Are curse words haram according to the quran?

As we know, both in christianity and sunni/shia cursing should not be used and is seen as a sin.
Actually, that's not entirely true. According to the Shias, cursing the sahaba (companions of the prophet), as well as the Khalifa Yazeed is an essential part of the "religion".
This is because in Ziyarat e Ashura, which is hadith qudsi, Allah (SWT) says
"Send your la'na (curses) on Abu sufyan and Muawiya, and Yazid son of Muawiyah and let it be an everlastig la'na from you."
God commanded it!

When something bad happens to you. You dont curse either. You say Inna lillahi wa inna elayhi raji3oon

Anything that happens is a test to see whether you will be grateful or a disbeliever.
Nowhere in the quran does it say that you can curse anyone. Except for those hypocrites and people full of ego who conceal the truth from Allah. You can say damn them, because Allah and the angels also do. voodoo
2159 Those who conceal the clear (Signs) We have sent down, and the Guidance, after We have made it clear for the people in the Book,-on them shall be Allah's curse, and the curse of those entitled to curse,-

If we are to speak on Quran, then it is incumbent on us to clarify that the following ayats are not contradicting each other; and the ayats mentioned in the quotes above such as 2159,156; 2946; 4911
3.087 " Of such the reward is that on them the curse of Allah, of His angels, and of all mankind "
2.161 " Those who reject, and die rejecting,- on them is Allah's curse, and the curse of angels, and of all mankind "
5.078 " Those who disbelieved from among the children of Israel were cursed by the tongue of Dawood and Isa, son of Marium; this was because they disobeyed and used to exceed the limit.So, kindly clarify that all these ayats do not contradict each other... And also say how each ayat is complementing one another; and as you involve in such exercise you will surely know that each ayat has its own context and there is Allah's allowance that you are to curse who you are to curse.

All the verses clarify that only people who reject or hide truth deserve to be cursed. Dont ask me which specific curse words though! I suppose it's like "damn them", they are like monkeys or donkeys! I wouldn't say this gives reason to use "F" word or anything like that though.

for example, if you research "scientific" names for certain body parts you may wonder what makes our modern slang words any more offensive than the origins of those "scientific" words

Well said. The "f" word in a certain context can be harmless, and in another, 'offensive' to some.
If it comes down to calling people names and such, it's pretty obvious that this behaviour is childish if not sinful.
But in simply expressing onesself, I see no harm in it nor do I know of any ayat that would forbid it.Peace,

The F-Word is really difficult for me. I do not find it offensive, however it is such a "charged" word that sometimes I feel discomfort hearing it being said left right and centre. Maybe there are other people who get uncomfortable as well?just my 2-cents.
