Wikipedia Article about Iram (Lost City of the Aad people)

it's amazing to see how these cities and civilizations mentioned in the Quran really existed...
when i first began to read the Quran as a non-Muslim, i remember seeing all the names of tribes and cities and thinking "this guy's just making things up... i've never heard of these places!" it's really something to see these cities and places come back to light.
God willing we can learn more about these cities, and what they were like in their primes.

I remember seeing photos of archeology b4 believing in the Quran so I had an idea that there are indeed destroyed cities etc.
It is something the stories do describe real events in time. Of course we can't trust a wikipedia article on face value because anyone can edit it. But God Willing there is some real research being done that can uncover what these cities were like. peace

The article concludes (without merit) that Irum = Ubar.
What's the evidence for that?
The Quran advises against looking at history 1822
Peace
Thats true, the article doesn't give enough evidence. I wasn't trying to discuss anything Quranic by posting the article i.e. looking into history in order to make up theories. Just pasted it because it was interesting -

Respectfully. And we should also take a lesson from those cities and twons, at least, from the people who lived there.
We are told in the Quran how Pharao acted and lived and spoke and his behaviour is well described and we are also told how he ended - hard.We are told about his wife too. Nice ending.
History is excellent, it was never boring for me, i always wanted to know about Adam, Noah, about his ship, where is it and stuff like that, not just to believe or confirm this or that, but to get some knowledge. For example, now we can learn from people around us and record it tell our kids.
We have to dig into the ground to see cities. Times change. Will we?
God bless you all.
Take care.
Peace.
