new in free-minds, so I am not the best source of knowledge and I am a lost case for memory. I guess you can search the concordance for Muhammad and see the ayas where he is mentiones, but the ayas without the name are very numerous, may be another of the members can give you better advice.

On the other hand, while nothing has the guaranty of the Qur'an I guess that we can learn from other siras or texts provided we always exercise some judgement as to the content.

Be it as it may, I think you will eventually learn everything you need, everything is there, just take your time and be a little patient, it will come to you.

Visit the site www.studyquran.org, you have all kinds of tools there to find anything you care for. After, if there is something which you want particularly discussed you can post it.

Salaam and may the most Merciful be your guide.

Believe me 20-47 there are a lot of Saudis who think and speak like a Quran follower, the problem is that they don't know that there's such thing as Quranist exists. Any sane, logical, and intellectual person will not hold the Hadeeth above the Quran.

the problem is that they don't know that there's such thing as Quranist exists.

Quranist is man made term and label just like sunni, shia etc. etc.. It appears you have come out of one man made sect and wish to join another? Well, at least that's what your words are alluding to. Was Abraham, Musa, Isa, etc.. etc.. etc.. "quranists?"

It's one thing to understand how man has crept into and corroupted the Deen but it's another to run all the way around only to complete a circle back to where you started from.

                    peace. peace

Peace be with you Mohammad and welcome to the forum.

Say ?Shall we call upon other than God what cannot benefit us or harm us, and we turn back on our heels after God has guided us?? This is like the one whom the devils have managed to mislead on Earth, he is confused, having friends who call him to the guidance ?Come to us!? Say ?The guidance is God?s guidance, and we have been ordered to submit to the Lord of the worlds.?

Good point. There are submitters (i.e. "muslims&quot in all the Book religions, like Hindus (see Gita on Bhakti Yoga), Buddhists, Jews, Christians, etc. Submission to God (i.e. "islam&quot is not a sect but is the essence of all religions.

Sorry if my words made you think I mean that. I used the word "Quranist" to make things clear (is that what labels are for?), I won't join a man-made sect after Allah showed me the path out of it. Following God's words ONLY is by no means a man made sect, I understand that well.

It's not easy to get over a 20 years of brain washing.

Thank you for correcting me brother peace

I was wondering can the story of the prophet Mohammad be told without the aid of the Sunna and Hadeeth?

First of all assalamu aleikoum and welcome to the forum Salam.

About your question if there exists a truthful story about Muhammad without the corruption of his live in the past... our beloved Allah/God keeps every messenger's privacy and I also think the Almighty doesn't share anything without the permission of His messengers. Now what we can find in the hadeeths and sunnah are mostly gossiptalks about the prophet. Shared information without the granted permission of prophet Muhammad, which makes us wonder if what is being told about Muhammad is really the truth or not, and if some is true how we can confirm that? I ofcourse choose to look it up in the Quran since Allah is number one in telling us the truth, the HONEST and RIGHTEOUS truth, which means with the granted permission (since Allah knows His creation the best) of His messengers. I don't think we can find that (complete) TRUTH in the hadeeths and/or sunnah, since those are mostly stories passed on from generation to generation and so must have been adjusted, or some truth must have been left out... or in simple words; they're mostly corrupted stories that most of the time don't shine a "good" light on our beloved prophet Muhammad.

To know the life of the prophet is important to me but not essential for being a Muslim. I just love his personality as described in the Quran and I want to read more about him. In other words, is there an approved story or deeds of the prophet.

Same here. Everybody feels somehow more connected to a certain messenger of God which they would like more information about.
For some funny reason I feel this passionate love for one particular/specific messenger of God/Allah, and that's prophet Abraham. The way Allah/God describes him in the Quran really makes me feel comfortable, because he's being portrayed as a simple human being, a simple soul with "flaws" just like us. I remember a verse wherein Abraham went to a temple and broke all of the created idols of the society he got raised in (I guess they slaughtered human beings for their idols which made Abraham mad??). He lied when they asked him if he was the one who broke all those idols. I laughed when I read that in the Quran, because Allah/God is showing us with just a little example how all of his messengers were also simple human beings just like us. I guess I always portrayed them as holy "angels" who never lie, always tell the truth and never ever commited a (however you like to call it) "sin". I guess reading the Quran made it clear to me that they were no different then us, except for having direct communication with the Greatest, our beloved God.

                                          Just sharing my thoughts.

                                          peace
