God consciousness in your dream state
-
Peace humandesign,
Imo, the dream state very rarely includes both the conscious and subconscious. On those rare occasions that it does, we have a lucid dream, or, an awareness that we are dreaming. But much more often than not, the dream is simply a manifestation of the ramblings of the mind without the direction of the subconscious - like a car with the accelerator pinned to the floor without a driver. This might explain why we're rarely aware of anything from life, let alone God. Many of the dreams that I recall have me in a state of consciousness where I'm completely cut off from memories of my family, my friends, my "stuff", and pretty much everything else I associate with life.
So, I wouldn't worry too much about it, especially in the sense that you're lacking anything.
Peace,
Tay -
Peace all,
I can completely agree with "tay's" statements here. Dreams are, with the exceptions of lucid ones, mostly random and the memories from our daily life are shut off. One could say that one is conscious in ones dream but it is an ALTERED STATE OF CONSCIOUSNESS. And bro "tay" if you remember, this is exactly one of the proofs for one of our previous debates in which you and i had an argument about love. You called love something supernatural or beyond neural activity. Well if thats the case then you should at least retain the feeling of love for the same people in every one of your dreams but you dont and neither do i. I also gave an example of rabbis infected brain where all or most feelings of love immediately dissipate. This is a clear indicator that love is also due to certain, though complex, neural activities, maybe in BOTH the heart and the brain, the former of which is now now to possess a small neural network of its own or similar but relatively much smaller neural cells as compared to the brain. GOD Bless! -
Peace Jonny,
You say you agree but I don't think you do based on what you're saying here. The title of the thread is, "God consciousness in your dream state", and the question posed by 'humandesign' is why "in many dreams I am not conscious of God". My opinion is that God-consciousness is, at it's core, driven by the subconscious. The same can be said of love. Thus, the explanation that dreams are essentially ramblings of the mind does not in any way belittle or waver the validity of love and/or God-consciousness. Quite contrarily, it validates the depth and realm of what it means to love or to believe in God since in the dream it is only the shallowest layer of mind "noise" that is randomly in action.
Occasionally, we get a dream that incorporates someone we know or love, yet the nonsense the brain attaches to the scenario never allows the true awareness and recognition of that person to shine through in the dream. However, in waking life, that awareness is as real and existent as the floor beneath your feet. So, is the awareness fleeting and temporary, based on what parts of the brain are active/inactive? Or, is the awareness something deeper that the conscious mind does not fully encompass, it only translates it into tangible expressions?
I'm pretty sure you know which side of that question I'm on, and I know which side you're on, so no need to rehash it.
Peace,

JK- The problem is what is creating the your awareness in the first place? THE BRAIN. There can be relatively stable dreams BUT with an altered consciousness in which there is awareness BUT DIFFERENT meaning that even if you saw some of your loved ones, you wouldnt love them. Regarding real life, i also made it clear that people with certain mental disorders or serious brain damages could cease to love their former beloved. One can also loose the capability to experience love altogether(this could through practice be consciously induced too for a certain amount of time) just like there are people who do not respond normally to gestures or sarcasm due to certain brain malfunctions. GOD Bless!

Coming back to the OP, I had a dream yesterday...I saw Asif Zardari tying a foot effigy to a lamp-post saying this is my pir's foot effigy, it will do a lot for whoever prays to it and then a line of people behind him all bowing down in silent awe to the um, foot thing. I was like this silent spectator who while watching it unfold kept telling God, what the hell is going on! Look! He thinks a foot of a pir will actually help him and omg, the people are following him and wait, is that foot effigy cast iron, it does have a certain charm, maybe on the mantelpiece (I was reading a book on Victorian culture and the connections between the objects to said culture)...I had this distinct awareness of God within and I'm sure others have dreams where they are aware of God as well.
As for why? Well some dreams you have it and some dreams you don't. I would kinda feel slightly irritated if I had God or moralising (heaven forfend) in every dream cough.
edit Ah, I just read Tay's pov on it, seems sound.

That's interesting how you feel conscious of God. At one point I did look in to dream interpretation alot - through juournaling - but I feel that the messages are clearly there for anyone to easily interpret according to their circumstances and there should not be such a need to be driven by them in life... if you know what I mean.
I do feel there is a clear message and warning in your dream that is directed to yourself. What comes to mind (please forgive I don't mean to be offensive) is a subtle hypocricy - where you are condeming one thing and then also accepting it in another form - as in the way of the mantle piece. If it were me with the dream - I might question my reading of the victorian book.... well who knows.
But it is still interesting that you are conscious of God in your dream.
I do tend of have a sense of right and wrong in my dreams - where I just know - it is not anyone telling me - it is perhaps just kind of me-consciousness but even if it were God telling me something I doubt I would see it as a higher authority moralising with me. Unless of course it did not feel right.... in which case it may not be GOd but I might consider it an entity from the darkside in disguise.
Or it may be that I have not fully submitted yet and so I feel more kind of pressured about things that may in fact be good for me.

I'd like it if you were clearer.

I disagree, seeing as how I was appalled at them praying to it, not appalled at the object itself as I mention it having a certain charm. Though if it was hairy, who knows.

Personally, I let normal dreams go where they take me, don't end up interpreting them as much.
Or it may be that I have not fully submitted yet and so I feel more kind of pressured about things that may in fact be good for me.
I suggest to myself and others to be more active/concerned with doing practical good and let the dreams be as they may. They change depending on what we do anyways.

oops - I was talking about myself - how I used to interpret dreams and tried to live my life by the messages - but I don't focus on it any more as I had far too much of a dose of the spiritual realm.
I do not really bother with it any more - unless there is soemthing critical going on in my life or I remeber something very significant/unsual form teh dream. But that said when there is a blatant message - it is useful.
And lets not forget the famous dream interpreting prophet named in the Quran - was it Joseph? I'm sure dreams have thier purposes where the dream is rightfully interpreted.
I will never rule out that they may be a means of communication by higher self/being/God. Obviously question is - which ones - all or some is another matter.
