Fasting each day while avoiding anything at all which would create excitement.
    Including thoughts, and even dreams.

Is this best for an unmarried?

    Quite a challenge!

      well...

i allow myself to imagine myself with a perticular person, who i may marry. i agree, it is a challange, Evre. including dreams and the imagination, it can be hard.

i think what is best is to wait until God grants us a spouse through physically keeping themselves chaste. as for suggestive ideas, with God's help, may we keep away from what is hurtful to our deen.

It's a new rule for me. I've always been chaste, just not to the extent I described.
I havn't actually started fasting, but I know it's recommended, and hence I'm having a difficult time!
But--your right, I think this might be a step in the right direction. The thing I might have the most trouble with is dreams,
because indeed, I often find myself in a dream, and I KNOW it's dream--so I can basically do anything I want, and every time the same thing happens... You know how it goes.
I'm disappointed though. I really don't think I'll ever make enough money to support a family. In which case my hope for a good life is even more in the next, because if God does save you, he gives you a perfect match, in a place of eternal beauty--what more could you ask for?
What is deen, by the way?

hey, brother. "deen" is the arabic word for something like "system of faith" or "religion". i'm also on muxlim spaces, so i throw more arabic into the mix here. peace

i know, it's difficult to keep one's dreams in check. brother, don't despair. i am very poor myself, yet one must have faith that God will grant us a partner in this life is He wills, in spite of financial hardship. God willing, Evre.

            Peace,

            ReDeen

It does not mean religion. Though, traditionally it's thought to be meant that.

4213 He has decreed for you the same system/obligation(deen) He ordained for Noah, and what We inspired to you, and what We ordained for Abraham, Moses, and Jesus "You shall uphold this system/obligation (deen), and do not divide in it." Intolerable for those who have set up partners is what you invite them towards. God chooses for Himself whomever He wills; He guides to Himself those who repent.

2432 And marry off those among you that are single, and the good from among your male and female servants. If they are poor, then God will grant them from His grace. And God is Encompassing, Knowledgeable.

              Peace Evre
I know exactly what you are talking about when you talk about dreams. Its called Lucid Dreaming and I get that as well. Celebacy is something we ought to strive for. Unfortunetly there is alot of temptation in society but I find it gets alot easier if you do not watch TV, even channels like the News (especially Fox) are full of temptation. Also taking walks alot helps. Basically avert your eyes as the Quran advises. You have any strategies you can share?

Yes, it's basically avert your eyes, and your thoughts.
In addition to that fasting has been recommended, or I would say if you cannot do that then just eating a lot less helps too.
I agree, exercising is good for everything too, and the various medias can make averting your eyes difficult. Basically your safe if you can avoid the initial stages of wanting,
however, once some little thing triggers it your like-- OMG what do I do ) hehe, so prevention is key.

Yeah totally. I've been into lucid dreaming since I was twelve, and the best community ever to talk about it is http//ld4all.com, it's so cool! In fact... I just bought this amino acid last night which makes your dreams vivid. I'm definantly into dreams ) The happiest moments I've ever had have been in dreams. I sometimes think they are small samples of the bliss of heaven, and at times, the other place.

Not in my opinion. The above is extreme and almost impossible.

al quran is not about extremes nor trying to implement impossibilities.

All information is correct to the best of my knowledge only and thus should not be taken as a fact. One should always seek knowledge and verify for themselves when possible: 17:36, 20:114, 35:28, 49:6, 58:11.

It is pretty strict, but I bascially derived it from "avert your eyes".
I extended that to mean averting your imaginings too, because isn't staring at someone in your mind basically the same thing?
All the other chastities happen automatically from that, and fasting makes it easier.
