In the name of God, most merciful, most compassionate.
    Peace be with you.

Pvb, you didn't answer when I pointed out the distortion of the bible. Maybe I should be heading /home.
    But, ok, .. !

IF Paul was a messenger of the messenger Jesus... D
Why does Paul call him son of God, when he himself called himself son of Adam? (or indeed, of Adam, likening his fatherless birth, to the fatherless creation of Adam)

    Peace be with you.

The quran says it is a book for all mankind. Some parts are for the believers, some parts for all mankind, some parts for all men, some parts for all women, some parts for all people with X ability, some part for all people with X resources but NEVER is it written that the book is for Arabs only.

        And We did not send any messenger but with the language of his people, so that he might explain to them clearly;

The reason is given right there. An Arabic messenger and a Chinese book is ridiculous. Islam jumped to the top because of its clarity, not because another empire hijacked it and gave sermons in Latin to people who spoke Dutch.

            Salaam,

The Quran is sent for the oloo al-albab = men of understanding(Yusuf Ali) or men possessed of minds(Arberry)

            Yusuf Ali

In the Law of Equality there is (saving of) Life to you, o ye men of understanding; that ye may restrain yourselves.

He granteth wisdom to whom He pleaseth; and he to whom wisdom is granted receiveth indeed a benefit overflowing; but none will grasp the Message but men of understanding.

He it is Who has sent down to thee the Book In it are verses basic or fundamental (of established meaning); they are the foundation of the Book others are allegorical. But those in whose hearts is perversity follow the part thereof that is a llegorical, seeking discord, and searching for its hidden meanings, but no one knows its hidden meanings except God. And those who are firmly grounded in knowledge say "We believe in the Book; the whole of it is from our Lord" and none will grasp the Message except men of understanding.

Behold! in the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the alternation of night and day,- there are indeed Signs for men of understanding,-

Ye are never able to be fair and just as between women, even if it is your ardent desire But turn not away (from a woman) altogether, so as to leave her (as it were) hanging (in the air). If ye come to a friendly understanding, and practise self-restraint, God is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

There is, in their stories, instruction for men endued with understanding. It is not a tale invented, but a confirmation of what went before it,- a detailed exposition of all things, and a guide and a mercy to any such as believe.

Here is a Message for mankind Let them take warning therefrom, and let them know that He is (no other than) One God let men of understanding take heed.

To Solomon We inspired the (right) understanding of the matter to each (of them) We gave Judgment and Knowledge; it was Our power that made the hills and the birds celebrate Our praises, with David it was We Who did (all these things).

(Here is) a Book which We have sent down unto thee, full of blessings, that they may mediate on its Signs, and that men of understanding may receive admonition.

Seest thou not that God sends down rain from the sky, and leads it through springs in the earth? Then He causes to grow, therewith, produce of various colours then it withers; thou wilt see it grow yellow; then He makes it dry up and crumble away. Truly, in this, is a Message of remembrance to men of understanding.

A Guide and a Message to men of Understanding.

Those who shout out to thee from without the inner apartments - most of them lack understanding.

Of a truth ye are stronger (than they) because of the terror in their hearts, (sent) by God. This is because they are men devoid of understanding.

God has prepared for them a severe Punishment (in the Hereafter). Therefore fear God, O ye men of understanding - who have believed!- for God hath indeed sent down to you a Message,-

            Hati

Arabic one of the most difficult languages to translate in to English, just look at the various translations. Some Muslims even say that it is no longer the true message if translated out of Arabic or that only Arab born are allowed to translate! All this leads along with 014.004 leads me to believe that the Arab message was sent to Arab speakers only. Allah only wanted to guide those who he wanted to.

YUSUFALI In the Law of Equality there is (saving of) Life to you, o ye men of understanding; that ye may restrain yourselves.

PICKTHAL And there is life for you in retaliation, O men of understanding, that ye may ward off (evil).

SHAKIR And there is life for you in (the law of) retaliation, O men of understanding, that you may guard yourselves.

Big difference between retaliation and Law of Equality. I suspect that the Aramaic-syrian reading is different too.

true. But the Quran also says that God guides those who want to be guided, who open their heart to God and surrender to Him. He is the Most Merciful and Compassionate. And fair. D

in fact the only ones God misguides are the evildoers..

226 God does not shy away from citing the example of a mosquito, or anything above it. As for those who believe, they know that it is the truth from their Lord. As for the rejecters, they say "What does God want with this example?" He lets many stray by it, and He guides many, but He only lets stray the evildoers.

All muslims KNOW that it is no longer the true message when it is translated out of Arabic. On the other hand, you saying that "only arab born are allowed to translate" is ridiculous and it's definitely not from the quran.

There is a simple reason for it, conciseness. For example, much of modern physics is far too convoluted to explain. Yet, a simple (to those who write it, anyway) equation says everything and in one neatly summed up statement. This is exactly the same form of mathematical precision that is necessary.

OK, some Muslims say that only arab born Muslims are are regarded as capable of true translations, but it is no longer the word of Allah.

So only those that read Arab can understand the Quran, because the message is lost when translated.

The Holy Bible can be read by anyone in any language and it remains the True Word of GOD.

What does this verse have to do with the Quran being sent for only a certain people?

It's simple -- the messenger speaks the language of the people.

You gotta quit with these tremendous stretches...

And 144 is definitely not about the quran, did you bother to read 145 ???

Allah's messanger Mohammad didn't come to english speaking people only arab speaking people. Mohammad carried the Quran.

I'm not sure how else to say it?
According to the Quran Jesus was the messanger sent to me.

                          JESUS CHRIST!!!

(was sent to Nazarenes who spoke Aramaic and delivered his qur'an in Aramaic)

Jesus' disciples spoke more then just aramaic.

Sorry about ruffling your feathers, but you still are not getting my point- we can end this here.

Well, if according to the quran, Jesus was sent to you, then follow Jesus! They all have the same message, according to the quran. Of which the quran does NOT include a trinity of any sort.

Have you ever heard of the Peshitta? Interesting

                                      http//www.aramaicpeshitta.com/

That theory of Muslims still leaves out a whole bunch of people that Allah has not sent a messenger to.

Are you saying that Allah's Word becomes corrupted when written down?

"The word of man can never be the word of God."

                                      The whole message?

"I believe that the message of the Torah, Psalms and Injeel is also lost when translated."

                                        Salam,
Sorry, Maybe I wasn't clear enough....
I believe that the Torah should be read in Hebrew
The Gospels (By this I mean the words of Jesus) in Aramaic
                                        and the Psalms in Hebrew.
And of course the Quran in Arabic
I think that when any of these books out of the language it was revealed in you have "interpretations" and "a word is exchanged for a word." The original intent of the message is in danger of being lost and so often is.

Yes, I have heard of the Peshitta and I think that it is an excellent resource. However, again, I do not agree with the English translation that is provided on the site.

No, I am not saying that Allah's word is corrupted when written down, only when translated into a foreign tongue other than the originally intended language.

To the best of my knowledge the prophets that we are told of in the Torah, Psalms, Injeel, Prophets, Quran etc all spoke a semitic language and all semitic languages share a common basic alphabet, structure and in most cases related definitions.

I have a theory that there may be one language and the only difference is the written alphabet and pronounciation.

This is not an original idea, mind you. Many have thought this before.

                                        For instance

                                        ba (B)
                                        ya (Y)
                                        ta (T)
in Arabic is roughly translated as "house"

                                        Beyt (B)
                                        Yod (Y)
                                        Taw (T)
in Hebrew is roughly translated as house
                                        Bet (B)
                                        Yod (Y)
                                        Taw (T)
in Aramaic is roughly translated as house

Sorry to be so simplistic....you get the point...

If you can find the common definition between the dialects,
bearing in mind that the semitic languages used Verbs (Action words) as their root, you would be on the right track to finding the true definition.

                                        Salam,
                                        Arnab

Arnab - What do you think of the people that say that the Quran is not actually in arabic but aramaic because of the poor grammer, words that no one understands, etc.? The fact that there are no diacritical points?

What do you think about all the unarabic words in the Quran?
